Hello...

OP posts:
dylansluckymum · 17/08/2006 12:30

can someone pls explain the licensing thing to me? i thought the client was responsible, not the model?? is it only when they have to miss school? i'm confused.

julie4travel · 17/08/2006 12:47

dylansluckymummy- others will have more info on this all i know is my ds had to have a day off school and we had to get the teacher to sign permission off school, a drs note to say medically fit ( you can get one for 6 months and some agencies like b and b ask for it when taking the child on their books incase a licence is needed ) four or 2 passport sized photos and a form filled in by you as the parent. each county has its own website with information on licences and forms to download on it etc. Personally if i was you I would get a few of the bits ready liek drs note and passport pictures incase a licence is needed. I had to take the forms to my local county hall for them to grant the licence. the agency contacted the county hall direct to check it had been granted etc. Its a bit of a pain yet not all jobs require them yet i dont know what the exact criteria is if you need a licence or what!

Tinkerbel5 · 17/08/2006 13:38

afternoon everyone

just took the medical letter round to the surgery and ask the receptionist if she could just get the doctor to sign it saying DD is in good health, oh no, she said that the doctor might have to see her first and they have an appointment for next thursday got to walk back round there after 3pm so she can let me know eitherway, and its going to cost me £18

b & b didnt mention me applying for a license so I assume once they have the passport photos and medical letter they will get a license when needed, but then am I supposed to get it myself Im not sure ?.

julie4travel well done to you're son getting into b & b also

Tinkerbel5 · 17/08/2006 13:40

sorry yummymummy good luck for the job

Tinkerbel5 · 17/08/2006 13:48

me again

just seen that princess mel paid £28 for her doctors letter

dylansluckymum · 17/08/2006 14:09

so if it relates to time off school does that mean that a baby won't need one? i did the passport photos/drs cert etc for b&b so i guess i just won't worry about it until they tell me otherwise!

julie4travel · 17/08/2006 14:19

dylansluckymummy- i think sometimes licences are still required for babies although they prob wont want the teachers form bit filled in. I think it all depends on the job.

Tink- thanks how old is your little one? Have you had teh paperwork through from b and b yet? I have and they ask for all the info to be sent to them for a licence incase a licence is needed on a job. I have been photocopying my sons birth certificate etc today to get it all posted back to them asap

tigeryuan · 17/08/2006 14:21

dylansluckymum - i think it depends on the model agency. my ds is two and a half. BK requires us to provide a dr. note (by law). But, MOT not seemed to bother!

ellesmum · 17/08/2006 14:39

yummy good luck with the job!

the practicle parenting mag with my and mykidsmum dd in it will be out in october.

Tinkerbel5 · 17/08/2006 15:52

Julie DD is 5, got the paperwork through yesterday so today I photocopied her birth certificate and then had passport photos taken of her, just got the signed medical cert. back from the doctor and he charged me £10.50

Going to send everything off tomorrow so fingers crossed they will get that on monday and all systems go from there.

julie4travel · 17/08/2006 15:59

tink- shame we have opposite sex children as we probably would have been at the same sort of castings. my ds has just turned 6 yet is small for his age so could get younger jobs too. my drs is closed tried calling about his form. it was funny only a week or two ago i got him in teh train station photo booth for photos and they were terrible. teh first one had me in it second teh side of his head, third a bit to low and forth he was pulling a face as thought it was funny! I did laugh though as the pictures were commical. My dds photos i took her into an actual photo place so i didn't have the same mistake and hers are perfect! we just had his passport ones done and they are terrible as they cant smile in them so hopeing my mum has took some additional ones on the digital camera today whicha re a bit happier!

Tinkerbel5 · 17/08/2006 17:08

you never know Julie if a casting needs boys and girls we will probably bump into you which would be nice.

nightmare getting photos done isnt it, I took DD into a photo shop earlier and the machine was broken, so I had to drive to the next town and find another photo shop.

