A warm welcome to everyone, whether you have one child, none, or ten. This is a tea-and-muffin or booze-and-sofasorcanapees sanctuary for all. But certain standards of behaviour continue to apply - anyone engaging in fisticuffs will be ejected by George Clooney, ably assisted by Mellors the Gardener.

Cheers all!

Rs- might it have been the news quiz or the Now Show? I'll try and remember to listen again at some point. I was working when it was on at lunch time, hadn;t thought to take a radio with me.

Boy had enormo nap , been wan and porrly mush of teh day. Perked up after some yazoo banana milk tho... HUrrah. We finally got him to drink more than a thimblefull of something. then had soup and brad for tea, went to bed seemingly normal. sots are clearing up too. Hurrah. Dh thinks boy might be OK for nursery on monday maybe becasue I've twisted his arm to take day off and look after sick child?

Thank you for teh muffins and tea and carrots and champange. Sure its all helping.
Next week is looking busy in RL, so I may not be around as much. As before, leave a trail of crumbs if you move teh tea room won;t you.

ThumbLoveWitch · 14/02/2009 20:19

ooh, thanks for the fizz - I should be having some here but DH's abstention prevents me - gone are the days when I could finish a whole bottle by myself at one sitting!

DS is still snuffly - we missed our last babyswimming class today cos he just wasn't well enough. I am hoping that he is getting better because I am fed up of having him in my bed from 1am onwards!

Hope everyone else is feeling better...

Donk · 14/02/2009 20:37

There's the sound of hooves on the driveway, and in canters Donk, being chased by Mellors!
I hide behind UniS and offer everyone carrots, and (unusually) some red wine, before Mellors manages to get behind me with the broom and start pushing me out the door to the stables where he thinks I belong!
(nobody has ever tried to confine me to the stables before!)

UniS · 14/02/2009 21:05

donK- WHAT EVER HAVE YOU AND MELLORS BEEN UP TO IN THE STABLES!!! you both have straw behind the ears and are looking rather ruffled.
ON 2nd thoughts- don't tell us, we can imagine far worse.

Racingsnake · 14/02/2009 21:19

Thank you, it was the News Quiz. Good idea but too humane for bankers.

Donk, they are very nice stables ....

Speaking of which, I haven't heard of anyone exercising Earl Grey and Lady Grey recently. I suppose they may not have liked the snow.

ThumbLoveWitch · 14/02/2009 22:34

RS - if it's not too intrusive to ask, how is RacingRabbit today?

Seems like the bankers aren't the only ones being greedy bastards - the FSA plan to pay themselves whopping bonuses as well, cos of course they've done such a good job this past year as well

Racingsnake · 15/02/2009 08:20

RacingRabbit is no longer. Not sure how to explain this to a 2-year old who keeps saying "Mummy find labbit". Didn't show her dead rabbit as don't want to worry her about Papa - she had contected poorly rabbit and poorly Papa.

Extra twiglets for poor lonely RacingPig, I think.

What is going on a the moment????

WS sick in the night with temperature, so spent night on sofa with tea-room TV. I watched Roger McGough remembering The Scaffold - now there's a National Treasure! Pity Bocca's not about at the moment; we could do with an uplifting sort of thread. I just can't think of one atm.

This winter is feeling rather like something you read about out back in the olden days, when winters were long and dark and cold, and lasted for ever, and food ran out, and the old and the weak died off ... You can see why they used to be so grateful to survive to see the spring!

Anyway time to go and seek out Mellors and put an end to all this cavorting in stables and book reading. He can go and do some digging in the potager, muck out the horses and start to dig out the tea room garden tables and chairs. I'm sure they'll need a coat of paint before spring.

ThumbLoveWitch · 15/02/2009 13:11

aw, racingsnake - for you all, especially WS. Will you be getting another one for her? I don't know how you deal with it, except by telling her that rabbit was very very very old, much older than anyone else she knows, and had to go on a long journey to a place where he/she could rest. Not like papa at all, who will get better soon.

DS still has a cold - I thought he was getting better but apparently not - still bunged up to the eyeballs this morning .

I have even lit the fire already today - because our downstairs central heating is having an outright refusal and it is like an arctic waste down here

Racingsnake · 15/02/2009 14:16

Although RacingRabbit was under one! However, I should think she can't remember time without him. Yes, we'll get another something to keep RP company. And for me WS to play with.

Sorry for your DS - these colds just go on and on this year.

