Hmm, interesting and bizarre sounding theory. Satanism in music.

I randomly stumbled across someone discussing this on here so I did alot of research and the findings have actually been quite shocking, it would seem tha a lot of celebs beyonce rhianna and jay z all seem to openly worship, from their hand gestures to what they wear etc.

I am fully aware this sounds totally bizarre and I assure you I am not insane, but have a Google and post your feed back. (can't do links as I'm on mobile) :)

I see, so it is a mental illness, a pathology not to to agree with babyheave and presumably Gordon Brown's handling of the economy and his dire repeated warnings about "climate catastrophe"? The old satanists and KGB are really spreading their influence.

NormanTebbit · 20/03/2011 16:39

I think psychology and psychiatry usually have more to back up a diagnosis than a belief that Rhianna is plotting world domination.

There are diagnostic criteria, physiological assessments etc

Although the point that someone's understanding of their reality can be entirely logical - the paranoia example - is valid, I reckon.

alistron1 · 20/03/2011 16:40

As Tina Turner might say claig 'What's the KGB got to with it?'

alistron1 · 20/03/2011 16:41

to do of course...doh!!!

claig · 20/03/2011 16:42

The KGB used to send dissidents who didn't agree with their communist philosophy to mental institutes. They all had white coats and letters behind their name, these charlatans they called doctors.

alistron1 · 20/03/2011 16:45

There is a big leap from political dissidence and oppression by 'the man' to thinking that people who believe in this satanism/pop music nonsense are delusional.

You are extrapolating to infinity claig

I don't think so. It is a way of saying we are mad, mentally ill, if we recognise that they are making satanic signs in their videos, when they are plain in our faces. When the angels are sporting the devil's horns before our very eyes. But we are delusional, apparently.

fartythepenguin · 20/03/2011 16:49

Well I heard that there was this well rad guitar pick that's made from Satan's tooth or some shit. Whoever uses it kicks ass BIG TIME dude! But Satan is one mad cat and its trying to get it back so he can be, like, complete again yeah? And he is Dave Grohl in furry trousers, sweeeettt! Wink

colditz · 20/03/2011 16:50

It's not a case of not being agreed with, it's a case of having no hard evidence whatsoever to back up the claims you're making. There is no evidence that these people are satanists and that this is impacting upon anyone but themselves.

They are entitled to worship whoever they believe satan to be, they are not entitled to break the law whilst doing so. Likewise, you are entitled to believe them to be satanists, but you are not entitled to slam a crucifix in to their chests.

people are allowed to hold any beliefs they wis to, but really if you have no evidence for these beliefs, you shouldn't be surprised if people are skeptical.

Maybe they are making 'satanic' signs - personally though, I think those who seek horses will find horseshoes on ants. But why should we care if they are making 'satanic' signs? They are meaningless.

colditz · 20/03/2011 16:53

But jayz could be a complete prick with or without satanic signs, it's not the signs making him be a tosser, it's him.

The evidence suggests that JayZ is a twat. But the evidence does not suggest that the devil is making him do it, regardless of what he himself may believe.

This is classic The Emperor's Clothes territory. We are saying, look these videos are full of satanic symbolism, and babyheave and others are saying "no, it's nothing of the sort, you're imagining it".

"But what are those horns on their heads?" "Horns, I see no horns, you must be deluded".

"But what about that elephant in the room?" "What elephant, have you been wacthing that old movie "Harvey"?"

BeerTricks, it is a cultural phenomenon, but look at the Kanye West video "Power". It is full of that type of symbolism. It is obvious and it was obviously put there on purpose. Millions of people on youtube know about it and discuss it. The real question is what is its significance? Is there any significance to it or is it harmless? What messages are they giving out? What effect are they trying to create? Why are they doing it?

It is obvious they are doing it. The question is why?

LetThereBeRock · 20/03/2011 17:02

And some of us are saying,so what if some artists use satanic symbols. What of it? Your average Satanist is no scarier,or more disturbing to me,perhaps even less so, than those who follow your God,Claig.

bigbeagleeyes · 20/03/2011 17:02

Harvey was a giant rabbit, not an elephant so if you saw an elephant you would be deluded.
This thread is getting quite surreal.

LetThereBeRock · 20/03/2011 17:04

What do you mean 'getting' surreal?Grin

colditz · 20/03/2011 17:04

I agree with you that this is classic Emporer's new CLothes, but I think it is manifesting differently

"It's only a hand shape, and regardless of what he means by it, it's not causing any actual harm" - "No, it means that there is a world wide consiricy of the music industry to promote Satanism!"

"But these performers are ridiculous creatures and everyone knows it" - "That's what They want you to think. It says in the bible that Satan was the minister of music"

"But that doesn't mean it's really real, that just means that some silly celebrities are being silly with their own personal religion, it doesn't mean the world is going to end" - "YOu're ignorant, and ignoring the evidence which is plain to see"

"But that's the point, I don't see any evidence" - "Because you're ignoring it"

I happen to think that the Emporer's new clothes is an apt analogy - I just think that the Satanism-as-effective-evil-force is the clothes. And I can't see them because they aren't there.
