clinkety-clink Wine Wink

sanssoleil · 26/03/2014 20:33

Just back in SmileWineclink

Have been revising my car marques Blush

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 26/03/2014 20:56

There was a Renault that was very similar to a Deux Chevaux.
Had a bloody gear stick protruding out of the dashboard, my friend had one. Was nightmare on the hills round here.
Renault 4 ?

sanssoleil · 26/03/2014 21:28

My music teacher had one of those Renaults and that was pretty awful but the nunmobile was a cartoon car in comparison.

Have you been eaten out of house and home yet?

I need to buy up all the ripe aubergines tomorrow...

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 26/03/2014 22:21

Not eaten out of house and home much more than usual.

There have been some heated exchanges as to the whereabouts of some very lovely ham though!

How did you know Grin

Aubergines are funny buggers.

I only really like them heavily salted and charred on a griddle.

More than prepared to accept that's down to my inadequacy, rather than theirs.

IamtheZombie · 26/03/2014 22:26

The Deux Chevaux was one of those cars you either loved or hated.

Aubergines are one of those vegetables you either love or hate. Or love when someone prepares it well and hate when you prepare it yourself and it's bitter shite.

OP posts:
sanssoleil · 26/03/2014 22:37

Well the Farsi/Arabic translation of the dish I am preparing is 'The Sultan Swooned' Grin obvs it was so yummy and heavenly!

I am not to keen on the pomegranate factor in these feasts-such a meh fruit ime-I remember vividly my disappointment age 7 at my first tasting-
I was Persephone in a school play.....

magimedi · 26/03/2014 22:48

Imam Bayaldi (sp?) sans?

Can I come round to yours, please. I love aubergines - I will bring Wine

sanssoleil · 26/03/2014 22:54

Yay magi-didn't want to be all poncey but thatis the dish.

You are very welcome, depending on the guests and the night we may have to drink in those bistro tumblers and pretend we are on the cranberry juice Grin

I am actually making flatbreads and proper hummus

-and spitroasting a baa lamb in the garden

SmileWinkSmile

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 26/03/2014 23:23

Are you having a party sol?

Sounds and smells fab.

sanssoleil · 26/03/2014 23:36

Its a week or so of feasting for the Persian New Year-and bit of an open house if you are 'doing' it.

Usually Wine isn't a problem, but a few neighbours are stricter and out of respect we don't offer or drink.

Just joking about the spitroasting of a baa lamb-I had to endure 'Live Lambing' this evening and well....baa baaa

Although the sparks from a spitroast may well spark a fiery demise of the jeffing industrial trampoline that colonises the lawn

I can deal with cooking this food a few times a year but soo labour intensive

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 26/03/2014 23:53

So, do you all take it in turns to host during the week?

I'd love that. The old man would have to be dragged kicking and screaming, unsociable bugger.

I did think you were veggie, but realise , of course, you might cook meat for other people.

That trampoline seems to be a bit of a recurring irritant in your life.
Time to rethink ?

sanssoleil · 27/03/2014 00:05

It is not at all organised although my sister wants to get out a spreadsheetGrin

People just turn up,mostly my contacts are secular but I live in a road with a few religious observant people....

The men tend to watch tv and talk about cricket/gadgets-or do 'comfortable silence' Grin

I was veggie for many years but I eat fish/chicken and anything else when I am a guest-I have always cooked meat for people.

I think that the trampoline maybe represents my physical demise Sad

But lots of people enjoy it and it is an icebreaker so I just need to get over myself

Can anyone think of a good film for the weekend[!]?

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 27/03/2014 01:11

Hmm, your sister and her spreadsheet are interesting. She sounds lovely, and you two are obviously close.

But you are the rock, and the roots.

I'd be very reticent about suggesting movies for you as you seek out interesting arty stuff and I'm pretty mainstream.

I love the theatricality of Moulin Rouge, although Nicole Kidman gives me the pip usually.

And I like "A Life Less Ordinary". Coincidental same leading man.

sanssoleil · 27/03/2014 04:58

I don't think it is NK theatricality per se- I think that all Baz Luhrmann later films feel like they are going to pour out of the screen and hit you!

Thanks,haven't seen the other.

We are very close now,but big age difference.

sanssoleil · 27/03/2014 20:55

Sending lots of love for everybody for tomorrowWineFlowers

Would be a complete hypocrite to say to Zombie 'have an early night'

But have a maccy D for me Zee

DoctorTwo · 27/03/2014 21:16

I have fingers etc crossed for tomorrow Zombie.

Wrt the 2CV, I love it. I seem to remember there used to be a 24 hour race for them in Ireland, which sounds pretty daft. Don't see the point in aubergines, sorry.

magimedi · 27/03/2014 22:20

Everything - including legs- crossed as tightly as they can be for you tomorrow, Zombie.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 27/03/2014 23:14

Thinking of Zombie, wishing her luck and strength for tomorrow.

WineFlowers and lots of love xxx

IamtheZombie · 27/03/2014 23:43

Evening Dustbin™.

Zombie is going to bed shortly. (Yeah, right...)

She is thinking calm soothing thoughts. No matter what happens tomorrow, she will be fine. She always is.

She will be back to play tomorrow night (but not between 9.00pm-10pm when the new episode of NCIS is on).

You all know how much she appreciates your support. xxx
