I wonder if I am worse than the complaining American? It's sooooo noisy I have (bit impulsively) just booked a b&b in Catania for tomorrow until Friday. Wanted to be there anyway, Ortigia is lovely but there is not much of it! Am never paying in advance for a hotel again, even if it is a good price. Come si dice in Italiano 'the noise non accetabile, no I'm not paying for the room service, non mi piace yellow water, give me back my passport, arrivederla'?

am stupid ma cos'e assai? qualsiasi?

why didn't I read the bad reviews first! I just looked at how the good outnumbered the bad - at least my room isn't mouldy!

Hope yo uare still having a good time.

Alameda · 29/10/2012 20:47

Ciao, argh, was scary. Si, in Catania and quest'una belllllllissssima b&b MA met a man in piazza duomo who seemed nice but turned into a lot of octopuses. Hands here, there, everywhere. So pushy. I called him a minchia (thank you annunziata!) and ran (actually ran) away. I was scared Blush.

Oh Alameda! I hope you are okay! How scary- have you settled down? You must have got a terrible shock :( Cornuto! Have you eaten?

I am glad your new hotel is better.

Alameda · 29/10/2012 21:08

Si si ho mangiato (is that right?) I got dinner (come si dice? Caponata and rhn penne con spade? Spada? Sword fish?) and many litres of wine out of signore octopus before I ran away Grin grazie, I am stupid though, it felt dangerous but it was nice to do talking in Italian and be understood and he seemed harmless and just wanted to show me a grotto and the fresco on his ceiling. Haha!

Che beddu! C'e ancora neve a Etna?

You will always get attention, just ignore it, put your head down and walk quickly away, stay on the main streets, don't make any shortcuts. It's the worst thing about going. The things they said to DD last year- DH and her brothers were all there :(

Alameda · 29/10/2012 21:52

Your poor dd :( is not good, although as a nonna I sort of expect a little more respect! Was nice in Siracusa, 'buongiorno bella signora', that's great! This Pasqua in Rome I even got a ciao bella and this is utterly accetabile per me :) but in future I won't accept drinks or food from any more strangers. It's a pity, I have met some genuinely warm people and I expect everyone to be like that.

Neve? Non lo so, was too nuvoloso to see the top but I can see from my bedroom and it makes me tingle all over. Mi piace molto volcanoes!

Annunziata · 29/10/2012 22:00

Wow, from your bedroom?! Nice.

Ach, there are good and bad people everywhere, trust your instincts. Ciao bella is very fun Grin

Annunziata · 29/10/2012 22:12

Northern ladies, is chocolate pasta from your parts? Nigella tonight, I was [shocked] haha.

Annunziata · 29/10/2012 22:13

Boh. I need to go bed! Bonasira, sogni d'ro!

Alameda · 29/10/2012 22:13

Annunziata · 30/10/2012 08:12

Siiii, avi famighia a New Jersey, speriamo tutti va bene, it looks terrifying :(

Francagoestohollywood · 30/10/2012 11:21

Oooh poor Alameda, how scary!

Yes, shout and just look stern. Keep your valuables in the hotel's safe (Catania is quite big on scippi). ALways pretend you know where you are going.

I have to say, that I haven't received any fischio or ciao bella in aaaaaages!

Pasta al cioccolato, never seen it before.

Povera East Coast Sad, how terribly awful. The damage must be horrendous. Our very close friends are supposed to be flying into NYC on Thursday as the husband is running the marathon... oh dear.

Annunziata · 30/10/2012 14:03

Oh I hope they get to go, Franca. Oggi fa friddu e pioggia, ma nun reclamaru quannu vui guarditi the news :(

I am sure you are just being modest Grin

Alameda · 30/10/2012 20:18

DIMMI (se vuole) quello che faccio ummm perche almost ripeto (ripeterò?) ieri ma questa volta con il mio guide - not scary though, much nicer man, but saying exactly all the same things ancora una volta? I must give off an air of desperation!
