Calling all lurkers - It’s YOUR week - come and win some prizes!

Come one, come all for the first Lurkers’ Week of the decade!

“What is Lurkers' Week?” we hear you cry from the shadows…

A lurker is someone who reads threads but is yet to take the plunge and post - if that sounds like you, we'd really like you to step into the light and join us on the boards .

All you have to do is post on this thread to say hello and your name will be added to the Mumsnet top hat where you've got the chance to win your choice of a bottle of Red Velvet Cupcake Baileys or Tanqueray gin AND a legendary Mumsnet Mug - which may or may not be dishwasher safe. Grin

We’ll also be rewarding super helpful regular posters who drop by with words of encouragement for our wet-behind-the-ears newbies.

So come on everyone, don’t be shy and join the thread - post below and tell us what you think about Mumsnet. If you’re not in you can’t win.

Find more information about getting started on Mumsnet here.

Happy posting Smile

Hello
I’ve been lurking around Mumsnet for years . I’ve very recently posted on a couple of threads. I use Mumsnet everyday and I’ve read some really great advice and tips, along with occasionally laughing until I cried.

katkit · 14/02/2020 09:35

hello. i comment a little and then worry i'll get shot down in flames. I am an AIBU addict though.

Minionbums · 14/02/2020 11:07

Hello! I’m an addict but don’t often post, I’m too scared of being flamed 😂

TheMemoryLingers · 14/02/2020 20:19

Here is a link to commonly-used Mumsnet acronyms.

Jojo2wyatr · 14/02/2020 20:28

@TheMemoryLingers
Thanks! Very helpful!

Allaboutthepizza · 14/02/2020 21:42

I am a long time lurker, but in fact made my first post last week, and my second on a different thread this evening. So this might be third time lucky for me! Smile

uggpug · 14/02/2020 22:31

Hello! Lurked on the Christmas thread and loved the atmosphere. Like the polls but still nervous about posting!

Playfulgilly · 14/02/2020 23:56

I'm definately a lurker, and happy to be, but i love Mumsnet

Boaby · 15/02/2020 10:21

👋 hello! Lurker here, I often type out a reply then delete it all worried about how my comment will be picked apart 😬 (chronic over thinker!) I’m going to try & be better at participating though, I’ve read some great advice on here & feel I should attempt to give back a bit.

DrinkReprehensibly · 15/02/2020 11:46

Hello! I'm largely a lurker but do occasionally post. Only started a thread a couple of times when I've had really big problems and needed advice. Been on mumsnet for about 10 years though I think!

CathBookworm · 15/02/2020 15:45

Big lurker here. I get lots of advice from here and love following the AIBU threads but never tempted to start my own thread.

TidyupNowplease · 15/02/2020 18:22

Hello, I'm a very long time lurker. Been on mumsnet since before I had my youngest DD and she is about to turn 12! This is my first post, even though I'm on here at least once a day.

CluelessAboutClothes · 16/02/2020 00:53

Did someone say gin? GrinWink

Mostly a lurker. Have posted a few times. Mostly type a reply and then delete. Hmm

SepiaTonedLove · 16/02/2020 06:08

Hello! Not looking for the swag but thought I'd chime in with a thank you.. I've been reading mn for years and years and have posted a handful of times over that period. I find interesting answers to many questions I have here, entertainment while I wait for appointments or when I surrender to the nightly battle against insomnia (tonight, for example!), and I found support and continue to find determination and hope here after my relationship imploded last year. Oh, and I discovered the true joy that is parking wars with diagrams
Fabulous!

Peckhampalace · 16/02/2020 08:41

Hello, lurker of several years. Love hearing other perspectives and learning new things. I use the California roll method to put a duvet cover on, and most recently that there is a little game hidden behind the dinosaur when I can't get internet.

Maelwaedd · 16/02/2020 14:30

Been lurking for a while now. Occasionally comment on a thread but not very often. I've learned a lot about narcissism from these threads and that proved very, very useful when I came across one in real life. These threads can be life saving.

gregorsmummy · 16/02/2020 14:51

Hello! I have been a lurker for seven years and still come here for advice about my now nearly 7 old boy.

Kelsterx · 16/02/2020 17:12

Hand foot and mouth. My son had a temperature and was sick three days ago. Yesterday he developed a rash which I am ninety per cent sure is hand foot and mouth. How long do I need to keep him indoors and away from other kids. We are on day three of housebound now.

TheMemoryLingers · 16/02/2020 17:34

@Kelsterx You'd be best off starting a new thread for advice on this - there is a children's health topic here -

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childrens_health

Choose the option to start a new thread and include 'Hand foot and mouth' in the thread title. Hope your son is better soon!

magentastardust · 16/02/2020 20:31

I lurk on some threads and post on others..I love the wealth of help and knowledge from posters, you always know you will get an answer. I post quite a lot of the travel forums as its my passion and I like to try and be helpful to other posters.

MermaidinJeans · 16/02/2020 23:12

Also been a member for years as I used to be a #pblogger.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 17/02/2020 10:06

Thanks so much to everyone who has taken part in Lurkers Week and we hope you'll continue to post on the boards now you've come up from the cobwebby lurking basement.

We must say, It's been lovely to read about all the useful things you've learned from your fellow MNers and of course the support and advice you've received and seen on the boards. Flowers

We'll post again this week with details of the winners. Good luck Smile
