Meant to say Hi Zing Flowers but I guess you've zinged off again.

Tut! Anyone would think you were busy Grinx

magimedi · 03/09/2014 10:53

Tiger Inn in East Dean? Yes. Haven't been for ages.

Hope you have also got this lovely Sepetember weather, Zombie.

mummylin2495 · 03/09/2014 20:47

Hi Zombie, hope you have had another good day today and that you have been enjoying the same sunshine that we have had here. Just been out for a meal with a couple of my siblings and my dh, went to a local pub, was very nice, came home to find my ds has been round and bought s a plateful of homemade scones, for some reason e has started making them, but I have to say he is a very good cook, but dosent normally make cakes etc !! Of course I had to try one straight away, so that on top of my dinner has made me feel completely stuffed ! Have a good chat tonight with your DS And sleep well.

IamtheZombie · 04/09/2014 15:27

That's it magi, we used to reward ourselves with a drink there on the way home from a day at Burling Gap with the kids/dogs Grin

Thanks for heads-up Z, Barbie is such a sweetheart.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 05/09/2014 08:18

Very pleased to report Barbie is just now on her way home with a nice calm bump Smile

mummylin2495 · 05/09/2014 18:12

Glad to see the good news about Barbie.

How are you today Zombie ? It is a very dull day here and it's hot really cold from about 5pm. Real Autumn weather.
You seem to of been really well through this cycle of your treatment, if the last two are the same you will be delighted I'm sure.

ChickyEgg · 05/09/2014 20:38

How are you Zombie? I check back to this thread to read your news. Flowers

IamtheZombie · 05/09/2014 20:40

Evening all.

I have felt a lot better this time, mummy. That's partly learning how to keep on top of the side effects. We'll have to see how the next cycle goes as the dosage is being increased. I will need to give myself the bone marrow stimulating injection for 5 days instead of 3 days.

In other Zombie news:

DSD1 arrives on Sunday for a couple of days. It's been nearly 2 years since I've seen her. I'm looking forward to seeing her but apprehensive about topics of conversation (i.e. her dad and me).

My son left Denver on Sunday and arrived back in Virginia on Tuesday night. By Wednesday night he had his first job interview arranged for yesterday. The interview went very well and he's going back today for a follow up interview. Given the time difference, he's probably there now. He originally thought he was interviewing for a mechanic's position but it turned out they are looking for a foreman to manage the shop AND the pay is much better than he was expecting. I foresee a late night waiting for news!

mummylin2495 · 05/09/2014 22:00

Fingers crossed that Zombieson is successful in getting his job !!!

I hope you will have a fabulous weekend with your DSD and that the conversations just flow. Please don't tire yourself by trying to do too much though. Lets hope the sun shines so you can maybe sit out in the garden with maybe some Wine

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 06/09/2014 00:13

Oh Zombie, all those little details of your son's life are so precious.

So easy to take for granted, but reading that is so moving because I know how much you will be revelling in it.

I hope he gets the job, and I hope you get to hear tonight.

(((big hugs))) and lots of love xxx

magimedi · 07/09/2014 08:30

Another one rooting for DS - hope all has gone well.

And I hope you are having a lovely relaxing time with DSD - however akward you may feel, she will as well & don't forget she chose to come & see you.

mummylin2495 · 07/09/2014 11:28

Hope your weekend is going well and you are having lots of conversations with your SD. Fingers crossed here that your Ds has good news and I hope you are feeling well.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 08/09/2014 11:06

Morning Z Smile

I hope you had a good bonding w/e wih your DSD and that you have the wonderful blue sky that we have today.

mummylin2495 · 09/09/2014 21:19

Hi Zombie, hope you had an enjoyable weekend. Has your SD gone home now ? Any news on Zombiesons job ? You seem to of ben quite well during this course of chemo, let's hope the stronger dose is the same for you . 4 down only 2 to go !!! Is your next apt next week ?

Allalonenow · 09/09/2014 22:23

Sorry I've not posted recently.
Hope it's good news about your DS's job interview.
Also that all is going well with your DSD's visit, and that laughter and Cake have been the order of the day rather than soul searching.
All very best wishes xx

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 10/09/2014 19:06

Thinking of you Zombie, hope all OK Smile Flowers

mummylin2495 · 10/09/2014 22:55

Hope all is well with you Zombie and that you are continuing to feel relatively well. Thinking of you.

IamtheZombie · 11/09/2014 11:52

Morning! Apologies for recent radio silence but it's been a bit hectic here.

The visit with DSD1 went very well. She wanted advice from me about her relationship with her partner. That inevitably led to a degree of soul searching and discussion about her dad and me. That went better than I could have hoped. There was also a lot of laughter and, while Cake wasn't involved, copious quantities of Wine were.

DS has a job offer from another company he interviewed with on Monday. He should be able to start next week. It's still more money than he had been expecting so all is good. He will live with his mum and dad initially which does mean an hour and a half commute to work but he's quite happy with that.

My 5th cycle of chemo / 4th cycle of Herceptin were yesterday. It's easiest if I just C&P my FB status updates from yesterday.

At 11.00 yesterday morning:

Oops! The CDC ward clerk has just rung. Someone switched my appointment time back to 10.30 and didn't tell her! Time to get my skates on and get to the hospital ASAP.

