To be fair on them MrsTerryPratchett i can see the point of view that doing something for one celebrity death would open up unfairness every time someone famous dies.

Bogeyface · 22/03/2015 14:42

But he isnt a celebrity is he?

Some people are more than the sum of their parts, as it were. They do more than write books or sing songs or paint pictures and the world loses something very special on their passing. The vast outpouring of feeling when he died is testament to how important he was to many many people, not least those who will benefit from the money raised in his name, both in life and after death, in the field of Alzheimers research.

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/03/2015 14:45

I don't want to be fair Jason although I do take your point.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 22/03/2015 15:25

But he isnt a celebrity is he?

He was a very celebrated man, a celebrity in every traditional sense of the word.

Now i don't want to argue with you*, but we could say the same for the likes of Nelson Mandela, we didn't get '4664' Smileys for him.

*But I will anyway.

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/03/2015 15:53

I think STP is different well. I would, wouldn't I because there are so many STP names here. People care enough to be called Errol and Nanny. There are barely any of those names left. He's a feature here.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 22/03/2015 16:03

Now let me clutch the last few straws i have at the bottom of the barrel here....
Maybe the Errols are big fans of errol flynn...

Jux · 22/03/2015 16:42

LittleEsmeWeatherwax · 22/03/2015 21:03

Biscuit Have a piece of dwarf bread, Jason.

Grin
ErrolTheDragon · 23/03/2015 21:18

Er, very specifically Errol The Dragon! Dragon - and that was my second TP name.

It does occur to me that perhaps MNHQ should have an 'In Memoriam' topic where RIP-type threads could be deposited for posterity.

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/03/2015 23:27

That's a great plan, Errol Flynn.

RustyBear · 27/03/2015 15:58

The lilac campaign has succeeded! (See the thread in Site Stuff)

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/03/2015 18:54

So happy about this. I think Sir Terry would have approved.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 29/03/2015 08:47

Hurrah re. lilac!!

I like Errol's idea of the In Memoriam topic, brilliant! I shall report your post, Errol, so that MNHQ see it. :)

LittleEsmeWeatherwax · 29/03/2015 13:23

Has Sir Terry's funeral been?
Nothing about it in the press although Im assuming it was very private.
Still Sad
End of a literary era....

Bogeyface · 29/03/2015 13:53

Yes it was Wednesday or Thursday, cant remember now which one.

Rhianna carried her fathers sword which she said was a strange experience!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 29/03/2015 14:09

Lovely interview with Rhianna here (Telegraph).

MeerkaRIPSirTerry · 30/03/2015 13:13

that really was a nice interview, thanks for postin git Gasp0de

Jasonandyawegunorts · 02/04/2015 15:37

Thnaks for that interview Gasp

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 03/04/2015 09:19

That was indeed a lovely interview. She must be devastated to lose, not only her father, but also her "partner in crime", as it were. :(

Any news on moving this thread, MNHQ?

I like the way the artist of the Brick Lane one Updated Josh Kirby's rincewind to match the more modern description from the books.

MrsTerryPratchett · 04/04/2015 15:29

It's funny, when I posted that on FB lots of fans came out of the woodwork. More than I thought.

RustyBear · 25/04/2015 16:45

This was my lilac tree earlier this week - I'm worried that it'll be over before 25th May.

Ankh Morpork must have slightly different seasons to the UK...

SteamTrainsRealAleandOpenFires · 25/04/2015 17:01

Doesn't Discworld have 7a 8 seasons?

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 30/04/2015 08:18

MNHQ - this is still in chat - I know it's only a month old so far but have you thought about where to put it? Please? Don't want to lose it. Thanks
