How many of us actually meet Shona's little sidekicks criteria?
She states that all of us on Mumsnet are in our 30s, living in London and have a degree. How many people here meet that criteria?
How many are popping prozac depressed at the shit life we now have with kids?
Damn that woman is nasty!

'I think a load of women are totally limited by low ambitions and very low expectations probably because of their parents, school or fact their own mother did not earn much. That is such a shame' Actually Xenia, although I totally disagree with your logic on the other thread re going back to work when your baby is 2 weeks old (well, I agree with the logic behind it, but not the psychology behind it), I do agree with your thinking on this. I had to set some prices recently after a long time out of work (due to having children) and as well as my husband and someone else nagging me to up prices, you were one person who sprang to mind and I have tripled the price I had in mind.

Xenia · 14/04/2013 19:03

Excellent GG.

mrsjay, although Panama looks like a tax haven on my divorce my husband got all our money just about except a bit in the house (which is what happens when women do well at work of course - the downside as it were) so had the £1m+ debt to buy him out and he had the money so there is absolutely zilch in terms of real cash to hide anywhere, although we are "coping" and I did manage keep up 5 sets of school fees, pay for 3 through university and pay for childcare etc. and recently help one buy her first flat and one has a wedding this year so I'm lucky I can fund things like that and I suspect once I get this divorce debt repaid I might be able to save some money if I can keep generating business.

Xenia · 14/04/2013 19:06

If I am ever asked to list things that are good I always put the fact I am lucky enough just about always to be happy and never being ill (so far touch wood). That sometimes can be linked to islands by the way - moving around all day in sun light and eating real food, not junk, makes people happier and those things are quite free and the relationships with my children but people like to comment on the house or island or whatever instead. The fact I love my work so that each day is fun and I hope i can do it for 30 more years is also a big advantage.

exoticfruits · 14/04/2013 19:26

It is lovely if you can list good things. I would put health top-anything else can be fixed.
I am a winter person so moving around in the sun isn't important-being in the mountains with snow and skis is far more important than a summer holiday. Earning lots of money isn't important to me-enough to get by comfortably is fine.
I don't fit any of the criteria except the degree. I am way too old.

exoticfruits · 14/04/2013 19:28

I would hate to live in London-3 days is nice if you can then escape. I have never popped any pills and life with DCs gives lots of variety.

LackaDAISYcal · 14/04/2013 19:29

This one is a snip at $3M not that expensive, oh no Hmm

missorinoco · 14/04/2013 20:25

"So many deserving women, so few private islands."

Classic. Utterly classic. Definitely needs quote of the week.

Xenia · 14/04/2013 22:10

Yes, a good line and indeed we get the deserts we deserve and reap what we sow on the whole whether that be happiness or money of many other things. There is certainly no shortage of islands. There are quite a few islands for sale. Here is one:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2307621/Caribbean-island-sale-half-price-London-home-man-sold-life-eBay-marriage-split.html

£160k I think although just 2 acres. I think it has a house on it.

exoticfruits · 14/04/2013 22:31

However rich I was I wouldn't buy an island.

scottishmummy · 14/04/2013 23:41

When I'm able to say however rich and buy island,I will be happier than dog with 2dicks

LackaDAISYcal · 15/04/2013 00:34

Xenia. Are you for real?

MrsSham · 15/04/2013 00:41

Is that your exH selling up, Xenia Grin

lljkk · 15/04/2013 07:48

How Did Xenia turn this thread into one of her soapboxes? Confused

SomethingOnce · 15/04/2013 07:58

indeed we get the deserts we deserve

I thought you said we deserved islands Confused. Having your own private desert too is just greedy!

exoticfruits · 15/04/2013 09:04

Xenia can turn any subject into a soapbox!

Sparklingbrook · 15/04/2013 09:05

I don't want an island or a desert.

Great they printed a correction :)

Could anyone who is going to visit the page anyway, copy and paste the text here so those of us who don't want to visit the DM can see the text?

Cheers :)

ItsYoniYappy · 15/04/2013 09:27

An article about Mumsnet last week said that the site receives 25,000 posts a day and that members typically live in London. In fact it receives 35,000 and only 17 per cent of members are Londoners.

The article may also have suggested that bullying behaviour by its users could encourage suicide.

We are happy to clarify that no suicides have ever been linked to Mumsnet and that its members offer valuable support to those in distress or suffering mental illness.

DamselWithADulcimer · 15/04/2013 09:33

Its members also offer a kicking to anyone who disagrees with the majority view. Heaven help anyone who's a bit vulnerable and naively posts in AIBU.

Sparklingbrook · 15/04/2013 09:36

Confused Damsel.

SomethingOnce · 15/04/2013 09:41

Oh dear, I don't want to read the original article, but they said MN encourages suicide?! That is ridiculous, even by DM standards.
