Episode 33 - The Orangery - Tea anyone?

mistlethrush · 08/05/2012 08:58

The tearoom has traveled back to the Orangery for another visit. There are bluebells in the nearby woods, and Mellors has Earl Grey and Lady Grey ready for some excursions. Mellors has, indeed, been overwintering away from Canada for some reason - I think he's been helping Maud out in the garden. There are tulips out in urns outside, and there are a few tables out in the sunny courtyard for use between showers.

Whether you have one child or several, pull up a chair and share a Brew or a Wine. The only rules remains no fisticuffs.

It's a cute thing Toddler's cute or I may just have sent him back to where he came from last night.

It's a GOOD thing Toddler's cute or I may just have sent him back to where he came from last night.

Ooops!
Sorry Mistlethrush, I seem to have got bunting wrapped all round my ears.....
Blush

YD's school picnic has been cancelled due to dull grey weather Sad

mistlethrush · 01/06/2012 13:35

Aw that's a real shame!

DS has a 'jubilee celebration day' today - I have no idea what they're doing but apparently all I needed to do was let him go in 'party' clothes. I'm not quite sure what 'party' clothes are for DS because he chooses not to wear long-sleeved shirts and, because its 'summer' he's wearing shorts ... so normal weekend attire really.

Happy Jubilee to HMTQ.

Ok, that's done. Wine anyone?

Donki · 01/06/2012 19:47

I have just contemplated seeing when Queenie is visiting Leeds, and finding out if taking the YD is feasible. Blush

Wow, buntingtastic UniS Grin Must put ours out tomorrow

I have a lovely fruitcake in the oven as part of my preparations for the produce show on Sunday.

BelleDame - how lovely to see you Smile How are things ?

Who is for some Pimms ?

beanandspud · 01/06/2012 20:49

Did someone mention Pimms? Yes, please!

Hello to everyone! Only been away for a couple of days and I have missed so much. I was down in 'The Smoke' this week and loved seeing all of the flags and bunting on Regents Street etc. CrownSmileCrownSmileCrown. Small Bean has had a ball with his grandparents while I was working but is absolutely shattered and could barely make it upstairs to bed.

Thank you for all of the lunch suggestions - I have added them to my growing list of ideas. We are going for a 'cook inside; eat outside' type meal so there will no doubt be lots of leftovers on Tuesday as portion control is not my strong point.

mistlethrush · 01/06/2012 21:32

Hello Belledame!

Donki - let me know, it might make waiting better if we had someone to wait with Blush

Pimms? I don't mind if I do! Wine

MT It's sometime around the 17th-19thJuly... I don't know any more yet.
I agree that company makes waiting more bearable. The YD also wants to go to Temple Newsam for the Olympic Torch (I blame propaganda from school) on 24th June. I don't know if the torch event needs tickets?

Our school is going to wave, kit and caboodle, when the torch comes through the village the school is in. Having helped with some of the risk assessments, we will need nearly as many staff as we have students! We'll have our own PCSO and everything....

mistlethrush · 01/06/2012 23:28

Hmmm... we might not be around for the Queen then.

But we might manage the torch. Potentially....

Shock Mellors! It's really not safe to muck out deshabillé

Nobody will need to eat for a month after that lot!
Have a good weekend everybody - We're off on holiday! Woohoo!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 02/06/2012 09:23

Bon voyage, Donki!

::scoffs breakfast::

Jacksmania · 02/06/2012 16:44

Mmmm... bacon and eggs... it's just breakfast time here. Thanks Donki and have a lovely holiday! Here, have some candied carrots for the road.

How's everyone else?

I am going to a plant sale today. A local online plant/flower company are getting rid of their spring stock, and the venue is halfway between our house and MIL's. I expect to get some fabulous deals :o which then means I have to take a very close look at the flower bed tomorrow. I think I'm going to get rid of the three gigantic lupines. They're lovely, in that they flower first so I have a burst of purple some time in May when the tulips are done but everything else is still just sort of thinking about flowering - but they are massive, and are shading some other stuff I really want to see. So, there may be some hard work in my future tomorrow.

UniS · 02/06/2012 19:14

ummmm, breakfast, love teh churros y choc.

JM, I have a Canadian query. Maple syrup? does any of the grade A stuff leave Canada, I can only find grades 2 or C here in supermarkets. Maybe I should be looking in a more expensive shop ( deli) or maybe the good stuff stays at home?

MORE bunting made and hung today. DH will tolerate it " for a few days" little does he realise I intend to have it up for a BBQ in 3 weeks time and my birthday in 5 and maybe when some friends come over for the evening in 10 days....

Torch relay - over rated, but strangely exciting if you do go. Better view of it all on TV.

Jacksmania · 03/06/2012 04:52

The Grade A stuff leaves Canada only if shipped by friends. As far as I know it's not exported. I could be wrong but you're not the first person who's said she can't find any.
Would you like some? :)

UniS · 03/06/2012 20:26

don;t worry, I like the grade C stuff well enough. just wondered.

But perhaps you could pop a jug of A grade on teh side board here in teh tea room for us mere mortals out side Canada to try on our pancakes in the morning.

Have spent a happy hour moching round teh US amazon site. adding things to my gift idea list with gay abandon. I think my DN&N's would like lego candy moulds...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/06/2012 20:39

Come on, Jacksmania. Tell me about your plant treasure!

::waggles trowel enticingly::

I bought bunting today.

::feels inadequate::

Jacksmania · 03/06/2012 23:23

Maud, I got lilies. Gobs of them. DS helped me pick them out and completely charmed the socks off the ladies there is going to help me plant them in the cedar planter layer. We picked out shades of deep red to yellow. The one lady there was so in love with DS she gave him a blueberry plant, and something she calls a pineapple plant (the flower looks like a pineapple, she didn't give him an actual pineapple plant). It was lovely.
