Regardless as to what happened to cause the physical restraint of these boys, it is clear that the force used was immeasurably beyond proportional. I really hope that the officers concerned get sacked and a a custodial sentence.
We always have issues in UK ports and airports and this certainly doesn't ease my concerns.

Yes I think that’s a fair comment, all context is important and for this incident that must also include institutionalised racism within the police.

Modern life inevitably means that there will always be ‘trail by social media’ it’s important to look at all views not just those that reaffirm our own beliefs.

Iasonnas · 28/07/2024 15:33

"I said that what the police did was wholly wrong"

Say it as much as you like, you're still wrong.

Do you mean men?

LoudSnoringDog · 28/07/2024 15:43

They are lucky this is the uk

In many other countries they would have probably been shot

Oh come on they were acting like twats, he wasn’t cuffed when he was on the floor and looked like he was getting up in the video, if someone had just punched you in the head over and over you’d want to make sure they weren’t getting up again wouldn’t you. They were extremely violent, one of them was punching women! How many men go around punching women, they were completely out of control.

Exactly! The police can use force in order to restrain a person who refuses to follow police officers instructions. This just keeps our society safe, how is it hard to comprehend that these protocols didn’t come out of nothing, but were implemented over the years of violence towards our police.

I’d just like to say that don’t do yourself a disservice by assuming you are a perpetrator rather than a law and order abiding citizen. What happened on Tuesday was down to police dealing with violence. I’m not Muslim but I’m Indian and have experienced racism. However, I’m also a civil and respectful person and those who are decent recognise and appreciate that. I hope you will be fine at airports. Every country has its issues but I’ve found England to be fair and moderate.

TheIronicWoman · 28/07/2024 07:52

It’s only in the UK that people think they can attack the police. In most other countries they would’ve been shot dead.

But here we are saying oh that poor man on the floor, after he and 2 others attacked female police officers.

The officer needs to be disciplined and trained in ways to better detain people. Those thugs though, they need to be jailed.

A sensible reply - thank you!

Paul2023 · 28/07/2024 17:21

What has the men’s response been though since the second video came out?

I’ve noticed they’ve all gone quiet now, including their solicitor .

If the police officer is charged, surely the men should be too?

I thought assaulting a police officer would mean a prison sentence.

They can’t just let him off because he was kicked in the head AFTER their behaviour.

Yes, agreed . The police here in the UK are actually quite liberal compared to many other countries, including in Europe.

Imaone doing this in South America, Russia or China. They literally kill people in those countries for attacking the police.

One of them tried to get to the police officers gun. He was lucky he wasn't shot dead. Especially at an airport.

Regardless of what action is taken against the police officer, that man needs to be prosecuted .

Imagine if he’d got hold of the gun.

Police (and others) can use approved techniques and essential use of force to de-escalate and control a situation. Kicking or stamping someone's head is not within that scope.

I've done training (including self-defence, hostage scenarios, etc) to work in prisons and similar settings, I've worked alongside police and prison officers and military forces, I've been involved in situations similar to the one on that video and worse. Not one person in those situations deemed it appropriate to kick or stamp someone in the head. It's unprofessional, to say the least.

People who assault the police and other emergency workers should face serious consequences, but those should be through the criminal justice system, not a boot to the head.

It takes a special kind of (rotting) balls to post this on the Muslim mumsnetters topic.

It’s on ‘trending’ so people may not be aware of which section this is in.
They were lucky not to be shot. I hope they are charged and serve prison time. Fighting in airports, assaulting police men and women, trying to get their weapons and resisting arrest are serious offences and not cancelled out by the officer’s violence.

Womblesgash · 28/07/2024 18:02

Not in that video but there are circumstances where kicking someone in the head could be justified. Someone with a weapon like a knife or gun intending to use it at that exact moment is one. Just like the Police being allowed to use lethal force to protect life. Every situation is different.

And a few people were arrested yesterday for attacking the police at a Tommy Robinson protest. What culture were they? Oh...wait.

GeraniumJenny · 28/07/2024 19:14

Misogynistic pieces of scum. I bet they wouldn’t have attacked large male police officers.

Also this was a vicious attack on a female police officer.

A few idiots at the Tommy Robinson events were arrested. Five out of thousands of people which was apparently peaceful other than the handful of arrests.

Don’t compare the this to the airport incident.

HE did attack male officers too

hattie43 · 28/07/2024 20:25

Those lads were out of control , I've never seen fighting like that over something so trivial . Luckily for them they live here , in America, China , Russia they'd be dead .

I thank god there are police willing to protect us the public from scum like that . That policeman was restrained , he controlled the end of that violent thugs behaviour so he could not hurt anyone else , if he was uncontrolled he would have rained licks on him not just once .
