Yes scented tampons, not scented adverts. Does anyone else find the idea revolting? I actually shrieked in horror at the advert

I've found with my mooncup it seems like I have lighter periods, almost as if the tampon was sucking extra blood out!....mmmm nice! sorry tmi

Caligula · 27/07/2006 20:59

ggirl you probably do have lighter periods. I read somewhere (probably here) that tampons encourage more bloodflow because of their absorbency.

The chief thing I've taken out of this discussion is the word fanjo.

Would it be an acceptable term for DD (4) to use?

WideWebWitch · 27/07/2006 21:01

Caligula, I have already taught 2yo dd 'fanjo' since enid used it here, it's fab imo!

Scented tampons hey, who tf decided we needed them? I haven't read the thread but someone tell me, please, surely the TAMPONS aren't scented, the wrapper is? The world's gone bloody mad whichever.

LieselVonTrapp · 27/07/2006 22:01

Ggirl
Grossing me out I was in the middle of my dinner!!!

hunkermunker · 27/07/2006 22:18

Apparently the floral scent of these tampons is this flower

longwaytogo · 27/07/2006 22:18

my dd thinks the idea of a mooncup is revolting - can I ask if anyone else suffers with thrush when they wear a mooncup, just that i've had mine a while now and had reacurring thrush for months, stopped using it and didn't have it wore it this month - with leaks as I always have and have thrush again.

Could this be the mooncup or is it something else? I love my mooncup even with the leaks and really don't want to have to use pads. sorry slight hijack there.

laundrylover · 27/07/2006 22:28

Plastic applicators made me shout at the telly even before they put pong in them!
DD2 is 4 months now so better order a mooncup in preperation for the return to periods eh? I feel like just ordering one may bring on a period though!!!
Mind you my mate got one and now she is up the duff....mooncup timeshare an option do you think??

laundrylover · 27/07/2006 22:31

Have you given your mooncup a good boil as I have to do my breast pump for 20 mins to kill thrush! Don't boil it dry and into a mooncup sculpture as my friend did tho.

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 27/07/2006 22:56

Longwaytogo, Mooncup shouldn't carry thrush as it's non-porous. You're probably swapping it back and forth with your DP so get him some cream too, even if he hasn't noticed.
But it's still probably not a good idea to pop the Mooncup back in after sex if you're into that (although this apparently a fertility aid ), best sterilise it again (hence my switching to pads halfway through).

I reckon tampons do make period pain worse.. they kind of block everything..

They have a very amusing product on sale here in Central Asia called which says it will tighten your bits to make them seem like you a virgin!!

mytwopenceworth · 28/07/2006 08:39

on a related matter - has anyone actually come across a woman with a whiffy one? i mean did you sniff and identify it as "oh, thats her fanny" as you sit across the sofas at your coffee morning/book club/mum and toddler group/exec board meeting??

i ask cos, ahem, my mothers best mates cousins dog walkers auntys godmother is convinced hers is smelly and everyone she passes must keel over behind her.

Iklboo · 28/07/2006 08:52

What does a mooncup look like?

This thread reminds me of an agony letter I read when I was about...ooh, 13 or so. Must have been in Jackie or something. Went a bit like...

My friend told me that she changes her sanitary towel every couple of hours! I usually make mine last 2 or 3 days before I change it. She says I might make myself ill. Is she right?
PS - I don't have a boyfriend. All my friends do and it's making me sad.

EEeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 28/07/2006 21:51

Check out the links below for pics. It's like a soft see-through rubberish eggcup.
You don't leave it in all week, you empty it down the loo every 4-6 hrs and ideally run it under a tap before it goes in again. You sterilise it (dishwasher/boil on stove for 5mins) before and after each 'period' of use. Hence if it's out for a while (eg for a shag) you probably want to sterilise it or at least run it under a very hot tap (then a cold one FGS!).
