Oh God, I can barely tear my eyes away from that gif Coco!

Destinysdaughter · 30/04/2016 22:25

HRH in the early eighties there was such a huge amount of amazing innovative music. And then sadly it changed to that Stock Airken Waterhouse crap and lots of pale imitators of what had come before. It was heartbreaking and frustrating to witness. Prince was like an Oasis in the wilderness during that time!

Ok I've thought about this and what I'm going to do is start a thread in the Music section on MN, it's not much visited but I'll post some of my fave eighties stuff on there so you and other pp can listen to it. There's lots of YouTube stuff I can access. When I've started it

Just read this, brilliant interview in 2014 where he talks about how happy he was with his new band and how being on stage set him free and he felt 'out of his body'which is a real comfort to me when they has been so much talk about how much pain he was in at this time m.essence.com/2016/04/21/prince-interview-cover-story-essence-archives-june-2014

Dornish - where is the prince tribute in Islington? That's close to me so I'd be up for that Smile think the idea of setting up a Facebook group is good if we're all on fb? Also there is a beautiful price mural in Turnpike Lane www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/design/a-london-street-artist-has-paid-tribute-to-prince-in-turnpike-lane-a3232751.html

Helen Mirren was wearing purple last night, I wondered whether it was a tribute to prince and she has a little symbol tattoo too.

I won't link it because it's DM.

She looks amazing too

Casey24 · 01/05/2016 08:40

Yes I saw Helen mirren too Smile how cute does she look?! always liked her, love her now! Could have guessed she'd be a prince fan, always looks gorgeous...

Ok I have to admit I actually don't like purple Shock it was my school uniform colour (prince would have love it!) and so when I left I swore I wouldn't wear it again! Although this could be the only exception - Hmm so that's why I'm kinda trying to rock a glam look in his honour, though I'm out with the kids all day today so trainers it is! So let me get the details on that prince night and see if I'm around because then I would definitely have an excuse to put my heels on!

Was at a friends 40th last night - had a tearful group singalong to purple rain, also introduced them all to some Prince they didn't know. Watched sign o the the times when we were getting dressed (it's on sky arts st the moment) - he was just mesmerising, I don't know exactly what it is but he has got something on the stage that no one else has.

Just realised I said "has" in that last sentence - I mean "had" Sad

FB group sounds like an idea. Interested in any events.

ComputerBlue · 01/05/2016 11:01

Helen Mirren, what a legend! No way I can do a meet up at the moment folks but I really hope you all make it happen and have a great time!

cosytoaster · 01/05/2016 11:35
