Danni in Danni's House on CBBC has just sung The Elements as her audition piece for Grease. Now all my worlds have collided!

Good stuff, I'd never heard Tom Lehrer before. I'm guessing They Might Be Giants have though.

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/11/2008 13:16

oh I do like They Might Be Giants too !

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 03/11/2008 14:09

my goodness ! thank for that...it's great how one thing leads to loads of other stuff !

FrogPrincess · 03/11/2008 19:00

Wow, somebody mentioned PDQ Bach!!! Love his stuff (brought home by my brother about 25 years ago from a trip to the US). I haven't heard much Tom Lehrer yet but what I heard I loved (am putting a CD on my Christmas list I think...).
French speakers might want to listen to 'Les Freres Jacques' (firm favourites with my parents), very funny too.
And spanish speakers, how about 'Les Luthiers' (argentinian group, also hilarious) www.lesluthiers.com/pag1.htm

We seem to have a (lack of) sound problem on the 'puter at the moment, but will look at these links when that is fixed.

Anyone here keen on Dan Zanes? More great songs for children but not as (ahem) subversive as some of the TMBG titles suggest they might be.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 03/11/2008 19:03

Whoops! Should have begun by saying thank you.

MaryAnn - if it isn't presumptuous I have a couple of names for you next eyar. I have no idea why but they have been running through my tired little brain all night!

I give you, HairyHandStrangleton

and

SpinyAnnTingleton

Sorry

they are dreadful but if I didn't write them down I would be trying to spell them in my head all day

Btw Morticia was inspired!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/11/2008 09:31

flightattendant - thank you !! do you know, I lie in bed at night trying to think of a Christmas name, which is truly sad of me...

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 04/11/2008 09:38

Oh! Oh! Can we have a thread about The Monkees? I'm A Beleiver is one of my all time favourite songs.

Flightattendant4 · 04/11/2008 09:52

Oh, oh no I will be onto that now!! I think it is called 'displacement activity' lol
