Tea room the 5th - welcome to the yurt

Welcome to the tea room. A warm welcome to everyone, whether you have one child, none, or ten. This is a tea-and-muffin or booze-and-sofasorcanapees sanctuary for all. But certain standards of behaviour continue to apply - anyone engaging in fisticuffs will be ejected by George Clooney, ably assisted by Mellors the Gardener.

You have found us- did you like teh slide/ bridge over teh HaHa. Teh priest hole is still available, its just over there.

Mellors and I have erected the yurt, strewn rugs around and good a good fire going in the wood burner. The place is feeling toasty and warm with not a draft to be felt. The kettle is now singing away on the hob. selection of teas for all taste on the shelf along with the hand made by potters mugs. Mellors very ably fitted teh yurt window with a window sill onto which can be placed a selection of pot plants and george.

Can someone sort out RP ( who I think came over with the sofa) and plump up the hay pile for donk.

A Previous incarnation of Tea room may be found here

Little rat bag NMBs!

mistlethrush · 05/03/2009 12:29

Do you think a bison in a teashop is as dangerous or more dangerous than a bull in a china shop?

Soup and a lewd roll anyone? Minestrone today.

Daisy - just very loud and annoying in that small-boy way - we do sometimes try to impose a 'no sound effects' rule (eg at mealtimes - otherwise it gets really messy) but it seems to have increased again. The worst time is when you are trying to get him to concentrate on something (eg a jigsaw or writing) and he is so busy making silly sound effects that he's not got enough concentration left to do whatever you're helping him with...

[smug] that ds chose to go in as Christopher Robin today (his own suggestion which I think is rather good at not yet 4) when everyone else is largely going in in shop-bought disney character-type outfits (with the occasional pirate thrown in for good measure). So all I had to do today was to dig out his red checked shirt, some shorts, and make sure one sock was pulled up and the other down....

thumbwitch · 05/03/2009 13:46

nuthin strange here, nope, not me, no sirree.

wouldn't a bison be more relaxed in a china shop? they always seem to be a bit more chilled than bulls.

thumbwitch · 05/03/2009 13:48

btw, I have carpet - the nice man managed to glue a bit on where it was short and you can barely tell at all - it was just in the doorway but I doubt it will show for a few years, so am not quite so bothered now.

And it is nice to have new carpet - DS keep standing in the middle of the room and looking all around, fascinated by the emptiness!

daisy99divine · 05/03/2009 14:03

Well done man with glue!

Well done Christopher Robin!

DaisyBoy's nursery made no concession for World Book Day at all but he came home with a satisfying number of paintings from his weeks efforts! He is most pleased with himself

Thanks for the Soup Mistle

If that snoring noise is anything to go by, then Bison are A LOT more relaxed than buffalo.... puts me in mind of that "Brimingham" joke

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 05/03/2009 14:24

Has anyone else noticed that, since he came over all First Nation, Mellors has become positively loquacious? He's quite the chatterbox these days.

racingpiglovestwiglets · 05/03/2009 14:43

I'm not a little girl you know. I've been telling you ....

egg sandwich sacrfed. Thanks No So NMBs for eggs and Amber for the idea. Boy sleeping hurrah. done a little bot of work, now rewarding my self with virtual lunch and so on in teh tea room.

MUST go to library today- esp as its book day and I need to ask for some WBD book tokens. Pre pre school groups are not eligible for the tokens direct from WBD. Only book character boy likes "dressing up as" is Max from where the wild things are. if boy has a hoodie on he pulls up teh hood and says " in my wolf suit now" and proceeds to " make mischief" mostly by hitting me . SO we shall be going into town once boy awakes.

I spent the morning in a first aid class- V interesting, CPR has changed since I last did a course.
CAt- I took a look at profile , but no poncho ? it it wonder off?I'm going to check if the cafe provide blankets etc, but if they don;t I think I have a stripey blanket/rug I could sacrifice. thanks to this lot www.kon-tiki.co.uk/ for inspiration.

Unis I think I forgot to change my profile pic but have done so now. It was tucked away in the my photos bit. Sorry.

Am overwhelmed by the pig-on-pig action in the tearoom, its all too much after Mellors having been in to say hello. I'm not sure that the NMBs should have been witnessing such scenes

I've brought some carrots for Donk and a bucket of tea. I also thought that a relaxing hoof massage with peppermint oil might help with the general stress of supply teaching (my mum did it too)and worrying about her Dad.

Tortilla chips any one to accompany the fried eggs and minestrone soup?

thumbwitch · 05/03/2009 15:14

am - can't see Catita's pics at all...

Catitainahatita · 05/03/2009 15:22

Oh bugger will go back and check what is happening here.

Catitainahatita · 05/03/2009 15:26

I hate technology sometimes. I have restricted access to photos as I am wary of who exactly might be out there and had you down in the "mates" bit as "thumbwith" aagh.

I have changed it now, and you should be allowed to see. Sorry

Racingsnake · 05/03/2009 15:32

I think 'eccentric' is putting it mildly for most of us in here!

Catitainahatita · 05/03/2009 15:34

Happily unhinged, I think

thumbwitch · 05/03/2009 15:35

Ta Catita! Can see it now - great poncho, even if a little on the drab side.
I have in my nickname history "thumbwicth" - typos are all too easy, aren't they!

daisy99divine · 05/03/2009 15:35

That is an awesome photo Catita! But I don't think you need to worry about being recognised too much!
I know what you mean though, hence I only put my photos up for a few days!

Did it make your Mum laugh by the way? Round about the time I gave birth everything made my mum cry (my baby is growing up etc etc) but then I managed to pop DaisyBoy out very suddenly a month early with no warning (not for me, far less for her!) and she got a mit miffed! I think she was enjoying the impending doom!!!!

Tea anyone?

Catitainahatita · 05/03/2009 15:41

Daisy, it did give my mum a chuckle. But in those days she felt so rotten that it only helped momentarily. Ditto the arrival of DS; but she told me later (when a bit better) that seeing her dgs in rl was a big motivation to getting better and not killing herself (she was v suicidal; tried it a number of times, but failed, thank goodness)

Oh yes, cuppa please, I have a pile of marking to be getting on with this morning and I need the caffeine.

daisy99divine · 05/03/2009 16:32

oh Crikey Catita that must have been a strain for you all, I am glad she is better now

Mind you with Mellors around, that could be any day couldn't it?

daisy99divine · 05/03/2009 16:34

I was just thinking how at home I felt here

Mind you pig-on-pig action before the sun is over the yard arm might be pushing it a bit!!

How are they doing by the way? I think I might stay sitting on this nice bentwood rocker for a little while longer!

Catitainahatita · 05/03/2009 17:01
Jacksmama · 05/03/2009 17:01

Isn't it nice to find somewhere where you can be weird strange eccentric unhinged yourself and feel completely at home?

amber32002 · 05/03/2009 17:04

Indeed so

Catitainahatita · 05/03/2009 17:29

Hiya Amber are you feeling a bit less got at today?

amber32002 · 05/03/2009 17:33

Catita, I'm not sure I was feeling got-at. Difficult to describe. Just feeling that I wasn't able to make sense of what was being said, and couldn't cope that well. But yes, feeling more capable today, thanks

Need a decent bit of supper, though. Might try one of my chicken surprises...anyone want to join us?
