I'm 48. Anne, I just searched Prince on demand to see what else was there and it came up with Sign of theTimes.

Downloading it now! Thanks all.

I'm 50, so a bit older than some of U!

Have been reflecting on how much I was influenced by Prince as a teen and young adult. I loved his individuality and uniqueness, his sense of style and his sensuality. I've always been a bit of a flamboyant dresser and some of that definitely came from him!

So glad to have found this thread. I'm 39 and fell in love with Prince when I was about 15 - Cream/Gett Off era - and promptly tracked down his back catalogue and played Dirty Mind, Purple Rain and Sign o the Times on repeat. I honestly thought he'd go on forever somehow, he was so ageless. I only saw him live once - his o2 gigs - but it was amazing.

Nikki I totally agree with your comments about creativity and personal freedom, I've found myself thinking 'what would Prince have done?' recently!

Did my nails as a mini tribute

It was a great time for music Dornish. I wished I was a bit older so I could go to the Blitz club in London and hang out with all the cool New Romantics instead of being stuck in a dull provincial town!

Thank you. I used the Models Own nail art pens to doodle the love symbol (would have loved the whole nail art trend at 15 although I think I still bit my nails then!)

Destinysdaughter · 29/04/2016 23:49

These are my nails normally. They badly need re doing right now. Blush

Thanks for the inspiration Vanessa!

I'm a bit drained now tbh through crying and crying this week. I watched the Black Sweat video again!!... God he's sexy!!... on my iPad earlier and DH had that James Nesbit play on pause that was on at 9, he was waiting for me to finish watching Black sweat so he could press play!! Then I just started sobbing again and he said 'what's wrong?' It's like we'd never met!! He knows What's wrong!! I've been quite clearly devastated all week and he know full well why!!
I met DH in 85 and I've loved Prince since 82....!!!
The Jacko thing gets to me aswell, I never got him atall!! He could dance and had a shrill voice... AND?? Prince was an absolute bloody genius... the two cant even be compared!!
Oh I've had wine, I'm going to bed before I start bawling again.
Love the nails by the way!! Destiny your hands are beautiful!!
Night everyone

This is an hour's worth of stuff that is unfinished and unreleased. Some of it is a bit rough and ready obvs, but is still hugely inventive. Makes for a fascinating listen😈

Don't know how long stuff like this will be allowed to stay up so if you're interested I'd check it out sooner rather than later...

Loving the nails :) I knew there would be some glamorous ladies on this thread! To appreciate Prince is to appreciate the need for a bit of glamour in everyday life ;) if this experience has taught me anything it's that I'm not going to become frumpy just because I'm a mum now, which is kinda what I've been thinking lately, im going to wear heels when I want to, always have my nails done and to reference what someone else said earlier think 'what would prince do' and try to make him proud at least on some small level and take time out for myself and see more live music...dh seems to think I'm having a bit of a mid life crisis as I'm 40 this year, but so what if I am ?! I still feel the same as I did at 25..and he's been playing all his favourite music this morning as well - stone roses and oasis, so I might not be the only one!

cosytoaster · 30/04/2016 08:48

I posted on the first page of the first thread but have been lurking on that and this one since and just wanted to thank everyone for the pics and links - I had a bitter sweet time catching up with them last night . I'm 50 and Prince's music was the background to my youth. He was an amazing musician, dancer and person.

Destinysdaughter · 30/04/2016 09:12

Casey - yes to glamour! I went out to lunch with a friend last Sunday, was just the local pub but I made an effort to dress up a bit more than normal and wear some lovely shoes with heels that I'd bought in France and hardly worn. Prince was just such a great example of being true to yourself!

And Cosy, welcome back!

Yep he showed how you can be feminine whilst still being a strong independent woman - not surprising he was such an inspiration to Mel b, gwen Stefani, kylie minogue to name but a few...
