Spent yesterday driving around SW London and neighbouring Surrey areas as the start of our big move and was very taken with Weybridge. If anyone can give me any informations about the area (good and bad) particularly local schools, best parts to live in, good for families etc etc.

Sorry chicagomum. It was my fault I went completly off the subject. Ignore me. I hope you find what you are looking for.

ok, I understand this seems a bit overwhealming. But,I remember your thread about your relationship with your DH and MIL and really I want to help you. What are the school requirements? I know you want them to be good. Are you looking for COE? Catholic? No religeous affiliation? Any of these things? What about private education? Is that an option?

If it were me moving, I'd sort out the schools first, then see what options I had left. I would also consider in say 3 or 4 years if I wanted to go back to work what would my options be in a the new location.

You can do this, CM. From your other thread I don't think you'll be happy if you give up and continue as you are.

Hi there - does anyone have any info on which nurseries are the best in Weybridge? We are moving from London to the Oatlands area and I'd like my 2 year old to do 1/2 days. Private or state are fine - as long as they are very good. Thanks!

Weybridge and Cobham are great, but very expensive. I have lived in Cobham (with my parents) and then in Byfleet (with now dh)

Avoid Byfleet as a bit of a dump and the school is not meant to be too good, but West Byfleet is good. Has a great school too!

I am now in Knaphill in Surrey, mixed feelings about village itself (not very pretty, but safe - we park on the street and never a problem - great amenities, but fantastic nursery and a fantastic lower and junior school.

I'd be interested in any updates on living in Weybridge, also West Byfleet.
Things like the social life are important, as we can't gauge that very well until we move in. What's it like for metting other parents, coffee mornings, gym clubs etc?
Also on a recent visit it seemed the prefered location, equal distance roughly from the rail station and the town centre, was Weybridge Park which is not really our kind of place and well out of budget anyway!
Opinions good, bad, sarcastic and useless very welcome.

So here's a new 1-5 for this zombie thread

  1. Catchment area for good primary and secondary
  2. 45 minute commute to waterloo, including walk/bus to station
  3. 45 minute drive to Slough, at rush hr
  4. good social, e.g. NCT, playgroups, mum stuff etc
  5. Level off street parking for at least 2 cars, including space for maintenance e.g. jacking up and all that stuff.
