Why Zombie is Zombie - the backstory

Zombie is periodically asked what her backstory is and why she speaks in the third person. Bits of the story are scattered around various parts of the site (as are a few of her limbs). The story is fairly long and a bit complicated. She's therefore putting this thread here so she can simply refer people to it rather than trying to tell it all again.

She has found 2 posts that between them tell pretty much the whole story.

The first one is her initial reply on a Zombie appreciation thread started by slatternlymother in September 2012. The second one is the OP of a thread Zombie started in September 2013 which brings the story pretty much up to date.

Another here who has followed, although not contributed to, your threads.

There's no getting away from how crap your news is, nor can I express surprise by your plans for the future because in the words of Neil Diamond "pretty amazing grace ... is who you are". Your dignity and grace has shone throughout all this shit.

Oh love I am so so sorry to hear this. I remember when you drove all that way to pick up that young woman who was experiencing DV and waiting to go into a refuge. So kind and fearless you were! I don't know you but I feel like I do from your posts. You have given so much to so many, I am truly saddened by this. I can only hope your time here is filled with love, family and friends. ❤️💐

Zombie, I have met you more than once at MN meets and we have lots of incommon fb friends (indeed we were fb friends ourselves until things went a bit sideways for me and I closed ranks a little a short while ago)

OK. I have another update. I have an appointment at the Royal Marsden on Wednesday morning. It's still the longest of long shots but at least they're seeing me. Please keep up with the continuing story on the thread I linked in my previous post.
