As an offshoot of the Baby Modelling thread here is the new and improved thread for all questions you may have regarding agencies, the industry or just to relate general experiences. The last thread is hereby laid to rest - it was 5 YEARS OLD! Jeez!

If you want to DEBATE or CRITICISE go to the "Child Modelling - Debate" thread.

wot was it with models direct then, i read the email and contract and stuff, very strange. it said you pay £36.66 a year ?! is it a scam then or wot, or has someone on here gone with them and paid and never heard a thing

cyan · 26/01/2006 22:38

7s no plain jane isnt models direct i dont think but judging by all the feedback on here about them they are total rubbish. that fee you quoted is different to the amount others have forked out £115 or something i think

yackertyyack · 26/01/2006 22:39

Hi girls, don't worry about upsetting anyone with your chat....at least it will keep the highjackers at bay!!! I have slightly lost track of whos seeing which agency...so just wanted to wish you luck xxx let us now how you get on!!

cyan · 26/01/2006 22:41

alliep30 · 26/01/2006 22:41

hello yackerty. do you think we're evil? Go back about 3 hours worth of moaning by me and you'll find something relevant tee hee! We are all supposed to see cheeky kidz but some have taken offence to their naff website. 7's ds has a jpb for boots monday 99% sure, and cyan and izzy are going everywhere...hope that helps oh and 7's is watching a programme about shampooing dead cats

cyan · 26/01/2006 22:44

i completely forgot to tell you with horrible horrible day and dwp being twats but we aplpied to kids london the other day and got back to us today.

alliep30 · 26/01/2006 22:45

yackertyyack · 26/01/2006 23:03

no jobs this end which is just as well as my little one has such a rotton cold....and yes i do think that cheekykidz website is naf...very chessy! Don't really know much about them or inspired kids...are they new????
Has anyone tried bubblegum agency??? was speaking to a friend who has had quite alot of castings with them! Just another name to through into the hat!!!
Cyan..who have you been accepted by so far???

cyan · 26/01/2006 23:17

yackerty- we are with norrie but have been lookign around for a bit. not looking to chop and change but it was one of those ones where i didn't really think about who to go with and should probably have bided my time before going with them. alot of mums have said this on thread
bizzy, KL, alphabet, inspired, plain jane, elisabeth smith = yes
norrie= with them
UA= photoshoot
scallys last year when books were open, yes
MOT, Bruce and Brown = no

as for bubblegum they dont have web page do they?

totallyfloaty35 · 27/01/2006 00:41

Hi all,Bubblegum dont seem to have a web page but they fab for the under fives.Bruce & brown i found to be really nice, answered all my questions and even called me a few times to check how i was getting on and if id made a decision yet, which i found amazing as usually you cant get an agency to call unless someones booked you.
On the name thread i love the name Ruby, but eastenders have used it,so its ruined somewhat.Boys names really hard DH always seem to know someone with any name i chose and hated them, we did like Lysander,Gabriel, xsaviour and Indiana. Not very traditional though i know, but at least Dh never met anyone with those names

yackertyyack · 27/01/2006 09:33

Morning Cyan,
You've got a nice list to choose from.....but I totally agree that its difficult to know what to do for the best! Whether to pay out more money or to stay where you are - I am not expecting much work for my man this year as I have heard that between the ages of 1-3 works dries up because its a difficult age to work with!! Good luck at inspired models today...(and to IZZY to)...there website looks impressive!! Let us know how it goes.......

alliep30 · 27/01/2006 09:43

good luck iz and cyan.. the lady at cheesy kidz told me the same thing yackerty

yackertyyack · 27/01/2006 09:47

allie, have you signed with Alphabetkidz yet???

alliep30 · 27/01/2006 10:06

going to tackle a balancing act in the photo booth for passport pictures for licence and post registration today!! hurray!!! childsplay just too expensive compared to the others and AK looks a lot more professional and modern! what's new with u?

sh11 · 27/01/2006 10:32

just been accepted at Rascals and Childsplay, both way to expensive, Childsplay is £255 in total and Rascals too much also - cant remember exactly. It just makes me think if we dont join them they may be the ones that would have got us work?!? Is anyone else with either of these 2.

alliep30 · 27/01/2006 10:36

I did like childsplay and izzy knows someone with them. when i saw wendy and she showed me the book of their work, i didn't recall anything recent..thats what really swayed me..oh and the 230quid to go on the books! i just thought i'd give the cheaper option a go and then if that didn't work out try them.. for me AK is only £20 to join so a lot less to lose..

sh11 · 27/01/2006 10:37

We actually applied to every agency possible 2 months back and now they reply. I wish I had waited for all the replies before deciding. Main mistake was to join BK asap, first acceptance. Not that I have any experience of them (only sent in forms last week)its just that they have too many kids. Read my post on other thread on 16 dec 05 and you'll see what I mean.

alliep30 · 27/01/2006 10:47

i can't find it. i'm cr*p

yackertyyack · 27/01/2006 10:57

SH11 - it is so easy to join the first agency that accepts you as you get a bit excited with it all....you are not alone!!! I initally rang round a few companies to find out which agents they used and then applied to them - at least that way I knew they were genuine. BK have about 800 kids on their books - with about 350 babies....but saying that scallywags have about 1000 and they get alot of work - so I don't think it really matters how many kids they have on their books - it just a case of being in the right place at the right time - like life in general really!!! I am hopeing I am in the right place to win the euromillions tonight!!!!!

alliep30 · 27/01/2006 11:01

sorry yackerty. i'm going to win that! if your child is what a company is looking for, surely it doesn't matter how many the agency have on their books....

alliep30 · 27/01/2006 11:01

sorry yackerty. i'm going to win that! if your child is what a company is looking for, surely it doesn't matter how many the agency have on their books....

sh11 · 27/01/2006 11:02

yy- good luck with that at least then u'll hav the money to pay extortionate joining fees

i heard scallywags have a lot of inhouse competition for castings.

sh11 · 27/01/2006 11:12

allie - i agree to an extent, but when they are looking for blonde/blue eyes baby boy for eg then if there are 17 like that - there is obviously less chance and most babies look similar and all are lovely in their own way. Thats why its better that the top agencies wont take you on if youre v.similar to another, like bruce and brownand norrie carr told me. I did check them out and they were right - i found 4 babies on NC with roughly same birthdate as my lo - few day in both directions and 2 with same colouring!! that goes to show they did not reject him for nothing. KL do not even give a reason for rejecting, just a letter with 4 possible reasons:- too far - not
not photogenic - not
cant remember other 2

at least they could tick the one relevant so we knew why.

yackertyyack · 27/01/2006 11:14

allie, i do honestly think that whoever you are with....if your little one is the right size, sex, colouring at the time you will get work. Empire catalogue saw loads of kids the other day but really, i know we all say our own are the most beautiful, but most of the babies there could model the clothes and all look cute!!!
Allie how old is your little one???

yackertyyack · 27/01/2006 11:18

sorry sh11 our messages crossed....i suppose it all depends on the company choosing!! ANyway...I am sure loads of work will come rolling in soon!!!! regardless of which agency we are with!!!
