I have 3 that sit in my mind.

The first is "Running Up That Hill" by Kate Bush. It reminds me of when I lived in a flat in Birmingham and had lots of different men on the go (those were the days!!) and all I had to worry about was what drink I was going to have in the pub.

The next is "Dancing on the Floor", by Third World as it reminds me of a bloke I had an exciting and illicit fling with, as he played it in his car a lot

And the third is "Black Night" by Deep Purple, as it reminds me of when I was a student. Enough said really!!!!!

God yes! Add intense boyfriend from NI,too much of my friend Cive's vile homebrew,a cold Scottish winter and no wonder I'm the wreck I am!

The Cure, Pictures of You which I used to listen to over and over after breaking up with my first really important bf (you know..that boyfriend - everyone has one)

If only I'd thought of the right words
I could have held on to your heart
If only I'd thought of the right words
I wouldn't be breaking apart
All my pictures of you

In fact, anything off their Disintegration album - boy, did I wallow

Champagne Supernova-another intense "Young love" full of debauchery and lots of other naughty things-Mid twenties-no worries-on the piss half of the week and recovering for the rest of it!

Heady days!!

So many but A couple of kooks by David Bowie. about him becoming a father. I listened to it when dd was newborn and cried for about 3 days!

Anything by The Jam reminds me of being a teenager

Anything by Oasis reminds me of being wild in my 20's. Champagne supernova reminds me of standing at a concert in main road having smoked something very strong and thinking my head was going to explode.

Lucy5-I'm with you girl! Can I come to Spain for a holiday? I feel I know you SO well!

moondog · 23/09/2005 13:59

That's a pivotal moment isn't it?The new mum song?
Mine was (is) 'Old Man's Shoes' from Elton John's 'Tumbleweed Connection'.
Emotions heightened by my sister quoting the Wordsworth poem about babies arriving as if from another world 'trailing clouds of glory' and too much Champagne.

God,I'm setting myself off again!

Dido - Resting Here w/Me. Reminds me of the year before I left the US for good. Sometimes I still can't listen to that album.

moondog · 23/09/2005 14:02

Have really enjoyed reading through this thread!

For me:

Tiffany - I think we're alone now (reminds me of dancing in front of the mirror with way too much make up on, singing into brush and pretending I had massive audience, must have been about 12) Madonna - Get into the Groove, Debbie Gibson - Shake your Love, Sinita (cringes) - so macho (do you all remember that) and even Samantha Fox's - Do you wanna please me? OH MY GOSH

Secondary School Days has got to be - Mantronix, Got to have your love, Dee-Lite - Groove is in the heart, Various Bobby Brown, Betty Boo, Bel Biv De Voe, Pump up the Jam....bring back memories of the walk through the park to school.

College - Hmmm...this is where I had my weird phase..think a bit of Jimmy Hendrix here. Can't remember.

20's - Toni Toni Tone - Lay your head on my pillow driving to the beach very, very relaxed!

Sorry, think i should write a book on this subject.

Can you feel it The Jacksons

Aged 14,roaring down the runway on a jumbo from Changi airport in Singapore on the final leg of the journey home to see our parents in PNG after 6 months apart (we were in boarding school).

Sun was rising and the song was pounding in my ears on the headphones.
Still makes me feel deliriously happy

Rowlers · 23/09/2005 14:08

Careless Whisper - reminds me of a hot summer when I was a teenager and just starting to get interested in boys. Don't know why it is such a strong memory!
The Waterboys - Whole of the Moon. I used to listen to this when I was working as an "animatrice" in France when I was 17. I was also reading Titus Groan so always link it to that. Powerful memory again!
A really obscure old hippy band "the James Gang" - can't remember the name of the particular track but it reminds me of my fist love.
