Tea room 22- A Farmhouse kitchen, anyone for a cuppa?

Welcome to the 22nd incarnation of the tea room. This time we are watching for spring from a cosy farmhouse kitchen. There is an aga for baking virtual cakes and an inglenook with toasty fire and settles to rest weary bones on. The distressed chintz sofa and footstool have arrived safe and sound and the priest hole is around here somewhere. On the Window sill is an aspidistra its pot surrounded by a hand holding circle of nearly naked mohawk babies, they have placards and a brazier.

Outside in the surrounding fields can be found the tea room horses, Earl and Lady Grey, also a herd of bison AND a Ha Ha to keep the bishops from invading.

Usual rules apply, no fisticuffs, if you want an argument go else where. Mellors the butler / game keeper will supply all sorts of things on request. Welcome Mums of one, none or many to the tea room of requirement.

He lives a commuting half-life. We live in East Anglia, main office is in London. When he's not in London (ie, when he has an assignment) he can be anywhere in the country/world. We've done "weekend husband" before (but that was pre-BabyScout). For now he does a (roughly) two hour commute one way (driving/train/walking). On average he's gone (approximately) 13.5 hours a day.

He really enjoys his job, he's good at it and it allows me to be a SAHM (which I love) so I moan about his commute on here but never to him.

Ooohhh, a party amber? With a disco ball and dancing and cocktails?

::Joins in with shape throwing gleefully::

Whats a toll house cookie?? is it octagonal??

Hugs and mugs of tea to those who need them, dead hard sums for those who prefer those.

Busy week over, now for a busy weekend. Should be fun tho, seeing various combinations of friends for playing, eating, drinking and quizzing.

LOL at asci tits. and blue tits.

Ooh. It's disco night. Yippee. Have you had your five portions of fruit today? If not, . Rama.

So much to catch up on. Timely reminder from BoffinMum about the false prophets and profits of snake oil salesmen. Wise words from Oxeye and Tee thereon. And yay to Amber's reminder (I saw the report of that research too) about the positive value of friends.

::Thinks that BoffinMum got the hang of this place very quickly and hopes she'll stick around::

Donki · 28/01/2011 22:23

OOOh!
Look what I found tucked away in the corner behind the clothes horse....

Scout19075 · 28/01/2011 22:26
Donki · 28/01/2011 22:29

Nope, that wasn't it...

Here's a hint.

It's green.

And mustn't be blasphemed

  • but it will stay very quietly out of the way (indeed out of sight) and not cause trouble.
Scout19075 · 28/01/2011 22:32

Ahhh.... I see! The one who must not be named....

BoffinMum · 28/01/2011 22:35

LOL her bossness has unexpectedly cancelled our weekly blow a raspberry at Boff meeting. I've either scared her or I'm about to be sacked after she has got HR in to join her!!!

BoffinMum · 28/01/2011 22:37

PS I will have you know that my toll house cookies are home made and traditional and nuffink to do with Nestle.

Any Bolly left? Did someone put a spoon in the top last night? Or has Mellors drunk it all?

Scout19075 · 28/01/2011 22:37

Boff, where about in the world are you?

BoffinMum · 28/01/2011 22:43

A city in East Anglia with two universities and punts. I work in another city in East Anglia, that also has a university and an amusing Radio DJ with his own TV show.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 28/01/2011 22:47

BoffinMum - Has anyone explained yet that this is a Tea Room of Requirement? We never run out of Bolly, although sometimes it's a damn close run thing. And Mellors would never be drunk on duty.

Does everyone get a meeting at which to have raspberries blown at them or are you uniquely privileged?

::Shares Bolly::

::Holds lighter aloft::

Scout19075 · 28/01/2011 22:48

Just sounded like you were in the US for a minute. I think you might be near me.

Speaking of the US. M&D got another 18 inches of snow and are currently having another dusting. Poor BabyScout, missing on all that snow fun with his Grandad....

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 28/01/2011 22:49

Aha. Another one recruited for the tea room East Anglia nexus.

BoffinMum · 28/01/2011 22:52

I am not sure about the raspberry meetings. I think I am top of the list for various reasons I can't go into online, and probably predate my employment at the place. But I would hate to think I am monopolising her. Anyway, applied for a new job yesterday.

Glad about the Bolly. I was a bit worried there for a minute. I am now handing around hibiscus flowers in syrup as DH got me a pot of these for Xmas and you put them in champers and then eat them at the end. They are very pretty.

Scout19075 · 28/01/2011 22:53

If it's not the Americans taking over the tea room it's the East Anglians. Wink

BoffinMum · 28/01/2011 22:56

Do you think I am too old to make it as a rock star? I have been a professional singer in the past and I fancy having hair like those guys in the Queen clip.

BoffinMum · 28/01/2011 22:56

LOL half my family has ended up American. Grin

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 28/01/2011 22:58

Hibiscus flowers in syrup? I am a fanatical gardener and spend far too much time gardening when I should be doing something, anything else, but I'm very lily-livered (geddit) about eating them. Are hibiscus flowers tasty?

Always good to have an escape route if work becomes intolerable, I think. Would the new job be at the same Seat of Learning?

Ha to the invasion from the Americas.
