I loved this thread last time someone did it and thought it would be nice to do a Christmassy one.

I'll start ...

I'm mumsnetting doing the last of the Christmas cards (I know, I know, but better late than never!) and DP and DS are eating mince pies in front of the telly.

aw, empire. that's lovely. Imagingin a place where it already is christmas day and dratted teenagers aren't sleeeping Grin

panettoinydog · 24/12/2010 19:47

I am quite astounded. My 14 year old has actually been in high spirits and very jolly. Most unlike her. It's nice.

ChildofIsis · 24/12/2010 19:50

I'm listening to Gaudete by Steeleye Span and thinking about rounding up the presents to put under the tree and do the plate for Santa.
DD4 been asleep for an hour, DH gone out to get DD's new bike that's been stashed at a mate's house.
I got all my veggies done earlier so I can lurk on here in front of a lovely log fire, bliss.

MaureenMLove · 24/12/2010 20:16

DD is watching Hannah Montana, DH is on his computer and I am MNing/FBing, whilst I wait for my brother and his family to arrive.

ragged · 24/12/2010 20:30

After furious and noisy squabbling intense negotiations, the kids have finalised their sleeping arrangements -- downstairs, on various sofas, only feet from the tree and pressies (it was DH's idea to put them out tonite!!). So DH gets to sleep down here, too, to make sure the kids don't rip open their pressies in middle of the night.

yogabird · 24/12/2010 20:40

dh and my parents are doing a jigsaw puzzle of the Taj Mahal?!!!!!
I am lurking here since I'd rather gauge out my eyes than pass time doing jigsaws. Dd's in bed. All well with the world!

My Dad and DS are playing with toy cars together which is lovely. My mum is washing up. DP is outside for a smoke and Dsis has disappeared! (A sneaky smoke perhaps?!)

I'm mumsnetting looking for a DVD.

Im sitting in my slinky nighty half mn'ing from my iPhone and half watching bbc2. Dp is reading the tv times and drinking a lager and the dog is curled between us. Dd's are all sound asleep upstairs.

ethelina · 24/12/2010 21:18

Just finished putting Boy's present together. Now lounging on sofa with a bottle of beer and After Eights getting slowly drunk.

AmandaCooper · 24/12/2010 21:29

DH is drinking wine in the lounge with his friends. I am sitting in the bedroom with a pack of dye on my hair, waiting to drive us both over to my mother's when his friends move on to the pub.

fannybaws · 24/12/2010 21:51

All Dss fast asleep, DP flying a helicopter he bought himself round the living room.
I am drinking tea eating far too many aaretti biscuits watching QI.
Merry Christmas everyone. Smile

fannybaws · 24/12/2010 21:51

GandalfyCarawak · 24/12/2010 21:56

I am mumsnetting as DH watches something scary on telly. I can't bear it.

goingforit · 24/12/2010 22:04

Miserable - It's been 6 weeks since Mum passed away and the world seems empty and lonely.

The man of my dreams has forced himself to say have a lovely day, and being that he said he would support me and look after me,somehow I expected a little more than 'Have a lovely day.'

I have no transport and there is no public transport so I am marooned in. Not one friend has said Happy Christmas, and my sister hasnt even sent a card - and I have gone out of my way to make such an effort this year.

Oh and putting ipod on random play, it chooses to play the tune from mum's funeral. I think I will go to bed

lal123 · 24/12/2010 22:13

THe kids presents are out - Santa's mince pie has been eaten by MIL (his milk is still there), I'm on my second bottle of wine and HIGNFY is on the telly. I'm in kitchen having a cigarette and considering opening some Christmas cheese to have on a biscuit

LoopyLoopsOfSparklyFairyLights · 24/12/2010 22:16

All 90 home made presents finally finished.
Presents all wrapped.
Caole concert attended.
Family arrived (sis made it! :) )
Child in bed.
Raclette about to be eaten.

Have a lovely Christmas everyone!

AmandaCooper · 25/12/2010 08:08

Goingforit a very merry Christmas to you. So very sorry to hear the terrible news about your mum and that your DP and sister haven't really been there for you. Do you want to talk about it?

How are you spending Christmas day? Let us know how you are doing x

goingforit · 25/12/2010 08:37

Thank you all

RL friends have avoided me because Mum was the hub of the community and no one knows what to say, I don't think.

DP isnt really that. It's a fairly new relationship that I thought held promise, but I'm not entirely sure.

I will be fine. I have a 16 year old son who is the most unmaterialistic teenager - has asked for nothing this Christmas. He has a few parcels to open and I am attempting a full Christmas Dinner for us both.

We are both musicians. Off to play carols for local church.

Determined to make the most of the day and although it's a tough Christmas, New Year lurks and an opportunity for new beginnings.

Wishing you all a very happy day with your loved ones, xx

AmandaCooper · 25/12/2010 09:26

It's always the case that people don't know what to say, think they're the wrong person to talk to you about it or worry they'll remind you if they mention it. There's a forum on MN for people who have been bereaved as you will probably know, and that is a common experience. It doesn't mean that people don't care. I'm sure they do.

Your DS sounds lovely. I'm glad you two have got plans for the day doing something you both enjoy and that will keep you busy. Good luck with dinner!
