Billboard show is on tonight, don't know when Madonna is on, towards the end?

oh I'm liking it destiny - mine is booked for Friday & I'm getting nervous now. I so almost had a symbol one done about 10 years ago & kept talking myself out of it. Wish I hadn't now! I had a flash back today of running down Oxford Street in about 1994 when he was Symbol & only appeared with his face covered up but was in HMV or somewhere doing some enforced promotion with Warner I think. We couldn't get in as there were about a million people outside but we were there! Does anyone else remember that?

destiny I'm going to try to have a small version of this on my left side sort of between my boob & back, rib area - will try to have outline in black then the paisley'ish bit in purple if I can. I think it's going to hurt!

Watching the Madonna Prince tribute, it's embarrassingly bad!

I think it goes to show that there is nobody even close to Prince in showmanship, performance perfection, vocal range, musicianship, damn downright horniness, etc. I didn't think it was so bad. She did let Prince be the star & not try to make it a Madonna show. She's definitely had a nose job as well.

Butter was it Virgin Megastore by any chance, in Oxford Street, near Tottenham Court Road? I was working there at the time, in the ticket office and I have vague memories of Prince in a mask being there. I didn't get very close but I did get a glimpse, I just wish I could remember it better!

Love the tattoo design, can't wait to see your pic, I'm still undecided about mine. I love Sheila E's so thinking maybe the symbol and something else with it.

Feeling sad again today, should be thinking about seeing him in concert not just tributes. All the music he never got to play, 57 is just far too young

PS I'm sure that tribute concert will be wonderful, just wish it wasn't this way :)

PPS I was really just thinking about the Madonna tribute not any live event which is much more of a celebration. I just don't like seeing these in memorial things for him. He's really really gone :(

Shb yes that must have been it. Does 1994 sound about right? I was working in London then near Covent Garden so would have run all the way. Lucky you working there!! I can't believe he's gone either. There's a woman in Minneapolis who is taking tributes to the Paisley park fence on behalf of people who can't go. I'm loving that. Did you see the link? Was it here??

The BET tweet is brilliant. Hopefully they'll do a better job of a tribute. Loving all of the gifs floating around of Prince side-eyeing Madonna's performance too.
Sorry it's hitting you all over again nikki. It's easy to get lost in enjoying rediscovering the music and performance clips, but then the tributes come along and make it all very real again don't they? I must admit I'm dreading the cause of death announcement. It must be due soon and I get a knot in my stomach whenever the news comes on. Don't want to start thinking about that again. We're so lucky to have this thread to support each other.

Can't wait to see your tattoo butter, sounds like it will be lovely, brave not telling the DH though!

Nikki I think the tributes are a weird one - damned if you do and damned if you don't... no one will EVER match up to Prince, but it's right to respect his memory at these awards dos, guess Madonna did her best, she's no spring chicken herself, and apparently they were pretty close in the 80s and met up again recently so I guess she was quite chocked up, though the BET awards does sound like a much better line up..

Butter yes 1994 sounds about right, i worked at Virgin from 1991 till 1995. I just wish I could remember it better, my memory is terrible!
Nikki I know how you feel, I'm loving listening to all his music and it makes me so happy sometimes, and watching him perform makes me laugh sometimes too cos he could be so cheeky. Then I watched Madonna and even tho it was pretty awful it set me off crying again cos it's such a shame he was so young and still had so much more to give.

I have got a record player so maybe I should buy all the albums that are available on vinyl. I've already got For You, Prince, Controversy and Sign of The Times but some of them are a bit jumpy. For some reason I don't have Dirty Mind, just got it on cassette, I must have borrowed someone's record and taped it. Do they still have records in HMV, it would be nice to browse like the good old days not just get them off Amazon.