At 8.00 yesterday evening:

Finally home after a long day. If it could go wrong, it did.

As I was leaving for the hospital I discovered that my neighbour hadn't put out my bin nor my recycling boxes. I had already heard the bin lorries go through so it will be another fortnight.

I had a bit of trouble securing my seatbelt fastened. When I arrived at the hospital I discovered it was now jammed. Cue becoming a bit of a contortionist to extricate myself.

I arrived in the CDC at 12.30. Piriton and Herceptin were up and running by 1.00 and finished just before 2.00. Anyone care to guess when the pharmacy finally sent my Docetaxel to the CDC? How does 4.00 sound? They had 'missed' the script somehow so it became a late order. Apparently those are usually still delivered by 1.00 but not today. I finally escaped in search of my by now KFC dinner.

Contortion into seatbelt at hospital and out of seatbelt at KFC.

KFC weren't having the best day either. Some chump had superglued a cup to the table next to mine. Poor manager took nearly 15 minutes scraping it off.

Back into seatbelt and home. Out of seatbelt and into the house.

First job was to feed the cats. That's when I discovered that I had forgotten to put the pork roast back into the fridge late last night when I had a sandwich as a midnight snack. It was wrapped in both cling film and foil. It was on the floor with foil discarded and cling film breached. Corner of joint missing with only cat teeth marks left behind.

My car has also developed an intermittent squeak which I HOPE is just the new discs and brake pads bedding in. Anyway, combined with the jammed seatbelt I will be on the phone to my garage early in the morning.

May I have a drink now?

I rang the garage this morning and the car is booked in for tomorrow morning.

So far other than a bit of steroid driven hyperness I'm feeling well. I start my injections this afternoon.

And that's what Zombie has been up to! Grin

mummylin2495 · 11/09/2014 12:13

Oh I was a week out for your chemo then Zombie ! Only 1 to go yeah !
It does sound like you have had a busy time of it, now maybe you should give yourself a bit of chill time.
My old dog used to do what your cats have done regarding the meat, except the dog would eat anything including candles ! He also would tip over a pan of fat if I left it on top of the cooker to get cold, then it would all drip down and he would eat it !
Glad you enjoyed your time with your DSD.
Good news about Zombieson and his new job.
It's a nuisance about the bins, we have missed a couple of times and I find it very annoying, we forgot the garden bin the other day, but luckily I heard the lorry , shot out of bed and just got it out in time.
Do take it easy and I hope you don't have too many side effects. Flowers

Barbie1 · 11/09/2014 15:23

Hello zombie

I managed to find you again and wish to thank for for supporting me at a time when we should be supporting you.

I'm glad I'm back...

Off to catch up
With your recent developments x

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 11/09/2014 19:16

Really pleased you had such a good time with DSD and well done Ds getting that job.

What a day you had on Wednesday! I have to admit I giggled about imagining you trying to climb out of your seat belt, sorry Grin
I would have been absolutely livid but would have ended up laughing.
Probably!

Cats are real buggers for nicking meat. My friend had 2 Siamese cats who turned up through her bedroom window, via the fire escape, with a whole, hot, leg of roast lamb one Sunday lunch time Shock !

No comment about the car, just hope it's nothing.

You really deserved that drink Smile

Only one chemo to go now sweetheart, you've done brilliantly Flowers

You deserve this one now too >>>Wine

cin cin!

IamtheZombie · 12/09/2014 20:30

Evening all.

I dropped the car off at the garage at 9.30 and met my friend and her baby for breakfast at 10.00. Baby is now 8.5 months old and weighs a stonking 21 lb! She's crawling and pulling herself up to stand. She is absolutely adorable!

I collected the car just before 1.00. Seatbelt unjammed and squeaky / squeally brakes now blessedly silent.

A quick run around Sainsbury's to get food for the weekend and then home. Up and in bed for a nap by 3.00. I had to take my injection at 4.15 so took it upstairs and set an alarm. Then I went back to sleep for a couple more hours.

My sense of taste is well and truly scuppered this time. It's like eating cardboard. Tasteless and generally yuck.

After the steroid hyperdrive comes the steroid crash. Mood is rapidly falling. At least I know this will only last for a day or two.

No aches or pains yet but I am absolutely knackered. I had hoped to feel up to going to Ludlow Food Festival tomorrow but that's flown straight out the window. Tomorrow I will be having a very serious duvet day.

Please don't anyone fret about me. I'm actually fine. I just have some tough days to get through.

mummylin2495 · 12/09/2014 21:40

Sorry you are suffering from the side affects. I suppose it was to be expected because you had a larger dose of chemo this time. I hope the bad days soon pass for you. Don't worry about posting, we will know why.
Glad your car is now back to normal. Especially the seat belt, I'm sure you don't want to be a contortionist every time you use your car ! Sleep well and see you back here when you feel up to it.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 13/09/2014 17:14

Hi Z glad the car is sorted, bloody things.

Shame about food tasting yuck, do try to eat when you can though sweetheart.

I'm sure there are other Food Festivals you can go to when you're feeling better, no point pushing it when you're so tired.

Some BearBearBears for your duvet day/s.

As they're saying on a couple of other threads - KOKO ( Keep On Keeping On)
You're nearly there now.
