THUMBS - Hope your day goes well tomorrow. Did your DD2 wear a pink tshirt with a sweater tied round her neck at any of her M&S shoots???

ellesmum · 05/09/2006 22:41

hi yackety was wondering how long your lo has been with kids london? how old is she? sounds like shes doing great!

ellesmum · 05/09/2006 22:46

sorry, just looked down on to your other message your ds

yackertyyack · 05/09/2006 22:50

Hi Ellesmum,
My DD has only just joined Kids as she is only just over a month old (she hasn't had any work yet!) Its THUMBSes little girl who is always busy!

yackertyyack · 05/09/2006 22:52

Sorry Xpost - have DS with them as well, he has been with them for just under a year!

ellesmum · 05/09/2006 23:15

my dd has been with them for a month and had 1 job, are your los in their model book? does it make a difference do u think? am thinking of putting my dd in their model book but its alot of money to do and dont know if its worth it.

yackertyyack · 05/09/2006 23:20

My LO isn't in the model book as he is too young - they have to be over 3 to be included. Not sure if the book would generate more work or not, I got the impression that clients selected faces from the portfolios online although I could be wrong. Someone with older children may be able to help - when is the book shoot?

sha11 · 05/09/2006 23:21

you know the ad on the right, Boden, wonder what agency the kids are with and if their mums ever come on here and say 'thats my ds dd on there'

P.S if mumsnet ever need child models, they know where to look!!!

ellesmum · 05/09/2006 23:23

oh didnt realise they have to be 3 my dd is 3 in december, and the model book shoot is in october so wont be able to do it, will prob try it when shes a bit older.

ellesmum · 05/09/2006 23:25

i often wondered that shall they parents are prob un aware their kids are on this site!

cowmad · 06/09/2006 00:32

Thanks very much all to my question posed 12.30 tuesday.
Your all clearly busy congratulating each other (a little too much methinks!)an comparing jobs/notes to answer a small question.
You`ve all just re-affirmed my concerns about failed model-themselves parents.
Im sorry ladies, but with this simple act youve pretty much hung yerselves!!

I was so hoping that wouldnt be the case but alas....... sad so sad

magicfarawaytree · 06/09/2006 01:15

can anyone recommend a good agency in Manchester! please. many thanks

dylansluckymum · 06/09/2006 08:25

cowmad, the first few times i posted in this thread i didn't get much of a response either but in defense of the mums on here (and there are quite a few) the posts sometimes go up so fast if someone's in the middle of a conversation that others get lost in the shuffle. i can see that littlemadam did respond to you at 4.10 ... i wonder if you even saw that? also there are some other new mums on here that asked questions since that did get more of a response, i think purely due to timing of message and who was online it was overlooked as many people are londoners and may not have known the answer to your question (like me!).

i've take my ds to one job so far, it's a way for us to get out of the house and hopefully meet some other mums and tots, and we both really enjoyed it. and yes, it's nice to have a place to chat with others that are more experienced with the industry and maybe get a pat on the back for your child getting a good job. but if you felt the way you've described here about the modelling industry then why would you even consider putting you child in it in the first place?

mrratty · 06/09/2006 09:41

dylansluckymum - Every so often this thread blows up into a massive argument. Everything you said was correct, she had a response and most of us if not all use london based agencies. Somwtimes people just want to cause trouble and there is just no point responding as there are always lurkers around waiting to critise us.
magicfarawaytree - on other sites I have heard that Boss and DK are good agencies in your area.

lanismum · 06/09/2006 09:58

cowmad, yawn, are there no breastfeeding threads to stir up?

strawberrymilkshake · 06/09/2006 10:02

Morning all, looks like its going to go off on here again lol.

My dd school is really annoying me, they still havnt emailed the concil with the ok for her job tomorrow, the concil rang me this morning and told me if she dosnt hear from them but lunch time today will not be able to get the licence. I have given her the schools number and she is going to ring them direct if she dosnt hear in the next couple of hours.

julie4travel · 06/09/2006 10:17

strawb- what a palava! bet you are really frustrated.

I got a copy of my ds licence today in the post, was getting worried as i hadn't had it and apparently they normally send them direct to the film company. At least i have a copy incase their was any problems.

Fingers crossed it goes through, i am sure dd would be really upset if she couldn't go due to a bit of paperwork

strawberrymilkshake · 06/09/2006 10:22

Yes i think she will be, when dd done cartoon i had the licence sent to me, but its different this time. The lady at the concil is really nice, but i think shes getting a bit frustrated herself now.

When as ds got to go up for the film, will he be getting any money for it, will they pay your travelling costs.

I have had the details through for dds shoot, she has to dress as if shes going to the park, with no logos on clothes. Does anyone know if she can were named trainers as she has'nt got any without a name, otherwise i will have to put her in flip flops, she has one pair of trainers with no name on but their really foggie. lol

ellesmum · 06/09/2006 10:23

hi everyone just had a phone call from kids saying they have possibly got her a job with marks and spencers for today! talk about short notice!

will let u know if they call back with a definate yes!

strawberrymilkshake · 06/09/2006 10:25

good luck ellesmum

littlemadam · 06/09/2006 10:35

Fingers crossed ellesmum. Hasn't Thumbs got a job with M and S today as well with her DD?? You might see each other!

littlemadam · 06/09/2006 10:37

Strawberry, our council rang the school for DS's licence for Friday instead of a letter, and they were fine (I hope!) Sure the trainers will be OK, could the name be covered if necessary, or just take both in case!!

strawberrymilkshake · 06/09/2006 10:39

your right i should take both, but i will have to really fight with her to put the no named ones on, kids!
