Great song openings

I've just had my Spotify wrap of 2024 and my most listened to song is Too Shy by Kajagoogoo. Don't judge me!

The reason I listen to it a lot is the opening. I think it's a fab opening. Better than the rest of the song.

Which songs do you think have openings that are awesome and maybe overshadow the rest of the song?

Amy Grant - Sing praise to the Lord - superb opening intro

I've just looked that up - it's a Bach fugue - that's why it sounds good. Number 2 in C minor. I'll try to find a recording of it so you can hear the whole thing . (Amy Grant veers away from it.)

Thank you . I never knew that (and have had to look up what a fugue was). I love how in Any Grants version, it builds to a crescendo.
