Zombie's journey with breast cancer

The thread that Val started has now been moved to General Health. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_health/2016081-Zombie-needs-her-limbs-holding?msgid=46439734

Please keep posting there if you wish.

As most of you know, I'm having my second mastectomy on Thursday. I will almost certainly need to have more chemotherapy.

This is my thread for those who wish to walk beside me on my journey.

Here's to a sparkling clean Zombie!

Even if that is a oxymoron Grin

GingerRodgers · 29/04/2014 19:51

Glad to hear your news zombie.
How is your friend doing?
Thanks

IamtheZombie · 29/04/2014 21:23

Thanks all. Smile

Ginger, all I've heard is from her partner about lunchtime. She was out of recovery and sleeping off the anaesthetic. The really good news is that that means she had a general anaesthetic and not a local. Her surgeon often gives these injections under a local but he had told her that would still be too painful for her and she should have a general. But when she got all the admission info from the hospital they were talking about a local. Ally was really worried about that but sounds like it went well.

How does Zombie manage such a wrinkle free abdomen?

That's what I want to know. You...you... Zombie you Grin xxx

AlpacaPicnic · 30/04/2014 00:14

Thank you for being so brave and posting your pictures. They reminded me of these amazing photos that I originally saw last year mastectomy tattoos

IamtheZombie · 30/04/2014 00:15

Because it's a fat abdomen, Bee. The only part of me that is...

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 30/04/2014 00:29

DEFINITELY smiley! Gorgeous. Like the rest of you Wink

IamtheZombie · 30/04/2014 00:36

I'm quite ready for full on hugs, Alpaca. ;)

I've seen some of those before. I may well ask my surgeon if it's safe for me to have some done once I'm through all the treatments. I can get the rose on my left shoulder blade refreshed while I'm at it.

Right so tomorrow I'm going back to the Princess Royal to have my seroma (build up of fluid under the wound) checked out to see if it should be drained. It's no big deal and will give me the chance for a) a MaccyD breakfast and b) a wander around some shops afterwards. Grin

OP posts:
magimedi · 30/04/2014 22:38

Enjoy your breakfast & your wander & I hope all is OK with the wound.

IamtheZombie · 30/04/2014 22:45

It will be fine, magi. The other option was wait and watch. But, with a weekend looming, I'd rather have it looked at by the experts.

magimedi · 30/04/2014 22:58

Very 'groan up' (as DS says) !

Good plan!
