Hello........

OP posts:
Lolly68 · 28/11/2006 11:06

Quad - she made some comment about the lovely photos I originally sent in and then said that the updated ones must have made DD look like a monster or something... and then she laughed. It seems that it happens a lot. The thing is there was a covering letter with the photos which they obviously chose to ignore. Ellesmum said that they did the same to someone whose daughter has had jobs with them!

Quadrophenia · 28/11/2006 11:07

well at least she was trying to be nice, still very unprofessional though

Lolly68 · 28/11/2006 11:08

Julie - you are very lucky to be able to work from home I'm a legal sec and have no choice but I must admit that I'm on here most of day!

Lolly68 · 28/11/2006 11:08

Quad - lets hope the phone rings now they have had a good laugh!

julie4travel · 28/11/2006 11:09

flamesparrow i have never even heard of them! sorry cant help you

quad - me and my hubbie discussed last night he recons we are paying now £80 a month on castings (or even model book things) or unpaid jobs or since sep and we have to start tightening our belt as at the moment have not had the money paid back. i have said we will carry on with the student film this weekend they are paying expenses and i wont apply for any more unpaid work from star now etc and just leave it to the agents to hopefully get us something. the cost of that is really because of train tickets.

Flamesparrow · 28/11/2006 11:10

I'm pretty much of the opinion Quad that if they can't organise a website so it is clear and easy to use, then they probably aren't worth using iyswim.

julie4travel · 28/11/2006 11:11

lolly instead of me joining aa meetings i will have to join mumsnet meetings once a week to wean me off- sad i know i am !

anyway off to exchange an elf outfit back later

Flamesparrow · 28/11/2006 11:12

Oh crossed posts Julie - yup, if a couple of you haven't heard of them and its a hard to use site, I will leave it.

I'm still finding this all very daunting as it is (keep worrying that I am selling my children )

Flamesparrow · 28/11/2006 11:13

Argh - that sounds like I think you're selling your children, but you know I obv don't or I wouldn't be sending off emails...

Why do I always end up with my foot in my mouth???

Quadrophenia · 28/11/2006 11:13

It does all mount up, even some paid jobs are not worth it if they only get the two hour pay.

FS very sensible, who else have you tried?

julie4travel · 28/11/2006 11:17

flamesparrow- i look at the positives my children had got so much more confident from castings etc and the other benefits of it. my ds loves it and my dd is starting properly in jan . i cant see it doing them any harm in it unless it seriously made them behind with schoolwork then i would call it a day. there is pros and cons with everything. did you ever look at that acting and modelling guide book ? that gives good info about it all before joining agencys to check if its something you def want to do

Flamesparrow · 28/11/2006 11:21

I have been going with the theory that we might as well give it a whirl - if they aren't happy, then we will stop - it will have been a good life experience whatever happens (assumin anyone wants my babies of course ).

Lemme go find the list - I have no spare money so it is only agencies that were verified on the childmodelling site, and that don't charge upfront...

B&B - Just for DS atm because of closed books
Bubblegum
Fine Kids
MOT
Mustard

We will do Kids London but that is a proper post job rather than online.

dylansluckymum · 28/11/2006 12:55

hi all, sounds like a nightmare with your los school sha11. i don't really understand how they have the right to refuse when you are allowed a certain number of 'unauthorised absences'. surely it's your decision if they take them and for what??

thorntons, as lolly confirmed ds should be in the winter junior p&b, and i think everything else comes out next year. saying that i think next said the new directory comes out end of december. all this waiting! a whole bunch should be out in jan/feb though.

have to take ds for his last injection until he's 13 mos today so dreading it but at the same time glad to get it over with. i'm starting to itch for the phone to ring from b&b again so i guess all i needed was a week off!

Lolly68 · 28/11/2006 13:12

DLM - Junior P&B is out this Thursday. Do you want me to get you a copy or have you got access to a shop that sells them. It is not stocked everywhere?

julie4travel · 28/11/2006 13:20

flamesparrow - i think bubblegum may charge something nowadays. mot are normally quick to give a reply , if you post to kids london you should here back within a week or so. they said no too us and i hope its due to our location. urban angels would have been another good one to try yet i think their books are closed till next year. i think i personally would post off kl and wait to see what you get back from those agents before you try and more! you have certainly got some of the best in the list.

ellismummy · 28/11/2006 13:36

quad/julie, thats interesting about the casting fees, i didnt realise they dont pay it sometimes. Do you know whether ts pay it every time?, as it does add up when you have to buy train tickets.

Flamesparrow · 28/11/2006 13:39

Well Fine Kids say no to DS. Quick replies are much better than waiting. A standard - he's lovely but we have others type response. He does have a fairly standard face, so am wondering if that will be the same all round?

Flamesparrow · 28/11/2006 13:41

Will have to see about Bubblegum then - thanks I'll get the photos printed off for KL when DH gets paid.

julie4travel · 28/11/2006 13:44

ellismummy- i think ts always pay for castings from what i had read on paperwork (a set fee i think £18) think it all depends on the agent. have you heard back on ua yet? bet you are hovering by the phone a lot

flamesparrow- never mind they are one i personally have not heard of much (only a bit of the last few weeks actually) hopefully one of the others will come up trumps soon

Lolly68 · 28/11/2006 13:52

Ellismummy - I know that when DD was with Es wie had to always fill in a job book for castings and jobs so I think DD got paid for all her castings. Still waiting for payment from ES as DD is with KL now. With KL you get £15-£18 per casting.

yackertyyack · 28/11/2006 14:03

Lolly - glad you got things sorted with KL! It must have been an oversight and they probably said no because she looked like a your little girl!!! if that makes sense!!
With the casting fee we normally get told before a casting if there is going to be one, so if nothing is said i assume no fee!!

Lolly68 · 28/11/2006 14:11

Thanks Yackerty... it was just such a shock to receive that through post. Over it now - just about!!

Tinkerbel5 · 28/11/2006 15:24

Hello, just got up again, had to go back to bed as have another head cold, and as usual as I drifted of to sleep the door and phone goes

lolly wow what a shock you had, I must say I would have been eveywhere if that had been me, glad its now sorted for you x

sha11 hope you sort something out, that is one of the downfalls of telling the school your plans, hopefully all your jobs and castings now will be after school or at weekend and holidays.

hope everyone else is ok x

Lolly68 · 28/11/2006 16:06

Tinks - hope you feel better soon!

Tinkerbel5 · 28/11/2006 16:11

thanks Lolly, have to go out and drive to pick DD up from her book club, just had coffee and biscuits to give me energy
