As an offshoot of the Baby Modelling thread here is the new and improved thread for all questions you may have regarding agencies, the industry or just to relate general experiences. The last thread is hereby laid to rest - it was 5 YEARS OLD! Jeez!

If you want to DEBATE or CRITICISE go to the "Child Modelling - Debate" thread.

totallyfloaty35 · 03/02/2006 10:58

Hi all,i spoke to EB,they really nice and NOT sole agency which is great, only problem is getting all the way to oxford from brighton.
How is everyone today? it must be almost time for your U/A interviews, then is everyone going to make a final decision on agencies?
i finally got agencies sorted out only to have to choose new au pair, had 27 applications already and i only been looking for less than a day,its much harder choosing someone to live with than a new agent

cyan · 03/02/2006 11:02

totally that's good news if sole agency, and even better if they are friendly!
I wish I still lived in Brighton, I miss it so much! Maybe one day I'll move back there!
We're off to shoot tomorrow and then finally we will make our decision!

trace2 · 03/02/2006 11:06

good luck with all babes going to shoots today

sh11 · 03/02/2006 11:12

izzy - yes we'll probably get there a little early, it'll be me rushing and panting up the stairs.

cyan · 03/02/2006 12:15

iz> I think we are going to sign with KL still like IK but I'm just tempted by KLs reputation. But then I don't want to rule out UA. We are at 4.10pm am now regretting that as, have a feeling c is going to be a bit knackered. HAve you entered the blooming marvellous and calpol thing yet? How you feeling, have you been putting your feet up?!
Has anyone heard from Blooming

sh11 · 03/02/2006 12:33

as soon as anyone hears from BM please let us know!

mythumbelinas · 03/02/2006 12:48

hi, alliep, pic sent to you of bhs little girl is my dd. The pic perfumelady mentioned is the front cover of it .. as seen on UA website

alliep30 · 03/02/2006 12:53

hurrah... she's lovely. I just had a quick glimpse without reading the info.. how gorgeous

totallyfloaty35 · 03/02/2006 12:56

i just got train times and prices for my trek to all the interviews,im gonna be on trains for 6 hrs each time..its costing me £50 to get to oxford and nearly that to visit MOT

alliep30 · 03/02/2006 12:57

you need a tardis... it cost me about £15 in petrol to go to childsplay. i would have to get 3 trains to go to london... my town's train station is just a bench with a shelter...there's no one there

cyan · 03/02/2006 12:59

that's loads!! when are the interviews?

i'm good thanks izzy. no work tonight!!! got a letter from childslay this morning asking for registration form..should i tell them they charge too much?

cyan · 03/02/2006 13:15

allie you make me giggle!!! i think you should! how much do they want isnt it over £200?

izzy> got nothing to lose with calpol and that way we can all look at pictures of each others LOs! well ive just used the same one that i emailed to most of you anyway, so no change! I want to see what UA are like, as they have a great rep too and dont want to rule them out before we make a final decision!!!! ds is standing and cruising at the mo, taken a cpl of little steps but gets around quicker crawling! he meausres 74cm so might be eligible for the baby section? worth a go anyway. is dd walking?

alliep30 · 03/02/2006 13:17

with the assessment fee it's a whopping £255

cyan · 03/02/2006 13:21

gosh that is a lot!!! what do you get for that? im now dubious about assessment fees as i think it's one of the things that may need to be addressed in the industry, im just interested as to whether anyone has actually ever forked out the £20/£30 for assessment and the agency have then turned around and said they arent going take the child on? just a thought x

mythumbelinas · 03/02/2006 13:26

totallyfloaty, if it's any consoliation, MOT office is lovely and it's only once.
Good luck with the au pair too!
Good luck to all with interviews, and with the calpol and BM comps enjoy your weekend!

totallyfloaty35 · 03/02/2006 13:33

hi all interviews are 14th and 20th feb,i suppose i could drive but im rubbish on moterways, tend to start sobbing if big things beep at me or go to fast.
Just wanted to say that most of the agencies..KL,U/A,B&B,Bubblegum have a lot of work for babies,so go with whoever you get on with best.I think you enjoy it more if you know your agent is nice, always happy to answer your questions and sees you as a person rather than just another annoyance she has to deal with in order to get her commision.

alliep30 · 03/02/2006 13:34

i found this on Alba Model Information about assessment fees. i rang the agency and they said it wasn't true...

NEVER - pay any fee up front to any agency for a consultation or interview to see you are suitable for modelling. Genuine agencies DO NOT charge fees up front to be interviewed or to register, this practice is now ILLEGAL.

totallyfloaty35 · 03/02/2006 13:40

Thanks myths, anyway off to work now,i have bodies to rub!Which is what my daughter once announced to a very large que in Woolies..SHE SAID "my mums job is to lie people down and rub them, they only wear their pants, then they smile and give her money"
I was mortified,in fact im sure half the people still think im some sort of hooker.Goodluck at U/A tomorrow xx

alliep30 · 03/02/2006 13:42
