Episode 34 - The Tearoom moves to New England

beanandspud · 22/09/2012 23:25

At this time of year New England is famous for its glorious foliage as billions of leaves change from green to a kaleidoscope of colours. The air is crisp and cool ? perfect for hiking, biking or a drive along back roads, where farm stands are piled high with crunchy apples and orange pumpkins.

Everyone is welcome. There are tea, cakes and wine aplenty so pull up a comfortable chair and join us.

The usual rule applies - no fisticuffs please!

UniS · 23/10/2012 22:39

Scout19075 · 23/10/2012 22:40

UniS · 23/10/2012 22:47

They are on special at Sainsburys... 29p a pack. I bought a couple of packs, thought of you as i did so. I think boy will love them , might keep a bag for his stocking.

Scout19075 · 23/10/2012 22:53

UniS · 23/10/2012 22:59

no, right by the checkout along with twixs and similar item of desire. Of course this could just be a nearby city thing... PB cups come up on the online shop at 59p a pack, but in store were reduced to 30p ish.

Scout19075 · 23/10/2012 23:02

Hello!

No need to keep up, just jump in!

Scout19075 · 24/10/2012 21:53

Chocolate trains seem to be a hit with Toddler's friends. Nom nom nom.

Scout19075 · 25/10/2012 09:10

Can anyone offer insight as to why Toddler has taken to waking in the night and staying awake anywhere from one to four hours, the average being two to three? Today started around 4:30/4:45. He would not/could not go back to sleep. He's been melting regularly since. We have swimming today and a soft play play date immediately after with his BFF to celebrate his birthday (since we're not having a party and the soft play is in the same building as the pool we're going straight up for lunch and a bit of a climb).

beanandspud · 25/10/2012 11:06

Could he be cold Scout? It seems that the temperature at night has really dropped in the last few days and I have started putting a fleece over Small Bean when I go up to bed.

When is his birthday?

Scout19075 · 25/10/2012 14:31

I thought that but he goes to bed in fleecy footie PJs plus has a sheet (flannelette), cellular blanket and a duvet. His body's quite warm when I undo him for his nappy. I wondered if he's on the verge of a developmental leap. He seems to have grown, and has gone up a shoe size since this started, and he's suddenly having more adult-like sentence structure.

His birthday is on Sunday. I'm going to make a 3D steam train cake complete with sparkle/flare candle in the funnel. His BFF just gave him a paint your own steam train and a train sticker book. When he opened the paint kit he started telling his BFF all of the parts of the train. Looking at the stickers on the way home he shouted "Bluebell, Mommy, Bluebell engine!"

Good afternoon, everyone. There's a steaming jug of hot chocolate on top of the stove and a plate of cinnamon pastries. Baby, it's cold outside!

Yes it is, and windy, and raining sideways. Brrrr. DH and I are in Seattle, all by ourselves - JB staying with lovely MIL all weekend. We're a bit but enjoying ourselves nonetheless. Going to a football game tonight. Our seats are slightly protected by the overhang but not massively so, so I'm really hoping that this sideways rain business stops by 7:15 pm PST.

Scout19075 · 27/10/2012 16:34

We had snow up our way today.

MaudTheGardenTheBlackBatNight · 27/10/2012 16:49

Oooh, I've always wanted to go to Seattle.

That's a PITA about the feud, Scout, but possibly for the best as your SiL/BiL seem so adept at creating atmospheres.

We will be up your way-ish next weekend so I do hope we don't get snowed in as I wouldn't want to be in a confined space with my SiL for very long either.

Scout19075 · 27/10/2012 20:18

I'd like to go to Seattle. The closest I've been has been to northern Idaho.

beanandspud · 27/10/2012 22:40

Oh yes to Tea Room meeting in Seattle!

Sending you all Wine and room service from a generic hotel in the midlands. Went to the theatre with Small Bean this evening which he thoroughly enjoyed and he is now crashed out as DH and I watch tv quietly Grin.

Off work for a fortnight and heading for some sun next week. We had snow last night too brrrrrrrrrr.

Thanks, Bean. Grin

Not knowing if my PiL changed the clock in their lounge before they went to bed SmallBoyScout (SB/SBS) is up stupidly early. He ended up in our bed overnight and it roasted me out and into his bed on the floor. I somehow slept through him getting up and leaving the room and woke up to him banging the little wooden trike up the stairs. He had left the room, come downstairs and turned the light on to play. If they did change the clocks it was 5:30 when I returned the trike. If they didn't it's 4:30 Either way, GAH!

Yesterday he kept saying "birthday tomorrow" or "birthday Sunday" but when I told him this morning it was his birthday he said "No, no, no, fireworks before lunch!" (He had a flare candle in his cake.)

I have to take MrScout to Heathrow this morning and am just sooooo tired I want to curl up and sleep instead.
