Here we are, a week after Prince suddenly passed away. This is a thread to grieve, share your memories, thoughts, stories, videos and songs.

I had seen a v short gif clip of him undoing his trousers and wondered where on earth it came from - lovely to see the whole thing!!

Of course my gay friends love this. I keep telling them he wasn't remotely gay but they aren't having any of it!

I do not or never get a prince gay vibe.
In fact, he's so far round that circle that he touches the other side!

What I mean is he's such a man that he's not afraid to be seen as feminine or effeminate. Manly effeminate!

Such a good article destiny really summed up how we've all been feeling I think, I for one have found the past month a real awakening, I'm even thinking of starting my own business, even just on a small scale, something I've always wanted to do, an a real renewed interest in music, which has been lovely :-)

What do people think about Madonna doing the Prince tribute at the Billboard awards? Apparently there's a petition against it! I feel a bit I know they did Lovesong, but there's lots of artists out there, particularly black artists, with more of a connection to Prince and his music, but apparently it's just going to be Madonna. Also, she does tend to make everything about her! I do hope there'll at least be a video compilation to remind people of just how wonderful he was ...

Wonderful article Destiny I hadn't cried for a few days but that set me off again! Particularly love this bit:

I'm not convinced about Madonna doing the tribute I have to say - I loved her as a pop star back in the 80s but I just don't think she's got the greatest voice...not sure she's up to the challenge tbh and I'm sure there are plenty of other singers the Purple One himself would have chosen ahead of her (I mean, how did they pick her? Were they just looking for someone famous roughly the same age as P?!!)

Agree he loved supporting new artists, would have been great to see someone like Delilah or kendrick Lamar who he was mentoring before he died, not even sure he liked Madonna much - what happened between them anyway?

Dentiny. That is a beautiful article. So perfectly put. It exactly sums up how I (& probably all of us) am feeling. He was so totally unique, as we all are, but not afraid to be true to himself (as many of us are!) & that uniqueness & be generous with that amazing talent. How sad that he won't see all of these amazing tributes to him, how deeply people have been affected by his death & how most of the world lit up purple.i haven't told you all this yet, I had a good friend of mine die very suddenly the day before my birthday late last year & her funeral was the week before Christmas & she loved purple & was as big a Prince fan as me. We all wore purple to her funeral & her coffin was carried out of the church to Purple Rain. It was awful. She was very full of life, was true to herself (she was lovely bonkers) & lit up everywhere she went. So the loss of Prince has compounded the grief of loosing her as well. I think how she would have reacted to the news of Prince dying. This isn't about me, but that feeling of losing that trail of moon magic. She had a bit of that magic. I'm not religious but I'd like to think that they are having a fine old time together. I'm not comparing the loss of a close friend to the loss of someone I didn't know but as the article says, we aren't in control of how we grieve. I think the loss of both of them so close together has made me more determined to say no to stuff I don't want to do & yes to stuff I do. And be happier & a bit more spontaneous. And try to Instil that 'be unique'ness into my kids. And get a prince tattoo & wear purple more! I'll stop now.

I think Madonna is a bad choice. I think she'll make it completely about herself one way or another. She hasn't got the strongest voice either. I hope someone thinks that soon...

Wow butter thank you for sharing that, I hope you have found this thread a support for everything you're going through. Revisiting all the prince memories must be all the more bitter sweet when you don't have your friend to share them with, you just never know when it's your time, but I do truly believe there is more to this life, not just from a religious perspective, it just doesn't make sense to me otherwise, why does music and art affect us so deeply? It's not necessary for survival, so we can't have evolved that way, I think it's because it lifts our souls and connects us just a little bit to heaven, that some people are put on this earth to do just that - Marvin Gaye, John Lennon & Prince, all used music to deliver a message in the most beautiful way, before they were taken too soon, like they say the lights that burn the brightest also burn the shortest X

Butter, my best friend died 3 and a half years ago and she was lovely bonkers too. She was only 39 and was so full of life. I can imagine her partying with Prince and your friend up there. That's such a good attitude, to say no to stuff you don't wanna do and yes to stuff you do wanna do, I try to live like that as my friend would want me to. And let me know when you've decided which tattoo to get, I'm still undecided about mine. And where can I get some nice purple underwear? Doesnt seem to be much about!
