Morning....

OP posts:
lanismum · 07/12/2006 13:16

oh and welcome

Ragamuffin · 07/12/2006 13:19

Hello everyone, I'm back from the Caribbean Cruise.......very tanned and well rested, but still battling a tad with the jet lag. The job involved very little work at all. The children were teenagers and required little supervision and were working much of the time with their mother so I was not needed.

Consequently I have seen several Caribbean islands and had a fabulous break.........really a DREAM JOB! Now awaiting the cheque for the job..........almost guilty taking money for it??

Trying to catch up on what's been happening at home and get my head around Christmas shopping which I haven't even started yet!

Also I might add that it has taken me 2 days to catch up with all your news!! My goodness..... you have been a busy lot!! Not going to congratulate you all individually.........but just say well done to all of you who did or got confirmed for jobs while I was away.

Ellesmum and DLM........Thanx for the e-mails with pics of your LO's jobs. Much appreciated and will e-mail back shortly.

Julie........Thanx for all the travel advice both before and during the trip. It was always good to know you were there to advise!

Will be out to buy the latest Junior Mag today. Dying to see our mumsnet kids in that!

lanismum · 07/12/2006 13:20

ragamuffin soooooooooooooooooooo

BigmummaL · 07/12/2006 13:21

Thanks loads for your response Lanismum, much appreciated. Hope things pick up your dd soon

julie4travel · 07/12/2006 13:23

raga dont feel guilty. at least they new you were there if they needed you. put it like you were being on call therefore you deserve the money. plus being away from your family etc!

lanismum- thats funny our batteries seem to run out and things disappear especially toy swords and things like that. the kids get so much stuff they dont realise

Ragamuffin · 07/12/2006 13:23

Lanismum.....Most people are!!!! Getting used to that GREEN look now!

Congrats on it being another little girl. While I love having one of each, I would dearly have loved to have another girl to pass all the great clothes down to!

ellesmum · 07/12/2006 13:26

yes ragg very sounds like a dream holiday, glad it went well, and good luck with the christmas shopping!

lanismum - i have bought dd the v.smile game consol aswell for xmas, not sure if she will know how to use it, if she dosent i will have to play it myself! lol

bought the new junior mag today, mrsratty your dds pics are just fab!

lanismum · 07/12/2006 13:33

elles, i got her the hand held one, it can connect to the tv as well though, my brother tried to get me to buy her a game boy advance, as shes always after his psp, she is actually quite interested in consoles and hand helds, she has my brother and lots of my cousins to teach her, my 12 year old cousin is after the new nintendo wii for xmas, no doubt they will be teaching her to play that too.

dylansluckymum · 07/12/2006 13:34

housemum that's fantastic, how exciting!!! it must be so nice to actually win something too! you must let us know who the celeb turns out to be.

raga welcome back! i'm sure you've been pleased with the beautiful weather since you've been back. i've just sent you an email.

lanismum you're due the day after ds was born (+ a year of course!)!

lanismum · 07/12/2006 13:34

i do draw the line when the older ones have their games on though, some are awful!

lanismum · 07/12/2006 13:36

dylans, i have been told i might need a c section, which would be done at 38 weeks, well they day i fall 38 weeks pregnant is my birthday! hoping i wont be in theatre on my birthday.......

dylansluckymum · 07/12/2006 13:39

aw lanismum that kind of sucks. but since they can schedule it surely you can ask for a couple days grace? i'm with you on the games, dp is an avid 'gamer' (it's his passion, he has about 15 different consoles plus loads of computer games) but he's not allowed to have anything violent on when ds is awake. have you seen that car gangster one? i can't remember what it's called but it's absolutely shocking!!!

mythumbelinas · 07/12/2006 13:50

DLM, i know the car gangster one you mean, but not the name .. we used to go rounds a friends and dh and the guys would play it all day! Us gals would be in the kitchen having a tea and chatting whilst the kids played
dd1 likes to play bomberman .. she can load it all up and play .. i don't know how
We should be buying her a nintendo ds for Xmas

lanismum, if you have c-section on your b'day, wouldn't it mean dd2 is born on your birthday?

lanismum · 07/12/2006 13:57

grand theft auto?

