The One-Child Tea Room, version 21... the Hawaiian Islands. Cocktails, anyone?

Welcome everyone to the 21st (!!!) One-Child Tea Room. Not to be misleading, we do have inhabitants who have or are planning more than one! Everyone is welcome.

The usual rules apply: no fisticuffs, or you will be escorted out by Mellors the Hunky Gardener. Depending on your preference, he looks variously like Daniel Craig, George Clooney, David Boreanaz, Gerard Depardieu... I have a feeling we all see something different but whatever we see makes us drool! And considering that this Tea Room is in the Hawaiian Islands, whoever we see is definitely shirtless! :o

Cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, yummy food that is entirely without fattening effects, and lewd rolls abound in the Tea Room. There is also a full cappucino bar.

This is essentially A Tea Room of Requirement, and we're currently on the lovely sandy beaches of Maui, with beach huts, lounge chairs, cabanas, mango and papaya trees, and of course, lots of coffee directly from Kona.

Pop on in and stay a while. We may all seem a bit mad eccentric but we're very friendly!

JM, is there some deeper reason behind your aversion to aspidistras? Were you perhaps savaged by one in your youth? Or made to draw one for some art thing? (I went off geraniums for years because of drawing them for the still life part of my are O level)

Tee - I am in Australia, NSW to be more exact. Not Sydney, 1.5h north of it in a "country town".

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 22:01

Great name, practicallyimperfect!

practicallyimperfect · 04/01/2011 22:04

I know- it think it suits me perfectly.

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 22:09

I am sure you are not imperfect (at least, no more than any other mortal soul) but I'm enjoying the Mary Poppins connection.

thumbwitch · 04/01/2011 22:29

goodness, practicallyimperfect - what are you going to call your offspring then (in tearoom parlance)? Great name, btw.

Tee - I am a little bit older than both JM and Oxeye and have a just-turned 3yo. Oxeye hasn't appeared on here for a little while - guess RL is too exciting! But I have no doubt she will be back. :)

DontCallMeBaby · 04/01/2011 22:52

Ooh, I was feeling quite young then until that practicallyimperfect turned up. :o

I think I have one of the older tearoom offspring though.

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 22:54

Ah, DCMB. I'm glad I caught you. Can you give any tips to a novice ukulele player (or would-be player, at this stage)?

Jacksmama · 04/01/2011 23:16

Please don't ask me about the aspidistra trauma. I can't bear talking about it.

Bucket of tea JM? It is well known to be the universal panacaea!

Tee2072 · 05/01/2011 06:30

Am I a bad mummy to be going WHOOHOOO on the inside because LowerCaseTee goes back to daycare today? It's only a half day but I could sure use the break!

Other than that, whose got the coffee? He had me up at 530. And greeted me with a soaking wet bed and a disintegrating nappy! YAY?

amberlight · 05/01/2011 06:50

Tee, no, you're not.

Hospital pre-op tests today. Hmm. Not my fave thing.

Scout19075 · 05/01/2011 06:57

Oh dear, Tee. I feel your pain. I had nearly a week of multiple PJ/bed changes in a night just before Christmas/for Christmas (BabyScout is 14 months). NOT pleasant, is it? I always say it's a good thing he's cute.... Grin

Goal for today -- get BabyScout to finish his thank you pictures and for me to finish writing his notes so we can post them tomorrow. I'm feeling a lazy/at home/stay in our PJs sort of day coming on....

Tropical breakfast, anyone?

::holds Amber's other hand::

Scout this is the third night in a row. Soaked right through to our mattress. Have I mentioned my dryer is broken? Although it is being fixed today. One reason to not cosleep! I am going to have to start doing a nappy change before I go to bed. Or keep waking up damp. Grin

Tropical breakfast sounds lovely, thanks. Also, about 5 more hours of sleep, if that's on the tray. No? Darn. Guess I have to get some work done once MrTee takes LowerCaseTee to Daycare.

Also, I am impressed that BabyScout drawers pictures. Hand LowerCaseTee a pencil/crayon/what have you and he just eats it!

CMOTdibbler · 05/01/2011 08:09

DS dispatched to school without issue. Apart from grumpy dh as he stayed up watching the cricket. I have no sympathy.

amberlight · 05/01/2011 08:18

Can my tropical breakfast be very similar to an ordinary Full English Breakfast please?

I may need my hands back to eat it with for a short amount of time, though, please. Typing with my nose isn't that easy either Grin

Tee2072 · 05/01/2011 08:33

::Gives Amber back her hand:: Feel free to take mine back after you are done eating!

Dryer is fixed! That's the first time a repair man has shown up 5 hours early!! It was scheduled for this afternoon and then BAM here he was at 745!! Now I just have to wait for my Argos delivery for the rest of the day...

amberlight · 05/01/2011 08:40

Yay re dryer! 5 hours early?
Here, we also have gardening contractors doing scary things in the garden with hedge cutters and chain saws, to add to the bafflement. And I have my meeting with my proposed new advocate mid morning Shock.

UniS · 05/01/2011 09:19

UNis stares at PC trying to avoid getting on with her tax return.....

Tropical breakfast please, could do with a burst of sunlight to lift a rather drear day.

practicallyimperfect · 05/01/2011 09:39

I would like some fresh pineapple and coconut please.

Argh, well after two days of clingon baby (that is not his tea room name :) ) I am back to work. I tell you it is a break! Although I have 30 yr 9s arriving any minute and I haven't planned their lesson thoroughly.

If I'm honest I wanted my name to be practically perfect, but it was taken!

Scout19075 · 05/01/2011 09:42

What did Delaware?

Her New Jersey!

(HA!)

UniS · 05/01/2011 09:46

30 year 9s! eeek. good luck..
Is it perfectbaby, or practicalbaby?

Scout19075 · 05/01/2011 09:56

What did Idaho?

Her Maryland!

(HA!)

Scout19075 · 05/01/2011 09:57

(Oh, make them stop!)

BabyScout and I are listening to some of his new CDs while playing with Duplo (and everything else in the toy box).

Scout19075 · 05/01/2011 10:02

Scared at how many of these songs are Girl Scout/Guide songs, too.... Shock