I didnt know what kind of photo they wanted so DD has a nice smile one which I hope will be ok, the woman took a couple and on the screen I chose the best one, thats if she was supposed to be smiling in the pics lol

yackertyyack · 17/08/2006 17:27

Hi all,
Don't think it matters whether they are smiling or not the pics are just used on the council form. I order a set of eight passport size photos from tesco photobox and i just choose a pic of DS face. Each license application needs 2 pics so its easier to have spares.
We are on a commercial casting tomorrow.... they are interested in DS & DD so fingers crossed!!!

ellesmum · 17/08/2006 17:30

thats sounds great yackety good luck 4 tommorow!!!!!

Tinkerbel5 · 17/08/2006 18:29

Quadrophenia · 17/08/2006 19:27

Haven't heard on asda yet, but its a while off so maybe still will (fingers crossed for all of us with kids waiting)!!
Hope you all okay and good luck for anyone with jobs castings etc xx

Quadrophenia · 17/08/2006 19:28

Good luck for tomorrow yakerty

julie4travel · 17/08/2006 19:32

yackerty- good luck for tommorow

tink- hopefully we will get lots of work soon and bump into each other

housemum · 17/08/2006 20:33

Re photos for licensing - I just print them out at home on photo paper - I think they are just for ID purposes to show that the child being licensed is the one that turns up, so I do a digital pic then crop it to the size of a passport photo showing just her head, stick it into a word doc twice and press print (I'm not a techy geek, there's probably a better way than using word). I'm not sure when they need licenses - it may be just for acting as the only time I've seen one actually used was when she was in a commercial (she was 1 year old).

princessmel · 17/08/2006 20:34

Hi everyone,
Just thought I'd pop in and say hi
Yackerty> Is the tesco photobox where you get your lo's passport pics the same as the machine you get the digital pictures done in? We need to get more done. We had the first ones done in a camera shop but it would be so much easier if a machine could do it using one of the pics I've taken with my digital camera. Is that what you did?
Tinker5> £28 for a letter is so expensive isn't it? I'm going to haggle next time! Actually it wasn't even a letter. He just signed a form I gave him from the agency.
Good luck to all with jobs and castings etc.. x

sha11 · 17/08/2006 20:41

has anyone applied or been shortlisted for the children/catalogue ref:starnow, further down?

sha11 · 17/08/2006 20:42

who was it that recently did the m&s corporate shoot, I got offered it this weekend, day 9-9pm but have a wedding to attend. was it a paid job?

YummyMummy21 · 17/08/2006 21:03

Hi All,
Blimey, what a day LoL.

My guess was correct, we had to do the same thing as at the casting, only more exagerated and for a longer period of time. What Fun

They seemed to really love DD and although she had a few moments where she said "NO MORE" she was generally really good and everyone commented on how beautiful she was, how well behaved and how good her speech is which is always nice to hear.
It wasnt for a TV ad like I was told at casting, but were 'stills' that will be used on Billboards, bus stop posters and in parenting mags (if her pics are used, I really hope they are).

Ohh Yea, whilst she was restling a giant Tiger she feel face first into the floor and put her teeth through her lip. Ouch!!! The shoot was in a really lovely house, and luckly was only a 15 min drive away from where we live

Hope that everyone is well. I havnt had chance to catch up yet so will have a look through the days posts now and see whats been happening.

Take Care xXx
p.s Sorry for the lengthly post

housemum · 17/08/2006 21:47

Just finished watching Anthea - OMG that programme makes me feel twitchy so off to have a quick whip round as hubby working late! Does anyone know how fold a flipping fitted sheet (2ManyPimms can you help??) - would rather learn that than a t-shirt as I hate wrestling with the blasted things!!

yackertyyack · 17/08/2006 22:34

Will let you know how the casting goes tomorrow!
Princessmel - Tescophotobox is an online site, I choose my favourite photo of DS and then order it in passport size - they always arrive the next day. They are handy to put in your purse as well!!
