We are getting to the 1000 limit so I thought I would start a new happy thread!

Welcome londonermum - I have a 9mth old and she is with Elisabeth Smith.

lolalou · 31/10/2006 10:21

Good morning veterans of modelling - can i pick your brains. After along wait for responses we had two offers of representation and signed with a modelling agency BUT typically this week the agency we wanted have offered an assessment! what is the position of signing with two? Has anyone done it? Am reluctant to waste the money on the first one!

mrsratty · 31/10/2006 10:32

lolalou - It depends on the agencies involved, how good they are and whether they are sole rep. Which agency are you with and who said yes?

OP posts:
lolalou · 31/10/2006 10:58

childsplay rascals and scallywags

mrsratty · 31/10/2006 11:05

I don't think there is much difference between them. Scallywags abd childsplay are both large agencies with many on their book so there is alot of competion internally and Rascals probably get the same sort of work but I don't know how big they are.

Rascals and Scallywags are probably better know but they all get work.

welcome londoner mum

lolalou - scallywags are definitely sole rep we were with them last year. They are professional etc yet have a lot of kids on their books. Their service was great yet the fees are high so i changed agencys this year due to this plus we only had 1 job in a year

littlemadam - your ds isn't on a mothercare poster in the shops at teh moment is he? I cant remember if you have mentioned this before or not yet there was a little boy in the window today and his eyes so looked like your ds. will drop you an email too incase you dont see this

lolalou · 31/10/2006 11:08

thanks Julie and Mrsratty - helps with the decision

Lolly68 · 31/10/2006 11:14

Anyone heard from Quad? She hasnt been on for a few weeks.

julie4travel · 31/10/2006 11:17

lolalou- i think one of the other mums on here used to be with rascals and they maybe on later to advise you

lolly - i think you said your dd is with es she isn't in the junior pregnancy mag this month is she? stupid me didn't realise this is different to the other junior mag!

lolalou · 31/10/2006 11:21

julie who did you change to?

julie4travel · 31/10/2006 11:27

lolalou - my ds is with bruce and brown and my daughter is with truly scrumptious. TS fees are high aswell at £170 for a year plus £80 photoshoot yet she wasn't as popular with the agents as my ds and didn't have as many choices of agency. My son had a lot more yes's and it was so lovely putting him with an agent where i didn't have to pay an assesment fee or anything upfront. Although last week he went for his model book photos and the photographer fee was £110

My scallywags photos are the best i have ever had i must admit yet his one job in a year didn't compensate the fees i paid to join. actually one of the babys in junior pregancy mag is from scallywags.

i have paid out for my dd this year with ts to give her a start to see how she goes hopefully she will get some work and maybe next year i can then swop her over to a lower fee agency

londonermum · 31/10/2006 11:33

Thanks for all the welcomes-
Yackerty my older one has done girl talk, tesco, sony, m and s and some other bits and bobs.

My youngest has done m and s, girl talk, the white company, and some education books this year.

They're both very into their acting/performing now though, and both have started auditioning for bits and bobs for film/tv etc.

julie4travel · 31/10/2006 11:40

londonermum- are they with a seperate casting agent too?

You must be very proud for them to have done so well

Lolly68 · 31/10/2006 11:45

Londonermum - wow they have done loads. You must be very proud.

Julie - no that is not Lydia. I would love her to get Junior Preg and baby! The clothers are gorgeous arent they? The little girl on the front is with ES she is called Hazel.

lolalou · 31/10/2006 11:47

thanks for being so honest about the lack of jobs think I've made up my mind!

mrsratty · 31/10/2006 11:56

lolalou - Who are you going to go with? Out of the three I would go for Rascals.

OP posts:
julie4travel · 31/10/2006 11:57

loloalou - good luck in your decisions. Maybe we were just unlucky who knows, yet they have a lot of kids on their books so woudl be internal competition yet the agency were really professional , prompt with updates etc. I did have acceptance from childs play yet didn't do much research on them so cant comment really. Rascals said yes but i think their fees were higher too. Its hard to know what to do for the best.

julie4travel · 31/10/2006 11:59

lolly - will need to look her up on cm net to see her picture. the clothes are lovely

lanismum · 31/10/2006 12:02

welcome londonermum
took dd to a halloween party on sunday, and at the time thought it was a great idea to paint her nails black to look like claws (she wore a cat outfit), and yep, you guessed it, i cant find my nail varnish remover i now need to pop to sainsburys, im wondering if she will wear a pair of gloves
yackerty, ooohh which films? how lovely would it be for your newbord to get a film role!

lanismum · 31/10/2006 12:04

newborn, obviously!

londonermum · 31/10/2006 12:11

Julie4travel- yes they are with Byron's for acting work- are your kids with an acting agent too?

julie4travel · 31/10/2006 12:17

londonermum- unfortuately b and b are sole rep so when my ds got accepted we had to drop the casting agent. I had hoped MOT would have said yes to them both then be with the casting agent. The casting agent was so lovely that if my ds decides he purely wants to continue with the acting side of things instead of modelling I would go straight back. At this moment in time he says he enjoys it all and cant decide! He is 6 years old so will see what happens over the next year

Lolly68 · 31/10/2006 12:21

Julie - if you go to ES website and go to the 2nd page of babies 0-23 - she is there. Lydia Jones. She also on their home page.

londonermum · 31/10/2006 12:25

That's a real shame Julie...an advantage of MOT...although I think B & B tend to get the flashier, more high profile jobs?

I thought B & B allowed you to have a casting agent though...as I know a little boy who is with B & B purely for photgraphic and a casting agent for acting?
