And are you catching him on this tour?

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 08/07/2009 09:45

LOL smart kids! A great way to earn a bit of pocket money

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 08/07/2009 09:47

Oh Yes frumpy i have been to see him already at Hyde Park. He was fantastic. A 3 hour set, he rocked the place, opened up with London Calling.
Trying to convince DH we need to go again, but he is having none of it .

northender · 08/07/2009 09:57

I have to say that the band without Patti is soooooo much better. At Hyde Park there seemed to be much more banter and fun btween Steve, Nils and Bruce, what did you think pavlov? The Big Man is looking decidedly older and more immobile, sat down a lot and had people running round after him much more than usual. We were wondering how many more tours he will manage.

plumblossom · 08/07/2009 10:03

Oh I missed Patti at Hyde Park and she wasn't at the Emirates last year either, wonder what's up? Did you know Nils has had a double hip replacement, yea Clarence isn't looking too good is he, looks like he can barely walk.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 08/07/2009 10:12

Unfortunately I have not been to a concert of his before, so cannot say if better with or without Patti although would have liked to have seen her in the flesh -scowled-- at her a bit , but i am sure it would have annoyed me a little if they flirted all the time! but yes there was good banter, esp between Bruce and Steve, they are clearly good friends.

The Big Man has been poorly I think hasn't he? I loved the thrown they got for him to sit on, and Bruce seemed a little concerned at one point. But he did seem to get the odd bout of energy though didn't he?!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 08/07/2009 10:14

throne not thrown

I heard rumours they have split. Again. But some wise old sages on the train back to reading who clearly know him personally . I also read she had a horse riding accident earlier in the year? Could be as simple as that her children are taking exams at end of term? They seem to take priority, as they should.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 08/07/2009 10:17

here

plumblossom · 08/07/2009 10:20

Oh I hope they haven't split, I think they look good together- apparently she was in love with him for years before they got together. I've seen him three times now and he's just amazing.

northender · 08/07/2009 10:22

Tis definitely more relaxed and fun when she's not there. The last couple of concerts I saw last year it was noticeable that especially Steve seemed much more in the background. dh can't stand Patti (in the band, not personally!). He feels she is just there by virtue of marriage not talent.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 08/07/2009 12:26

I don't think they have split. He was wearing his wedding ring , the media like to dish the dirt where there is none, they are not happy if relationships withstand the test of time. Even if they are having a rocky time, there is just no point splitting now, after this long together and a family, its not like they are going to find true love like they had again any time soon is it? They are not too young any more and how would you know for sure they are not after your money/status when you are as famous as he is?

I mean, they are clutching at straws with the whole 'being named in a divorce' business aren't they? Really, the other husband named him, both parties deny it.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 08/07/2009 12:39

Just read this article on The Big Man, he has osteoarthritis, and he does not use any medication, uses meditation, pilates, fitness regime etc! He has had both hips and both knees replaced!

Bloody hell, no wonder he needed to sit down a little during the 3 hour gig!

frumpygrumpy · 08/07/2009 19:13

I've seen Bruce a few times and Clarence really doesn't look well at all. Did you see Glastonbury? It was like the pain was really getting to him as, and I hate to say it, his playing was pretty struggled. He's so needed, particularly on Thunder Road but, from Clarence, it was a struggled effort Compare to The Rising tour when he was dancing and smiling and really part of it. Shame. Massive shame! I think Patti holds a very respectful distance on tour. And she was there, in situ, before any romance started. It must be bloody hard to be in her position. I like her.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 09/07/2009 09:27

I am sorry, I cannot like anyone who wakes up next to such a fine backside most days .

I have loved bruce and his music ever since I was a little girl, and I loved the visible romance between him and Patti. And now I am an adult I love the fact that they are clearly protective about their private lives. But mostly I love his ass in jeans

I am so pleased I got to see them live, as the E-Street Band cannot be the E-Street Band without Clarence, and I am not sure if he will be able to do another year. I mean who knows, but just in case. I can now say I been to see them.

notyummy · 09/07/2009 09:48

The Rising
Thunder Road
The River

Plus, this weeks Grazia (I know, I know!) has a big article in it about how hot Bruce is. Basically saying that all the indie pretty boys at Glasto in skinny jeans were nowhere near as cool as him.

Grazia....who would have thought it!?

plumblossom · 09/07/2009 09:52

I kind of like the fact that Patti got Bruce over the supermodel (Jullianne Phillips). There can't be too many tours left in the band so I'm glad I've seen them too.

Spidermama · 09/07/2009 10:03

The River, in vinyl, played at 45 instead of 33. FANTASTIC! He sounds like a female country and western singer.

I used to mime to this in the bedroom mirror.

frumpygrumpy · 09/07/2009 17:24

Pavlov, I'm right there with you. Since I first heard Bruce when I was just little (I think I was about 10 when someone gave my mum a copy of The River) I have been hooked. And I'm not sure how many stadium tours they will continue to do, 3 in succession is more than most can do. Bruce on his own tour is amazing too though, he talks heaps and tells stories which he can't do in a stadium. I'm sure even if the band need a short break, he will continue to do his own stuff.

He's a legend. And I have always liked that he's not 'fashionable' to like. Long may that stay .......no Tom Jones roll outs pleeeeaaaaasssee!

Tinker · 10/07/2009 00:21

No-one's mentioned Danny Federici yet The E Street Band is already no more really. And I always loved 'I wanna marry you' (sentimental nonsense) as well and that was definitely better because of DF's, well, organ. Keyboards, keyboards is better.

frumpygrumpy · 10/07/2009 01:07

His son has been guesting a bit on this tour I think. Must be hard. Did you read the Q article? Bruce said they were one of the only bands going this long with all their original members and that when they did lose one, it was by causes of illness not any other thing like drugs or a fall out. He said they would stay in it for the long haul. I will if he will Wouldn't mind a bit long haul with him lol!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 10/07/2009 21:22

Yes, Danny, I forgot all about him, how bad is that .

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 10/07/2009 21:27

just found this his last concert

Tinker · 11/07/2009 14:00

Oh, that's poignant, has made me feel a bit emotional. They've called him Frederici though...

As ana aside, I idly looked up photos of Springsteen's kids after reading the story about them ebaying their parent's stuff - aren't they good-looking? Imagine being the mother of whoever Evan Springsteen goes out with??? Trying to contain thoughts that you could end up related to the Springsteens

purepurple · 11/07/2009 14:01

sorry, don't have one
don't like any of them
