The One-Child Tea Room, version 21... the Hawaiian Islands. Cocktails, anyone?

Welcome everyone to the 21st (!!!) One-Child Tea Room. Not to be misleading, we do have inhabitants who have or are planning more than one! Everyone is welcome.

The usual rules apply: no fisticuffs, or you will be escorted out by Mellors the Hunky Gardener. Depending on your preference, he looks variously like Daniel Craig, George Clooney, David Boreanaz, Gerard Depardieu... I have a feeling we all see something different but whatever we see makes us drool! And considering that this Tea Room is in the Hawaiian Islands, whoever we see is definitely shirtless! :o

Cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, yummy food that is entirely without fattening effects, and lewd rolls abound in the Tea Room. There is also a full cappucino bar.

This is essentially A Tea Room of Requirement, and we're currently on the lovely sandy beaches of Maui, with beach huts, lounge chairs, cabanas, mango and papaya trees, and of course, lots of coffee directly from Kona.

Pop on in and stay a while. We may all seem a bit mad eccentric but we're very friendly!

What was the deal with the Waitrose car park?? [curious]

I'd like you all to know that I kept having recurrent dreams of aspidistras last night Xmas Angry

DCMB and I both frequent the same store - but she scraped her car across a concrete pillar in there (it has a rather strange lay out)

Keep the aspidistra flying !

Jacksmama · 04/01/2011 17:09

Oh dear Shock

How are you, CMOT?

I was being distracted by DD at the time. Just one of the many MANY reasons it's a good thing I only have one child, I can't actually drive whilst being distracted by just the one, I'd cause carnage if I had squabbling siblings in the back.

DD is having a one-on-one trampoline lesson due to the other parents of primary-age trampolinists apparently not realising term has started (very few schools are back today). She SHOULD be knackered, nice early night, up bright and early for school tomorrow ... is that distant oinking and flapping I hear?

Were the aspidistras flying in your dreams, JM?

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 17:49

Evening all! Just back from our booze cruise cultural excursion to France.

Pleased to meet you Tee. I am Small. I am very very old and have one daughter. I am fond of aspidistras.

Woo hoo to anyone starting school this week.

UniS · 04/01/2011 18:50

Woo Hoo gratefully accepted. I did try and start a thread on primary ed board, but it sank with out trace. Guess not so many schools do split intake now.

SO far I have found out that Year R this morning did - exercises, something that looked like gardening with the interactive white board, Played on their ride on tractors in the sunny playground and had half a story before I arrived to pick him up. beyond that , I know nothing.

Aspidistra on toast for JM? peanut butter on toast for the yanks and honey on toast for teh rest of us, any takers?

thumbwitch · 04/01/2011 18:53

I'll take the honey on toast, yes please! it's nearly 6am here - have been awake since 4:15 and am just starting to get peckish.

MrThumb came through about 5am, couldn't sleep well either, and said "if you want to go and see that Harry Potter film, we'd better go tonight" - woo hoo! He doesn't want to see it at all, but I said to him last week that I would like it if he came with me, and we could have dinner out together (MIL can babysit for miniThumb) - he thought that was reasonable.

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 19:01

Honey on toast? Yum. Yes please.

I thought split intakes had ended - or is that from September 2011? From my PoV (parent of confident girl who was itching to go to school in September with her chums but had to wait until January) that's a good thing. But I know that views differ.

I found the HP film a huge bore, but I have odd taste in films. Hope you have a hot date with MrThumb, Thumb!

Tee2072 · 04/01/2011 19:30

I have Bourbon Creams, I'll skip the toast please. I have a whole packet, anyone want one?

Hi Small, nice to meet you. How old is very very old? I'm 42 in 31 days.

thumb, where are you? Obviously not the UK!!

Scout19075 · 04/01/2011 19:35

Tantruming BabyScout who's arguing about going to bed. It is a temper cry, not a pain or a hungry or anything.

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 19:35

Tee - You are a mere slip of a girl compared to me!

amberlight · 04/01/2011 19:37

Tee, amazing youth! I am ancient by comparison.

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 19:41

And Amber is younger than me too. But then, so is Methuselah.

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 19:43
Tee2072 · 04/01/2011 19:45

Ah yes, but are any of your kids under the age of 2? Because I feel about 900 with a 18.5 month old in my life, who just learned how to climb up on the sofa! Yay?

Scout19075 · 04/01/2011 19:46

Cheers, Amber!

He's usually good about bedtime (I don't ahere to a strict time, but a guide, and follow his tired signs). He's knackered but quite p!ssed off at me for putting him to bed.

My poor neighbors....

Tropical fruit platter, anyone?

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 19:52

No, Tee, my child is older than two, although I suspect we were very similar ages when we gave birth. I remember the sofa climbing which, round here, was accompanied by wax-crayon-fresco-above-the-sofa-making. Yikes.

.
Jacksmama · 04/01/2011 19:57

Tee, you and I are about the same age. I am an April baby.

Shut up about the aspidistras, you lot. You're giving me bad dreams. Yes, they were flying in my dreams!!
I am done with nasty spiky ugly completely undecorative plants that serve no useful purpose!!!

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 04/01/2011 20:03

Yay, reinforcement has arrived in the form of MrScout!

Donki · 04/01/2011 20:27

Good heavens Tee - you are but a spring chicken!

Tee2072 · 04/01/2011 20:27

Whoohoo MrScout!

I'll be quiet about the you know what, JM, in honour of being nearly birthday mates! Grin

But I am wondering if any plants server a useful purpose. I mean, decorative ones. Not ones we eat, obviously.

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 20:47

Although I invariably kill them, I love houseplants. They (and books) do furnish a room.

UniS · 04/01/2011 21:05

spikey???? are we talking bout same plant?

I think of mine as curly. Tho that is a sideways curl rather than teh roll of a fern.

Jacksmama · 04/01/2011 21:45

Fine. Curly.
Can we stop talking about them now????

:o
