good luck julie thats really good, do you know what the castings for?

ellesmum · 05/09/2006 19:06

thats great news julie, hope it comes through for your ds!

julie4travel · 05/09/2006 19:33

thanks for all your help. i was quick on the phone to b and b as I was just loading the car up at tescos (always the way) , i cant even remember what she said it was for just that it was oxfordshire which i think isn't too far drive from me, and a possibility at this moment in time and no def details. think i should be carrying a notepad with me in my handbag!

we shall see if anything comes from it, quite a lot of notice actually as not till teh 19th which is good

Fingers crossed

julie4travel · 05/09/2006 19:34

alliebongo do you not do castings purely jobs only? what agency are you with again?

AllieBongo · 05/09/2006 19:38

No i don't do castings. It was to far to travel all the time at our own cost. Also getting dd looked after and no guarantee of work. We're with MOT. Just told them, and they were fine. We've done 2 jobs and had to calls for jobs this week (one was dry nites and I know for a fact ds wouldn't do that the other was today for milletts. I won't take him out of school unless he really wants to do it, or it's end of term etc

Curlylox · 05/09/2006 19:49

Hi all am intrigued. What are the pros and cons for having your child doing modelling please?

AllieDelOllio · 05/09/2006 19:50

pros: I take all the money and sit on my arse.
cons: there are none

julie4travel · 05/09/2006 19:52

allie thats good that mot allow that. maybe if it gets too much in the future i will have to think of that yet at this moment in time i will try for anything. we had a casting for a commercial and i worked out i spend £50 all in all train tickets etc to get their for 2 mins inside. i would love my ds to have the opportunity of a commercial though so recon i don't mind paying out for him to get the opportunity. maybe if he gets lots of work (i am being hopeful) i will make that decision

that will be lovely if this job is with no casting if he gets it!

AllieDelOllio · 05/09/2006 19:53

No really, my ds likes to earn his own money, and this way he learns the value of things more. He enjoys posing and meeting people and playing with the stuff he is photographed with. If he doesn't want to do a job, we just turn it down, school and everything else comes first. We get to spend time together and have fun picnics in the car, or on the tube.
There can be a little waiting about, but as long as there is food and toys he is happy hth

Curlylox · 05/09/2006 19:53

Ok but is it better to do it if you're a SAHM as I work part-time. Got the impression when "job" come along only given a moments notice or have I got that completely wrong??

AllieDelOllio · 05/09/2006 19:53

Yes Julie, they are the best ones

julie4travel · 05/09/2006 19:54

Curlylox - i think the confidence is the big bonus life skills wise! it makes my son a confident little boy. cons can be castings where you take the kids and they don't get the job (having to tell them that someone else was chosen)

AllieDelOllio · 05/09/2006 19:54

yes curly, it is all very short notice. I have a younger daughter and I work p/t also but my work are very flexible and family help out with dd. We just take it all very light hearted and see it as a bit of fun

julie4travel · 05/09/2006 19:55

Curlylox - i work yet are self employed so can be flexible around my work

Curlylox · 05/09/2006 19:58

Allie & Julie are you both based in London? I heard that Scallywags, Elisabeth Smith and Truly Scrumptious are reputable?

AllieDelOllio · 05/09/2006 20:01

no, i think we live quite near to each other. I live in suffolk, not far from cambridge

julie4travel · 05/09/2006 20:09

Curlylox - I am Cambridgeshire

My ds was with Scallywags last year, they are reputable. Professional etc. They have loads of kids on their books therefore my ds only had 1 job last year so i have changed agencies.

My dd starts with ts in January her first time doing modelling. so hope it goes well as she is three. They get loads of work apparantently and i think roughly have about 350 kids on their books where as scallywags was more like 1000.
Both their fees are quite high i paid £170 for my dd with ts and scallywags was about £200 i think when i had my sons renewal.

he has gone with b and b who will take £25 from his first job and dont charge an assesment fee (which is normally about £25- £30)

AllieDelOllio · 05/09/2006 20:10

curly, we are with MOT who are very good also. I have never paid a penny.

Curlylox · 05/09/2006 20:14

Sorry but would you enlighten me "MOT" please

julie4travel · 05/09/2006 20:17

hi the website is www.motmodels.co.uk

there is a list of agencies profiles etc on this website www.childmodelling.net which will help you with websites, set up fees etc based on parents points of view

Mot said no to my kids - they are non sole rep so would have been superb if they took them

Curlylox · 05/09/2006 21:13

Julie & Allie you have both been very helpful but please can you tell me what agency is b and b?

julie4travel · 05/09/2006 21:18

Bruce and brwon

www.bruceandbrown.com you cant see the models on their as its password protected. If you send details to them they can take up to three weeks to hear back.

a good agency urban angels opens their books in November and think charge about £40. there is a lot of happy mums on here who are with them

mrratty · 05/09/2006 21:20

My DD is five and she has quick jobs, which to the rest of us are castings and long jobs, which are jobs. I'm not sure how long it will be until she realsies that the quick jobs lead to long jobs! This way she doesn't get the disappointment of not getting a job.

julie4travel · 05/09/2006 21:23

mratty- good thinking! lucky my son has only had 1 casting so far so never queried it!

mrratty · 05/09/2006 21:33

She'll wise up to it one day!
For some children it can be really hard to take which I imagine can make them feel negative at castings as they may think they won't get the job. It's a bit of fun for her and hopefully it will always stay that way.
