I won't pretend this thread is anything other than pure nosiness - what are your children's main Christmas presents this year? I know this will vary according to age, but I'm trying to get a feel for what will be exopected of me when dd grows up ... and how much £££ I'm going to have to save for it (gulp)

This year DD (14 months) will be having a ride-on-car and 3 cuddly fimbles as her main present.

Ds is 11 - he is getting some software to turn his Nintendo DS into a DVD player/MP3 player, about £85
Ds2 is 8 and getting an X Box (the old one)with game) about £130
Dd is 9 - she is getting a pink Nintendo DS and game, £100
Ds3 is getting a Power Ranger Megazord, about £35
Ds4 is getting a rocking horse £50

THis is an expensive year compared with last year, because they all asked for something quite big.

SpringCrimboTurkey · 05/12/2005 13:43

DD nearly 17 months is getting a play kitchen with all the accessories as her main pressie.
Then lotsof book, jigsaws etc as little extras

Kabsy · 05/12/2005 13:54

DD (2.5yrs) is having a push a long dog (£50) and elc keyboard with mic & stool from my parents(seems popular present seen it mentioned few times already) god knows what my MIL is getting her (very odd presents usually or money - lets hope for the latter) or even my FIL & his partner, it worries me when its a surprise cos will have to look pleased and grateful if naff. And also will have it hanging around for months until can skillfully bin the offending item!

teeavee · 05/12/2005 15:50

my ds is only 16 months - doesn't really know what Christmas is yet - but I've bought him a really nice book (about £10) and a ball (£2.50) and dh has got him a memory picture-card game (£1.50) - so he can have stuff to open on the day, more than anything! Don;t see the point in spending any more at this age. I'll put £50 in his savings account as well.

He has already been given a highly annoying loud talking tractor with trailer and animals + brilliant fisher price erasable sketchboard thing from MIL, and an annoying talking leappad book thing from FIL.

jac34 · 05/12/2005 16:28

ds is 61/2 he is having a PSP but its second hand, looks brand new though and its the only thing he asked for and Parents in law payed half of it too.

dd is 21/2 and is having a smoby kitchen and a leap pad. Both their stocking fillers were about 50quid each, Stockings are sooo big I think I need to down size them!

snowgirl · 05/12/2005 17:48

Thanks Welshboris, nailpolish and LIZS for suggestions. My great auntie has already gone for the wooden cube activity thing. Am therefore thinking about a trike with a handle on the back type thing for dd.

snowgirl · 05/12/2005 17:50

Although, following on from that. What can anyone tell me about Leappads and the like. I'm a bit old school (books??) so what exactly do they do and why are they good? And for what ages??

welshboris · 05/12/2005 18:36

Snowgirl, DD is 14 months and I got her a trike from Mothercare, pink with parent handle and harness, very good

Leappad is also good, had mine off Ebay, bargain. Think they are doing an offer in Woolworths at the mo. I can see her still playing with it at 3

LizP · 05/12/2005 20:18

ds1 (6) is having a small electric guitar
ds2 (4) a small drum kit
ds3 (1) lots of recycled happy street that has been in the loft - wonder how many more years I'll be able to get away with that.
And a stocking each.
Am really having to try hard not to buy lots of other bits since decided this year it was one present only.

SnowsyPosey · 05/12/2005 20:43

dd (8) is having some Doctor Who stuff (talking Tardis moneybox and sonic screwdriver)
Ds (almost 3) is having some wooden train accessories and Duplo

Both have got other bits and bobs but not TOO much. As ds's bday is the 29th, he really gets a bit overfaced by too much stuff.
