I have 3 that sit in my mind.

The first is "Running Up That Hill" by Kate Bush. It reminds me of when I lived in a flat in Birmingham and had lots of different men on the go (those were the days!!) and all I had to worry about was what drink I was going to have in the pub.

The next is "Dancing on the Floor", by Third World as it reminds me of a bloke I had an exciting and illicit fling with, as he played it in his car a lot

And the third is "Black Night" by Deep Purple, as it reminds me of when I was a student. Enough said really!!!!!

Rio by Duran Duran. Remember listening to it in my best pal's bedroom. Must have been about 15 or 16 at the time. Oh those were the days - boys, boys, boys. And black eyeliner, and leg warmers.

'Peace in the Valley'. Reminds me of when I lived in Wales.... not just because I lived in the Valleys, but that we used to dance to it. Haven't heard it for years.

'For my babies' - the first dance at my wedding. Why did we choose that? No idea, but we went on to have 4!

moozoboozo · 23/09/2005 01:16

Do you remember the awful video for Duran Duran, with Simon Le Bon on a boat?

OP posts:
myturn · 23/09/2005 01:20

Oooh yes - Simon had a white and blue nautical stripey shirt on! My pal loved John Taylor. I was more into Wham. I professed to love Andrew Ridgely, only because everyone else like George so I wanted to be different. But really I fancied the pants off George.

moozoboozo · 23/09/2005 01:23

Andrew Ridgely has an egg head now.

How could people not realise George Micheal was gay? I mean, he sang about Doris Day, for Pete's sake!!!!!!

Lol!! Well I didn't. Somewhere deep, deep down I still believe just he hasn't met the right woman - me obviously!

moozoboozo · 23/09/2005 01:34

Lol!!!!!

I've got a bit of a thing for Morrisey. Such a tortured soul. I could cheer him up, with his big hair.

Oh he was just SOOOOO depressing!!! Have to say I wasn't into him. Was quite depressed enough as a teen thankyou very much (locked myself in my bedroom for about 2 yrs cos no-one loved me.... or so I told everyone). Loved Nik Kershaw, Nick Hayward, Terence Trent Darby, Michael Jackson, Howard Jones....

I am really into music and most songs from the 80's remind me of something.

myturn · 23/09/2005 02:02

The 80s were fab.

moozoboozo · 23/09/2005 02:11

They were fab. 90s music was shit. It was all formulaic dance, and manufactured boybands, who all looked like they poohed toothpaste, they were so clean cut.

OP posts:
myturn · 23/09/2005 02:16

Agree entirely about the 90's. What worries me though, is that I am starting to tell my girls that the music they listen to is 'just a noise'. Sounds horribly like my own parents.... am on a downward spiral to middle age!

myturn · 23/09/2005 02:16

And middle age spread

moozoboozo · 23/09/2005 02:24

Next thing you know, you'l be saying stuff like "you can't go out wearing that" and "What time do you call this?"

OP posts:
myturn · 23/09/2005 02:30

Lol, yep, am there already! Have warned dd1 about walking around village aimlessly with her friend (i.e. in the persuit of boys). She must go DIRECTLY to friends house etc etc. It's very hard having a 12yo going on 18!

Bouj · 23/09/2005 04:19

Early Oasis reminds me of the time when I was young, during the early days of my relationship with dh. Get all melancholy when I hear it now... Dido White Flag makes me think of my battle with PND before I knew what was wrong. NOt the whole song obviously, but the chorus was an ode to my son.

moozoboozo · 23/09/2005 13:06

Ooh, Ive got another. "Wild Love" by Frank Zappa reminds me of the time I had an affair with a college lecturer. All very exciting at the time, but I do cringe when I think of it. He was 23 years oler than me, he had a crappy wee ponytail, and he used to read French poetry to me (wgich was completely lost on me, as the only thing I can say in French is "chatte" which means c*nt)

flamebat · 23/09/2005 13:29