Ragamuffin · 07/12/2006 13:58

DLM.....Have e-mailed you back!

lanismum.....I ended up in the same position with DS. In the end persuaded Gynae to wait another week with close monitoring and had C-Section at 39weeks. At least it means we have our own birthdays. Birthdays are special and not for sharing!

ellesmum · 07/12/2006 13:58

dp has bought be a pink nintendo ds for xmas, ive wanted it for ages, i know im a big kid i just love the nintendo dog game, they are sooo cute!

lanismum - hope the c section dosent fall on your birthday! that wouldnt be nice. i was in hospital for a whole month before dd was born as i kept going in and out of prem labour, eventually was induced at 36 weeks. it was a nightmare and as much as i would love another one i keep thinking about what happened with dd and it really puts me off! still it was all worth it in the end.

lanismum · 07/12/2006 13:58

mythumbs, yep, what a great pressie

lanismum · 07/12/2006 14:02

think they will induce me if my blood pressure goes up again, which if they do a few weeks early might take away the need for a c section all together, as the baby will be smaller, and the problems i had before were due to dd being a porker and coming very fast, so i might escape a section all together, part of me wants one though to avoid a natural birth, oh well, will have to see what they think is best when i go back in the new year.

sha11 · 07/12/2006 14:03

marymay how did your vw casting go my dds had it last thursday was told by the agency that they really liked one dd!! and then a few days later said both!!??!! but i told them school will not allow even one day and as license is def' required we cant do it when is the job thought it was today.

lanismum · 07/12/2006 14:08

sha11, thats so annoying, the school could have let it go just this once and then said in future only take jobs after school/during holidays, must be a very strict school!

mythumbelinas · 07/12/2006 14:11

ellesmum, can i ask where your dp bought the pink nintendo ds? That is the colour dd1 would like

lanismum, my first pregnancy was quite text book .. and birth was a breeze .. i was very well after and all shrunk back after 10 days, dd1 was such a good clean laid back baby .. i felt i'd only have 1 baby for years (eventho i'd wanted 4 before) .. it was sooo different when i had dd2 .. morning sickness all the way thru, v painful birth .. altho glad i've never torn. Challenging baby .. me and dh have decided no more!!

mythumbelinas · 07/12/2006 14:14

sha11, can't believe your dd's school is being so strict!! i haven't asked my school yet but i dread to ..

ellesmum · 07/12/2006 14:36

mythumbs - i got the nintendo ds lite from argos you can get it in pink, white or black.
if u get the older pink ds you get a free game (nintendo dogs game)

perfumelady · 07/12/2006 14:41

mythumbelinas ds pink woolworths £99, argos and the game my too had the normal ds in pink and they both wanted to get the ds pink lite so i said the only way that i would agree would be if i sold they on ebay and then with the money then they could go and buy the lite , one sold for £122 and the other for £130!!!! isn't ebay a mad mad place we only paid £99 for them in the 1st place it's just everyone is after pink,so good luck i hope you find them somewhere in stock. good ds games are tamagotchi town, bratz diamonds, sims petz, animal crossing and brain training is brilliant, i have a brain age of 62

perfumelady · 07/12/2006 14:51

ragamuffin, welcome home. sounds like it was great, did you visit jamacia? was it on the royal caribian cruise line?

sha11 i really feel for you with regards the school, that seems really harsh.

lanismum is there any chance things could change and that you may not need a c section?

marymay thanks for the website tip forgot all about that , just had a look and your ds and my dd's photo is on her webpage too, think your need more spaces soon on your ds's page!!

BigmummaL well done for getting a contract with u/a we are with them also but my dd is 9. i'm sure you will soon start to get to get some work, just be prepared for the call the night before asking you to go to london the next day there is a nice steady flow of jobs from u/a and they do tend to get loads of work for the small ones. keep us posted.