Good news chez Chateau Racing on fire front - DH was seen cutting wood this morning! For the last couple of months I have been doing all that, in an effort to fill up some of my endless spare time. I love doing it, but it is so encouraging to see him doing things!

Please anyone with any ideas come and find my 'tell me what car I should buy' thread, becuase a new-to-us car is a very rare thing in the Racing hosuehold.

Donk · 15/02/2009 16:33

They may be nice stables RS, but the conversation is much better in the tea room.

Besides, I object to being told where I have to go and shooed with a broom!

Donk · 15/02/2009 16:36

BTW sorry to hear about RR. Will RP link the disappearance of RR with your DH's illness? - in which case might it still be worth letting her see RR's body, and reassuring her as much as possible about your DH? Important 'others' disappearing being quite as worrying as dying IME

UniS · 15/02/2009 17:11

Sring like herein Devon. daisys on teh grass, washing on teh line, clear out of workshop undertaken. We all 3 went for a ride/ run/ sit in jogger this morning, up at some woods that were new to us. Myself and friend who were riding were exploring some of the single track while DH ran on the fire roads pushing boy in his chariot. Although they did "appear" in the middle of one single track section. Boy had spotted us down the hill and asked daddy to take him down there! so they did just that.
Chariot has now been cleaned as it looked like had been dragged through a swamp. The ground was sodden in many places. Car has been cleaned as well. In fact its been a right good spring clean day.
Now, if I peer though teh tea room window ( between the peace lilly and george) I can just make out Mellors hurling things out of teh shed, maybe hes also spring cleaning. Or maybe hes trying to find his topiary magazines.

Racingsnake · 15/02/2009 17:28

About time Mellors did some spring cleaning!

Lovely to hear about spring in Devon. It was almost spring here in Dorset. Lovely time outside in the garden today, at least for grown ups. WS not at all sure about this big, light, empty place with no DVD's. A couple of weeks insides

TrulyMadBadandDeeply · 15/02/2009 18:09

So sorry to hear about Racingrabbit. Are you going to do a ceremonial burial in the garden? We did with the goldfish, although by the time of the final funeral MadBadBaby had lost interest and didn't even bother to attend.

Right, off to use up my last remaining idea for an uplifting thread and to look for Racingsnake's car thread ...

TrulyMadBadandDeeply · 15/02/2009 18:45

This is my attempt at an uplifting thread. At least, it will be just as long as no militant mother of more than one turns up to shout "have another baby"!

Anyone ready yet for a little snifter?

ThumbLoveWitch · 15/02/2009 18:54

oh i am - bstrd CH is off again! plumber here now trying to get it going. real fire going well-ish but the wood was on the damp side, so not blazing beautifully. DS asleep on one arm, hence short typing.

TrulyMadBadandDeeply · 15/02/2009 19:20
ThumbLoveWitch · 15/02/2009 19:38

ooh, thanks.

I'm soo cooooold (whine, moan)

UniS · 15/02/2009 19:44

RS- which end of Dorset are you? The devon end or the hants end or the wilts end?

DOn;t worry - I'm not going to come stalking you, just curious. I'm far too busy at teh mo to come stalking any body. Working mon, wed daytime, thurday eve and all day sunday next week. Boys birthday party on saturday, so need to go shopping for that at some point as we are doing light lunch for 25.

Chicken pox appears to have passed, thankfully. think he can go to nursery again tomorrow, but off to check nursery polices on that one.

Racingsnake · 15/02/2009 19:53

Probably a bit more Wilts end (North Dorset)

Racingsnake · 15/02/2009 19:56

Champagne not so good for being cold. We want something warming.

Also uplifting. Off to RL for the evening as things have just got EVEN WORSE. Do not understand what is happening at the moment - could the Racing Household and the UK in general have annoyed a passingbad fairy? A la person who pricked her finger. ARe we cursed??

UniS · 15/02/2009 19:57

ar, not a bit I know. Spent a chuck of my late teens doing short term jobs in purbeck area.

DO you think Mellors should have finished in the shed by now? maybe he is building something? Any guesses as to what?

UniS · 15/02/2009 19:58

Oh, think you may be cursed. try turning round 3 times and throwing salt over your left shoulder.

TrulyMadBadandDeeply · 15/02/2009 20:05

Ok, we're now offering a choice of

mulled wine
hot toddies
tomato soup
plain, wholesome crackers
hot water bottles
cashmere blankets
fluffy down pillows
soothing forehead rubs

Donk · 15/02/2009 20:07

Ooh, I'll have mulled wind please

Carrots anyone?
