Tea Room the Nineteenth

All in need of a restful break and a chat are more than welcome to the nineteenth Tea Room.

We find ourselves in the South of France, where the warm sunshine is just the thing for those who are missing the summer. The tea room has its aga and its distressed chintz sofa...and its potted plants. The usual fictional tea room inhabitants are here, as ever: Mellors, the gardener/handyperson with the handy ways with massage; the collection of tea room animals including the horses, camel, bison, guineapigs and sundry others; the Bishops and other faith leaders who joined us a while back and potter in for the occasional cuppa. It may not make sense, but that's not important. What matters is the lovely people here and the chance to just relax.

Unserpent I wonder if Ap would do better knitting while listening to radio or tv sonshe is ffectiveky knitting without thinking because she should find the knowledge is embedded while her recall is getting lost. It's like people with profound brain damage can ( depending on areas ddmahed) can drive fine but remember nothing iyswim

no joy in other place yet

oxeye · 22/11/2010 22:19

Sorry for typing rubbish. It seems I too was at the booze earlier Grin

jollydiane · 22/11/2010 22:51

oxeye · 22/11/2010 23:55

hello jollydiane, so glad you popped back in!
here, have some more twiglets

AandO · 23/11/2010 06:48

Hi guys!

Just quickly popping in to say hi to those who are not on fb and so may think I have disappeared from life totally. Also I dreamt I was chatting to Tea last night, and so I thought I'd pop in again.

Well, as you know I'm now in India! We're having a great time, really relaxing. LittleO is loving his new kindergarten and we can live in a relaxed non stressful fashion here for all of 1,000 euro a month, including rental of a nice house near the beach...so I would highly recommend the place. It is also fairly western so if we fancy pizza or a burrito we can get it easily. I am teaching myself to cook indian at home though!

I hope everyone is well. I will try to pop in more regularly now, as the internet cafe in the village has opened.

Take care xxxxxx

Morning all!

A&O, hello! India?! wow!!!!! Tell us all!!! I have friends in the Mumbai area and love tales of life there.

Yup, re ability to do things automatically with no conscious recollection, unserpent. Failing which, reminder-instructions printed from 't interweb on sock-knitting I guess (though I can understand the alarm would not be from the lack of sock but the realisation that her brain is refusing to co-operate).

Very interesting evening in the House of Commons yesterday with dh. Survived the security searches and extensive police everywhere brandishing their weaponry (how to scare the wits out of an Amber!). Didn't get shot or arrested for Entering the House of Commons in an Autistic Way, which is good. Did get a very nice bit of food and drink and met some lovely MPs and charity chiefs and speakers. Fell asleep on the train home, as ever.

Think that calls for a large cuppa. Anyone else for one?

oo amber - how exciting! I bet the weaponry was a little intimidating - I remember Heathrow at the height of the air security threats - posses of at least 6 police running around with submachine guns - even though I'd done nothing I felt very nervous!

A&O - lovely to hear from you here again! Glad you're having a good time :)

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 23/11/2010 09:36

Great to hear from you, AndO! What's the weather like at the moment?

A cuppa would be lovely. Would anyone like some hot buttered crumpets with an assortment of preserves?

amberlight · 23/11/2010 10:52

Oh go on then...buttered crumpets would be lovely! Just butter on mine...

Just had to get dear 18yr old son from school - thumping migraine.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 23/11/2010 12:50

Oh dear for the FineLad. Hope he recovers soon.

Alors. Maintenant, nous servons la soupe du jour (tomate et basilic) avec des croutons tres suggestifs. Que desirez-vous?

amberlight · 23/11/2010 12:59

la soupe au poulet s'il vous plaît?

OP posts:
ASmallBunchofFlowers · 23/11/2010 13:19

Bien sur. On vous sert, chere madame. Et le BeauGarcon aussi?

amberlight · 23/11/2010 14:15

Oui, magnifique!

It's all this living in the South of France - I think it's getting to us!

OP posts:
ASmallBunchofFlowers · 23/11/2010 14:31

Oooh la la!

amberlight · 23/11/2010 14:53

I worry about them, y'know Hmm .

OP posts:
ASmallBunchofFlowers · 23/11/2010 15:06

I worry, too. Especially as they have just can-canned past a second floor balcony.

amberlight · 23/11/2010 15:42

Stilts, I think

OP posts:
ASmallBunchofFlowers · 23/11/2010 16:54

Amazing! So now we have a combination of Moulin Rouge and Cirque du Soleil!

amberlight · 23/11/2010 17:04

There is no expense spared in the Tea Room, y'know. Wink

OP posts:
ASmallBunchofFlowers · 23/11/2010 17:11

Indeed so, Amber. After all, nobody ever pays for the cakes and drinks and yet we manage to employ staff!

amberlight · 23/11/2010 17:19

and afford luxury premises and a small zoo of animals!

Can you tell I'm trying to avoid doing this report, by the way?

OP posts:
ASmallBunchofFlowers · 23/11/2010 17:21

Yes, normal rules of economics do not apply in the tea room!

Amber. Are you doing (dread word) work? Isn't that against doctor's and everybody's orders?

amberlight · 23/11/2010 17:32

Work? Whatever do you mean?! Biscuit

OP posts:
MellorsYourGardener · 23/11/2010 17:37

Amber, you are coming with me for a walk in the moonlight. That is non-negotiable.
