Episode 33 - The Orangery - Tea anyone?

The tearoom has traveled back to the Orangery for another visit. There are bluebells in the nearby woods, and Mellors has Earl Grey and Lady Grey ready for some excursions. Mellors has, indeed, been overwintering away from Canada for some reason - I think he's been helping Maud out in the garden. There are tulips out in urns outside, and there are a few tables out in the sunny courtyard for use between showers.

Whether you have one child or several, pull up a chair and share a Brew or a Wine. The only rules remains no fisticuffs.

My bunting may be a LITTLE over the top....

But I have made a fab rhubarb n custard cake to take to the village party tomorrow.

Scout19075 · 03/06/2012 23:57

We have homemade (colored by Toddler) bunting hanging on the inside our our door. I do have bought bunting that never made it up. We were away for the weekend and Toddler carried his flag around, waving it regularly. MrScout taught him to say "God save the queen" but he needs to prompted to say it (as in, will only repeat it like a parrot).

Lovely weekend away with my boys. MrScout's on holiday all week -- YAY!

teafortwo · 04/06/2012 07:17

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/06/2012 10:36

::clasps LaBelleDame to her ample bosom::

I think the pineapple plant will be a eucomis, Jacksmania. And I lurve lilies, although I hate having to squish the beetles? Do you have those in Canada?

Rhubarb and custard cake? I must look out for a recipe as we grow so much rhubarb on the allotment it's rhubarb-a-gogo here.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/06/2012 10:38

And yes please to Pimms if you're offering, Tea!

Jacksmania · 04/06/2012 15:26

Feeling very sad this morning. A friend from yoga who has so bravely battled cancer, through chemo, radiation and multiple ops, has just passed away. My heart breaks for her little girls (5 and 7). Another friend has the little one in her kindergarten class and we've just been sniffling down the phone to each other :(
Oh, Im so sad. :(:(:(:(

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/06/2012 15:55

Oh, Jacksmania. That is terrible. So tragic.

::offers a hankie and a hug::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/06/2012 15:56

Gah. That wholly inappropriate grin was not intended.

Jacksmania · 04/06/2012 18:27

But it made me smile, and I really needed it. :)

I'm finding it very hard to be at work today. Good thing most of my patients are face down for a good bit.
I keep seeing my friend everywhere, if that makes any sense. I struggled with leaving JB at preschool today, hugging him goodbye I thought "my friend will never hug her little girls again" and I struggled to let go of him.

teafortwo · 04/06/2012 20:04

I have no idea what to say, JM - so, so sad - my thoughts really are with your friend, her family and you. Xxxxxx

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/06/2012 21:10

I can never remember whether it's the upper or lower case o that gives the :o, that's the trouble.

It's a terrible thing when people die young, leaving small children.

beanandspud · 04/06/2012 22:20

Sending you lots and lots of hugs JM. I have no clever words but my thoughts are with you all.

Jacksmania · 04/06/2012 22:54

Thank you. I just want to cry and cry. Not that that helps at all.

Jacksmania · 04/06/2012 22:57

I can't imagine what it must have been like for her these last few months knowing there was no hope, that she was dying and leaving her little girls. How could anyone hold on to anything good, knowing that?
Sorry, I'm really struggling with this.

UniS · 05/06/2012 13:57

love n hugs JM. thought of you today as we had maple syrup with yoghurt for pudding.

Jacksmania · 05/06/2012 15:31

Thanks UniS. Thanks
That sounds lovely. You should try making maple and nut granola and having it with yoghurt. It's soooo good.

UniS · 05/06/2012 16:21

Making stuff afternoon in chez uni again ( raining again). Boy and I have constructed the basic frame to turn a bike into a pirate ship.... more work needed with cardboard. today was the wood and scrap plastic pipe stage.

oxeye · 05/06/2012 16:44

oh JM I am so very very sorry for your loss

we have tons of bunting, right across the street, and huge flags hanging from the houses. we had a corker of a street party and lots of other stufff but I am now officially Jubillee'd out....

oxeye · 05/06/2012 16:55

::hugs LaBelleDame:: assuming you are la mere d'elliptical miss

xx

LaBelleDameSansPatience · 05/06/2012 21:31

Just a brief drop in. So lovely to be hugged, to bosoms both ample and svelte.

The miss is as elliptical as ever, still bizarre, gaining in confidence but not enjoying school. Has a couple of very firm friends now.

Tea, did I see you in here?? Was planning London trip while DH was in Barcelona in July, but just heard he can't go. Am up for a day in London anyway, but would now have to be weekday (Tuesday or Thursday, pref Thursday) instead of weekend.

JM, so sorry for your news.

Have spent the day watching turkey chicks hatch and baking chocolatr cakes with the rabbit sitting on the table watching.

The skeleton of RacingPig was found behind the greenhouse. How I wish I had thought to look there when he disappeared ... Sad.

Have had many Jubilee celebrations, both corkers and otherwise, now have seen enough bank holidays and enough rain for the time being.

Incidentally, I am of course not belle at all, just pretending to be. Just as I never race.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/06/2012 21:32

Our tent is festooned with beaucoup de bunting. I would love to see Oxeye Gardens with its flags!

More hugs for Jacksmania.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/06/2012 21:37

LaBelle!

::more clasping::

Photographic evidence, I recall, shows that you are indeed belle, so none of this false modesty. Poor old RacingPig.

We have not done much jubilee-ing. I wish we had tried to organise a street party. Ah well.

beanandspud · 05/06/2012 21:51

Lovely to see you LaBelle!

A good holiday weekend chez Bean. Small party yesterday with friends was lovely and we are still eating leftovers. Village fayre today was good fun and we are all shattered.

Can't believe it's back to 'normal' tomorrow. Have really, really enjoyed this last few days - Small Bean has been a star and we have had so many laughs with him. Fortunately we are on holiday again in three weeks - the diet starts tomorrow!!!
