I don't have any lilac, but have changed my FB pic to some lilac flowers. A silly gesture, maybe, but it's there.

How do they rise up, Rise up, rise up? How do they rise up, Rise up high?

ouryve · 12/03/2015 16:20

Damn this confounded cold :(

I do hope Death treated him well.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 12/03/2015 16:20

My favorite footnote:

Wizard, from the olde english meaning Wise Arse...

Always makes me laugh, i forget what book it's from.

Plexie · 12/03/2015 16:20

Nothing original to add - just another long-term Discworld reader who has gained so much enjoyment from Terry's work and wants to express their sadness at his passing.

RIP Terry

MrsCakesPrecognition · 12/03/2015 16:21

Beyond sad.

Sir Terry's books have given me so much joy, recently I have been sharing them with my DCs. At least the books will always be there, but today is a day for tears.

iamEarthymama · 12/03/2015 16:21

I can't stop crying, I feel such a numpty.
His writing had got me through all the hard things in my life, he's my comfort read.

No more Sam or Tiffany, I am so sad.

And now the tweets!
Oh I am in bits, I am going to have to reread!

How do other people reread?
In groups, the Witches, the Watch, or chronologically?

Fmarf · 12/03/2015 16:22

DD said"why are you crying? You didn't even know him." How to explain? Feel so very emotional. Sad

emummy · 12/03/2015 16:22

Had just started re-reading some of my favorite Pratchett books this week. So sad, but grateful for all the pleasure and hysterical laughter he has brought to our lives over the years.
RIP

UnikittyInHerBusinessSuit · 12/03/2015 16:22

So sorry to hear this, even though in some ways better than the alternative.

I was lucky enough to meet him a few times and he was a genuinely lovely man, of whom our species can be proud.

Titsalinabumsquash · 12/03/2015 16:22

Gutted to hear this.

Thank you Terry for the hours you gave me, lost in your Discworld, I loved every minute of it.
You made reading a joy time after time and I hope you rest splendidly in the crazy, beautiful world you created.

aziraphale · 12/03/2015 16:23

We'll be on Where's My Cow? tonight too in our house. RIP Terry.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 12/03/2015 16:23

I was okay untill i read his last tweets...

MrsPurchase · 12/03/2015 16:26

His books got me through so much. When my heart was breaking, when it finally broke, when I didn't want to try anymore, when I didn't want to feel anymore, I would read about Vimes and Granny and Nanny.
And I would laugh.
He didn't heal me, but he bloody helped.
Sweet dreams Sir Terry.

Feel winded by this.

We need a lilac emoticon. Flowers

HowardTJMoon · 12/03/2015 16:30

I remember buying The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic from WH Smiths in 1988. The Discworld has been a part of my life ever since. I hope he managed to have the dignified and peaceful end that he wanted and deserved.

MrSlant · 12/03/2015 16:32

A genius and giant of a man. I wonder what the empirical measure of pleasure given to quantities of people would be classed as? He must have one of the biggest ever recorded whatever it is.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/03/2015 16:32

The last couple of books of his I've read (The Last Hero and Raising Steam) seemed to bring back a lot of the characters from the past, which was good. (If there is another finished but unpublished I hope it has the witches). I've still got Mrs Bradshaw unread, and The Long Mars which isn't the same but something to look forward to.

kissedbyamoonbeammyarse · 12/03/2015 16:33

His last tweets. Oh my. Sad
He was an inspiration. RIP Terry.
Time to haul out my "Dark in here. Isn't it" Death tshirt
