Episode 34 - The Tearoom moves to New England

beanandspud · 22/09/2012 23:25

At this time of year New England is famous for its glorious foliage as billions of leaves change from green to a kaleidoscope of colours. The air is crisp and cool ? perfect for hiking, biking or a drive along back roads, where farm stands are piled high with crunchy apples and orange pumpkins.

Everyone is welcome. There are tea, cakes and wine aplenty so pull up a comfortable chair and join us.

The usual rule applies - no fisticuffs please!

Victoria sponge would be great please UniS.

oxeye · 16/10/2012 12:01

oooh sponge and coffee for me
no help with vacuum I'm afraid - I am proper Allergick

CMOTDibbler · 16/10/2012 12:18

Goodnes UniS, don't get carried away !

Oxeye, acupuncture is great, but its sooo expensive to do regularly, as well as the time to go and have it done.

Yesterday we went to pony club for the first time (run at the stables, new set up) - ds and 10 little girls who he bossed around in spite of the fact they were 10 years older. It was fun, and dpony enjoyed being fussed by them while they were doing their grooming badge practice

oxeye · 16/10/2012 13:22

gosh, CMOT I know, the price is high isn't it! Glad pony fun was fun

Thumb - just caught up! CONGRATULATIONS that is great news Grin

UniS · 16/10/2012 15:06

I had a very understated birthday yesterday - although as I'd said I would like something (rather expensive) for art, DH got it as a birthday present - and we had a takeaway for supper (first one in about 3 or 4 months!)

CMOTDibbler · 17/10/2012 09:56

Ooh, happy birthday for yesterday MT Thanks and Brew for you too

mistlethrush · 17/10/2012 10:42

Its a nice time of year for birthdays I've always thought - brightens up a gap between the summer and Christmas....

beanandspud · 17/10/2012 11:15

Thanks, Brew and birthday Wine for you too MT. Sounds like you had a lovely day.

Just wanted to pop in and tell you about our afternoon at A&E yesterday Hmm. DS ended up with three stitches in the back of his head. He went running to the loo right before skating lessons, slipped, fell over backwards and hit his head. Cue buckets of blood as per usual scalp wound behaviour. Poor DH (I was at work) came over all otherwise and had to sit down at the sight of so much blood. Fabulous First Aid Person got the bleeding stopped and a fetching bandage in place, complete with pirate skull sticker :o

DH phoned me at work and because he still sounded all otherwise I left work and met them at our local A&E. Wait times are reputed to be horrendous usually so I was happy that we got in and out in three hours. Everyone was very nice. No hair needed to be shaved and because DS takes after me in the hair department (lots of it) you can't even see the stitches. He refused to take a shower to rinse the rest of the blood out of his hair so he has two small spikes that are an interesting shade of maroon now, but really barely noticeable unless you know what you're looking at it.

Well, that was exciting. DH and I were like deflated balloons when we came home. Completely exhausted even though it really wasn't a big deal at all. DS, of course, is his usual self - you'd never know it had happened.

I would love some Wine but have to go into work for a few hours today, so will make do with some Brew. Anyone else?

UniS · 17/10/2012 19:48

Brew for you jm, hot and sweet. hope it helps you get over yesterday.

QueenofLouisiana · 17/10/2012 20:26

Belated happy birthdays CMOT and MT. Just finished parents' evening, another one tomorrow. Wine anyone? Mine's a light Pinot grigio tonight.

mistlethrush · 17/10/2012 20:37

That sounds nasty JM! I hope all heals well.

I was really cross with DH when we ended up in A&E with mc when he was only 9months - we were getting ready to go out for a walk, so DS was 'starfished' on the hall floor, having been zipped into his winter suit - dog was sitting on the stairs behind us, full of anticipation - DH sees a cat in the front garden, opens the front door and encourages the dog who races down the stairs and over mc.... She caught his scalp with a claw in passing - very luckily its just within the hairline - but it was a very close run thing. Luckily we have a minor injuries unit and they have a separate 'queue' etc for children and we were seen very quickly - they washed it out some more but said they couldn't stick it as they would do normally as it had been done by a dog claw. Luckily it healed very nicely, but I was furious with DH!!!

QoL - mine has magically turned into a rather nice shiraz, cheers Wine

beanandspud · 17/10/2012 20:37

(((hugs))) to you all JM.

QueenofL Wine would be lovely thank you. I was up at 4:30am for work so flagging a bit now but have a RL glass of sauvignon on the go. Have abandoned the assignment I should be doing and am watching rubbish tv with DH.

Cheers MT!

Are you working half-term week?

mistlethrush · 18/10/2012 19:49

Unfortunately, yes :(

Scout19075 · 19/10/2012 13:16

I'm bored. I want to go out but I'm stuck waiting for the plumber who didn't give me a time range for his appearance. ARGH!

Happy belated Birthday to CMOT and MT!

mistlethrush · 19/10/2012 13:37

What needs plumbing Scout?

Scout19075 · 19/10/2012 14:41

Do you remember last winter when my heating kept going? We had a very useless plumber who kept saying "I need to do this/order that and I'll be back." Well, MrScout kept harassing calling him and he never came back. So we have a new plumber in to sort out the leak in the boiler and to service it.

He's come. He's gone. He'll be back next week. He did one thing to hopefully stop the leak but he can't get into the boiler (someone put something on too tightly) to service it so he'll come back with a special tool to try to get into it.

Unfortunately it's too late and too wet now for Toddler and I to go into town to pick up my package from the post office because parcel collection shuts at 2.

Scout19075 · 19/10/2012 14:44

And I'd like to thank the plumber for being lovely to Toddler who talked his ear off and was trying to climb into the little boiler closet with him to see what he was doing.
