Episode 34 - The Tearoom moves to New England

At this time of year New England is famous for its glorious foliage as billions of leaves change from green to a kaleidoscope of colours. The air is crisp and cool ? perfect for hiking, biking or a drive along back roads, where farm stands are piled high with crunchy apples and orange pumpkins.

Everyone is welcome. There are tea, cakes and wine aplenty so pull up a comfortable chair and join us.

The usual rule applies - no fisticuffs please!

Yay, more newbies! Welcome from another recent newbie :) Scout, we have to submit the school application by January 15th so we have a bit of time to think about it. We could revisit some schools (or look at more different ones to confuse ourselves further), and I do want to visit the after school clubs in 2 of them to see what those are like. It's just typical that the school I love is the furthest away. But only a 7 min drive so not hideous, just 7 mins the wrong way from work.

Jealous of all you having takeaways tonight. DH is out at choir tonight, so Banderchanglet and I cooked mushroom pasta. He chopped all the mushrooms really well [proud]. We're in a cooking phase atm with our Sure Start cooking classes each Monday and have just discovered I Can Cook on CBeebies. Hoping this enthusiasm continues!

Jacksmania · 11/10/2012 20:08

Oh, we have newbies! How lovely! :):):) Welcome!

Just remember we're all a bit mad and most of us drink a lot of not necessarily imaginary wine and champagne :o

CMOTDibbler · 11/10/2012 20:14

And are you resting young lady JM ? Hmm ? No, thought not. You don't want those shingles back do you ?

Scout19075 · 11/10/2012 20:15

JM, how are you feeling?

Scout19075 · 11/10/2012 20:21

CMOT, how was your take-out?

UniS · 11/10/2012 20:21

evening all.

I'm cold tonight. got wet and cold working outside again today. more wet n cold working outside tomorrow to come, and a VERY early start to the day. Bah. I am dropping boy off with a friend at 7.10, then DH at the city train station ( 7.45, 20 mile drive ) then I start work at 8( in city centre) .

We have hit Mr Majeka books from school at last - hurrah. And boys homework writing came back with only a positive comment, not a reminder about his targets as well. Hurrah.

would you like one?

note to the new or bewildered- the Choc box of requirements holds exactly the chocolates ( or other treats) you would like most right now.

Ohh, a coffee cream, perfect.

CMOTDibbler · 11/10/2012 20:30

Take out was luuvvverly. Didn't go too mad as don't want to blow the calories budget.

Mmm nougat, thanks UniS. Tomorrow sounds grim.

mistlethrush · 11/10/2012 20:30

Evening. Bit of a dilema....

Vet booked for mistledog tomorrow sometime. Do we tell mistlechick before school so that he can say goodbye, or on the way home when (hopefully) its all over?

And does anyone know of anyone with some nice medium sized puppies available?

Scout19075 · 11/10/2012 20:37

Mmmm, Reeses. Many thanks!

UniS · 11/10/2012 20:40

I think give Mistle chick the chance to say goodbye and take a last photo/ paw print etc . and tell his teacher that .

mistlethrush · 11/10/2012 20:42

His teacher already knows we've got the issue - and we'll email in, definitely....

(welcome to everyone new!)

beanandspud · 11/10/2012 20:52

Peanut M&Ms and Veuve Cliquot - an underrated combination - cheers!

MT, I'm sorry about MistleDog, I think I would give MC the chance to say goodbye. I am guessing that he already knows that she really isn't well and from what I know of MC it sounds as if he is old enough to understand. Are school supportive if he has a wobble tomorrow?

JM and CMOT - get back to the sofa and relax please!!!

Hello to Middy and QueenofL I have a DS (Small Bean) who is 4.5 and very loveable but has a tendency to tell very long, complicated and mostly made-up stories. I am married to Mr Bean which Maud finds quite amusing Grin

mistlethrush · 11/10/2012 20:55

Yes, they are - he had a wobble last wednesday already as last Tuesday she was bad to the extent that I thought we wouldn't be able to keep her going longer... He does know how bad she is because it was not sensible to hide it from him - particularly as we're upset anyway.

Jacksmania · 11/10/2012 21:56

I am resting!! Errr actually no I'm not, I'm having a very busy day at work. Blush Can't lie to the Tea Room.

I'm actually feeling ok. I have injectable B12 and am supposed to give myself a jab every other day, and today was Jab Day. It's my new crack. I love B12. It makes me feel like my petrol tank is full. But not all horrible and jittery. Just like a normal person whatever that feels like.

Jacksmania · 11/10/2012 21:56

Sorry, meant to say, mistle, I'd let MC have a last hug of mistledog.

Oh, I feel so :( for you.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 11/10/2012 22:08

Yes, I think one last hug and paw print too.

Veuve Clicquot and twiglets. The ambrosia of the gods.

CMOTDibbler · 11/10/2012 22:11

I'd do a last hug and say goodbye too. Love to you for tomorrow.

JM, could you jab me ? I'd love to have a full tank

oxeye · 11/10/2012 22:23

Mistle - I would definitely tell MC and allow goodbyes. I still remember the trauma of my guinea pig dying and my not saying goodbye

CMOT Sad about your wrist and your Mum - I hadn't realised you were left with such poor function - are you going to see our favourite man?

Welcome newbies! I'm old both in years and tearoom years (like dog years) and raddled and mother of one lovely DS who is both nicer than me and than I deserve!

JM - go and lie down!

Bean - would you have to drive to school? Another way of travelling might make it easier than fighting the tide?

oxeye · 11/10/2012 22:23

can I have a B12 jab too?

ComeIntoTheSpookyGardenMaud · 11/10/2012 22:28

B12 jab sounds like Heaven too!

QueenofLouisiana · 11/10/2012 22:37

mistle I am sorry to read about mistledog. Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Jacksmania · 11/10/2012 22:53

Here, you can just buy it, and syringes and needles, at any pharmacy, without prescription. I'm guessing that's not the case in the UK?

ComeIntoTheSpookyGardenMaud · 11/10/2012 22:58

Nah. I'm pretty sure you can buy B12 as a supplement (as opposed to mixed B vitamins) but I don't think syringes and needles are ever sold over the counter - prt of the UK's drugs policy, as far as I know. I'm trying to remember, when I had injectable drugs, whether the syringes were actually part of the prescription or just came with the drugs, IYSWIM.

Scout19075 · 11/10/2012 23:05

My needles come with the drug as part of the box of drugs.

ComeIntoTheSpookyGardenMaud · 11/10/2012 23:09

That's what I can't remember, Scout. I remember having them (and the sharps box) but it's so long ago I have no idea how I got them.
