Episode 34 - The Tearoom moves to New England

beanandspud · 22/09/2012 23:25

At this time of year New England is famous for its glorious foliage as billions of leaves change from green to a kaleidoscope of colours. The air is crisp and cool ? perfect for hiking, biking or a drive along back roads, where farm stands are piled high with crunchy apples and orange pumpkins.

Everyone is welcome. There are tea, cakes and wine aplenty so pull up a comfortable chair and join us.

The usual rule applies - no fisticuffs please!

Mine weren't a separate prescription but for each dose of medicine there was a needle next to it (4 doses/4 needles per box). Sharps box(es) weren't on prescription, either. At least I don't think so -- when I had my first appointment they gave me a box which I carried around the hospital to the various tests, the pharmacy counter, etc.

When I had my needles in the US I didn't take my sharps box (didn't want to carry it in my carry-on luggage and didn't want to leave it in my checked luggage for various reasons) but my former GP surgery (the practice where my parents still go) agreed to take my needles and destroy them for me. They're also the place were we take Toddler if there's an emergency when we're in the US.

Fracture clinic confirm no actual fractures, which is great, and advised back to hand peeps if the extra stiffness persists.
Mum is still in hospital, and they still don't know what is wrong. I am hoping they may investigate fully this time - last time they just blamed it on her pain relief patches, which have not been changed this time.

Oxeye - your lovely, lovely man said there was no more he could do for me alas. I would recommend him to anyone though. Up here I have someone I've been seeing for my elbows, and who does hands too.

beanandspud · 12/10/2012 11:53

Sending (((((hugs))))) to CMOT and MistleFamily.

Would anyone like Brew and fruit cake?

::rolls up sleeeve hopefully for miracle B12 injection:: Grin

I'll have some of that please Bean. We are now dogless Sad

Jacksmania · 12/10/2012 15:16

(((((((((((((((((Mistle)))))))))))))))))

I'm so sorry. :(
Here, have some cake, Wine, Brew, or some of my B12 if it will help.
That's so sad. I missed the rest of yesterday's posts, but did MC get to say goodbye to her?
:( ((((((HUG)))))))

beanandspud · 12/10/2012 15:18

So sorry, MT Sad. Hope you are all as ok as you can be if that makes sense.

So sorry MT. Hope you find a lovely MistlePup soon.

CMOTDibbler · 12/10/2012 16:38

((Mt)) love, Brew, and sticky cake coming your way.

Mum out of hospital now, which is a relief

mistlethrush · 12/10/2012 19:38

Cmot - I hope that they've worked out what's wrong? Or at least given you a bit more of an idea?

JM - yes, I told him this morning so that he could say goodbye before going to school - I came back from work to be with DH - and then went back to work. I've really been struggling this week with work - couldn't get the concentration or flow.

Its silly little things - like the empty space in the hall where her basket was, and the lack of bowls in the utility room, and the lack of movement when getting a packet of butter out of the fridge....

I've been through all the rescue centres websites in the country (it feels like) to try to find something that has somewhere along the right lines of potential - its much more difficult this time as we've got DS to take into account - so whilst we could take on a 'needs an experienced owner' dog last time, this time I don't think its a good idea, just because mc is less predictable and whilst he's really good with dogs, he's still not dealt with a troublesome issue with one....

I think alcohol may be needed this evening

mistlethrush · 12/10/2012 19:39

And, of course, mistlepup has very big shoes to fill and its going to be a struggle to find a dog that can hope to come near.

UniS · 12/10/2012 19:51

Wine and the choc box of requirement.

Scout19075 · 12/10/2012 21:16

I'm sorry, MT. Sad

CMOT, any ideas on what's happening with your mum?

beanandspud · 12/10/2012 22:30

MT - we have an RSPCA centre round the corner but they only have one puppy on their website. I am guessing that it is better to wait and find the right dog than make a hasty, and possibly wrong, decision?

Can I have a tearoom boast? Small Bean came home tonight and given that he couldn't read at all when he started school five weeks ago he is reading and spelling all of his flashcards, beginning to read simple books and writing simple words and sentences. I still can't quite believe how much progress he's made and I am so proud of him, particularly since he had to settle into a school where he didn't know anyone.

It's Friday night and I have Wine on the go if anyone is still up?

Thanks Bean - have just been out for dinner with local MNetters which was great.

Dr told dad that mums collapse etc was due to constipation. Which she was (long term opiates, won't take the laxatives), but I'm not sure that it is. Dad is terrified she'll have a turn in the bath or out, and I can't blame him

mistlethrush · 13/10/2012 02:07

Well done small bean!

I can't believe how many dogs I've looked through - if we wanted a staffie or staffie cross we'd not have any problem. Or indeed a small hairy thing. Might manage to get to see a pointer/spaniel cross puppy which sounds interesting. If we'd wanted more than one that would also have made it easier.

How lovely! Well done, Thumb! Thanks Thanks Thanks

Should we not, though, delete that post as it might out her in RL?

mistlethrush · 13/10/2012 19:24

I will ask for the name to be deleted, sorry didn't think (too little sleep last night)

UniS · 13/10/2012 20:41

Oooh. Fairy lights. That's brilliant, Unis!

Jacksmania · 14/10/2012 05:29

Congratulations Thumb :):):):):):)

Mistle, the empty spaces where the litter tray used to be, or food bowls, or basket, were the hardest to bear after my little old man cat died. :(

Scout19075 · 14/10/2012 19:20

After a minor panic that they might be discontinuing the one thing Toddler "really really likes" when asked what he might like for a present for his birthday or Christmas MrScout & I have managed to purchase it today. Whew! "Big" Christmas present sorted!

oxeye · 14/10/2012 23:34

ooh I missed the deleted post - what's the Thumb News?

Mistle - so sorry it's terrible to lose them isn't it

CMOT vibes for your hand - does acupuncture help or is that too woo for you? and hoping your mum is sorted out soon

well done mini bean
inspired deco UniS!

mistlethrush · 15/10/2012 08:41

Thumb's had a baby boy! So must now have small thumb and mini thumb!! Small thumb looks very happy in the picture I've seen.

My sleeping pattern is all over the place at the moment - once I've woken up I can't get back to sleep - Saturday morning came downstairs at 1am and got perhaps another 2 hrs broken sleep from about 4 onwards - this morning I woke at 4am (so better...) and came down at 4.45am - which isn't good with a week of hard work ahead.

UniS · 16/10/2012 11:24

cakje?? any one. It;'s offical- UniS is having a day of domestic godnessness and has made a Victoria sponge. Chicken pesto mayo and will be going onto try and make a chocolate ganache... I may even manage to vacuum the house, but don;t hold your breath.

I think I'll need mellors to help me clear up after all this activity.... perhaps he could bring the fluffy towels and the massage couch with him.

Morning all.
