Yes scented tampons, not scented adverts. Does anyone else find the idea revolting? I actually shrieked in horror at the advert

OP posts:
sweetmonkey · 27/07/2006 12:45

they do smell nice though

MrsJohnCusack · 27/07/2006 12:45

oh no I haven't seen the adverts
this kind of thing makes me go a bit ballistic, it implies that women smell wrong etc. and surely it can't be a brilliant idea healthwise?

see I don't even need to see it to start chuntering!

roisin · 27/07/2006 12:46

Yes. Made me shudder.

sweetmonkey · 27/07/2006 12:47

argh bloody keyboard

NotQuiteCockney · 27/07/2006 12:48

I thought scented tampons were one of the things that caused TSS? Gah, anyway, surely a mix of blood + fanny + weird chemical flower smell (or whatever) isn't going to be any nicer than just blood + fanny?

donnie · 27/07/2006 12:49

what do they smell of? must be incredibly unhealthy to stick things with artificial odours up your bits IMO.

sweetmonkey · 27/07/2006 12:50

i think its just the casing so that gets binned after. tbh im really not sure.just thought id try them as they were on offer in boots

LieselVonTrapp · 27/07/2006 12:52

Can you get different flavours like Lavender, Magnolia, Peppermint, Lily of the Valley!!!

MrsJohnCusack · 27/07/2006 12:52

if it's just the casings - how pointless! tampons don't smell

am on a crusade against pointless artificial smells anyway - far to many of them around and they make me sneeze and itch

Caligula · 27/07/2006 12:53

Now is probably the time to do a link to mooncup

sweetmonkey · 27/07/2006 12:54

i could be wrong.maybe the tampons do smell themselves. ive not sniffed that close though

booge · 27/07/2006 12:54

Ditto, I don't get it either...gross.

oliveoil · 27/07/2006 12:57

I have seen this advert and thought it was just floral packaging (ie you can hide them in your bag) and not that they had a scent

like you would want to hide them as if ashamed or somehthing

alexsmum · 27/07/2006 12:57

well scented sanitary towels have been out for years.i rmember my mum giving me scented vespre when i first started my periods!

alexsmum · 27/07/2006 12:58

to be fair oliveoil if you are 14 or 15 , being able to disguise them is a good thing!

expatinscotland · 27/07/2006 12:59

yuk! sounds like a recipe for a very unpleasant allergic reaction.

get a mooncup!

LieselVonTrapp · 27/07/2006 12:59

Maybe theyre like those glade plug in things that smell when you plug them into the wall!!!

LieselVonTrapp · 27/07/2006 13:00

Never heard of mooncup and dont mean to be personal but has anybody used one. Does it work?

expatinscotland · 27/07/2006 13:02

Follow Caligula's link, Lisel! They're BRILL! Once you try it and get the hang of it, you'll never go back to those minging tampons.

LieselVonTrapp · 27/07/2006 13:06

Sounds gross actually. Im not that sure its not a wind up either.

Caligula · 27/07/2006 13:08

Why is it more gross than tampons?

expatinscotland · 27/07/2006 13:08

Used tampons washing up on a beach. Now THAT's gross!

I can assure you it's not a wind up.
