5 alive want to find out what you do during your 'me' time - if you're lucky enough to get any!

By 'me' time, we mean time to yourself away from children, partner or work, when you can let loose and have some fun. It doesn't matter if you don't get much 'me' time; we still want to know what you think. The survey is open to all Mumsnetters.

Please take a few minutes to complete this survey and enter your details for a chance to win a £250 John Lewis voucher.

AND, for another chance to enter the prize draw, please tell us all on this thread what you get up to in your 'me' time, whether it's playing air guitar to the radio, or going out for a muddy bike ride - you can 'fess up here .

Thanks and good luck
MNHQ

I like to read a book in a hot bath with bubbles and no toys or children floating around in it. Candles, wine, music, no interuptions. Bliss.

Katisha · 22/04/2010 19:15

I suspect 5 alive will be looking for "kooky" mothers who fit their image of women in tampon ads all spinning about and dancing. They might also approve of "pampering" type things (boak).
But they most definitely won't be interested in those of us who just muddle through the day boringly and unwackily.

NowWhatIsit · 22/04/2010 19:37

Bath read bed

TheKiss1970 · 22/04/2010 19:49

My me-time is spent catching up folding the socks while drinking wine. If I'm really lucky I get half an hour reading in bed before what seems like no sleepat allbefore the alarm goes off. I have enroled in Pilates a squillion times but yet have to make it to 1 class

Wigeon · 22/04/2010 20:00

Another one who agrees it's a stupid survey, pitched completely wrong for the audience. And I would like to recommend whomovedmychocolate for a senior position at 5Alive.

I am however greedy so I have filled in the survey in the hope of winning the vouchers!

notnowbernard · 22/04/2010 20:04

I love having a lie in

Love it if the DC are out overnight. I look forward to the lie-in more than the night out itself. I sometimes moderate the amount of alcohol I intake so as not to mar the lie-in experience

GladioliBuckets · 22/04/2010 20:04

So if you won the prize and they asked you to star in their new 'zany' mum me-time themed ad campaign, would you? Could you ever face going back on MN again?

mummyofexcitedprincesses · 22/04/2010 20:08

I just want some vouchers.

llynnnn · 22/04/2010 20:25

i love lying on the bed just listening to the peace and quiet! (def no singing/dancing here!) also read trashy books/magazines.

only do quiet activities in 'me time'!! far too much noise the rest of the day!!

shazrazzle · 22/04/2010 20:31

ME TIME-just relaxing with a hot cup of tea after the kids have gone to bed actually being able to hear and watch the tv bliss

whomovedmychocolate · 22/04/2010 21:05

Doodleydoo · 22/04/2010 21:14

Catch up on Sky plus - current favourites = Flash Forward, Heroes, NCIS and CSI of all forms!

And obviously I practice my loo cleaning skills and how to wind up my dh

Katisha · 22/04/2010 21:18

OOh hang on I have just realised what the voucher-winning answer is.

OK

On a Me Day I do the following :

Arise fragrantly and make myself an omelette Arnold Bennett. Which I do not wash up.

Then I swan off around some cheese shops for the morning.

Upon my return I make myself a very complicated lunch involving bruschetta and rocket leaves, shaved fennel, etc. Which I don't wash up either.

Then I take myself off round the vintage shops to buy myself a memento of my day - eg an antique cocktail shaker.

Back at home I make myself some peanut butter fudge and then get on with making my dinner which is halibut and wild mushrooms followed by chocolate pots with cherry brandy. I swig martinis which I have cocktail shook in my cocktail shaker.

No washing up involved! At all.

I love to just veg out on the sofa once the kids are in bed- tis bliss! That's enough for my me time to make me happy

whomovedmychocolate · 22/04/2010 21:31

Wigeon why thank you - I am happy to consult on a variety of matters related to mumsnet for a remarkably small fee.

victoria48 · 22/04/2010 21:34

Me me time involves a bubbly bath and a book.

whomovedmychocolate · 22/04/2010 21:45

I really want to see the survey results though - just to check you aren't all really closet karaoke fiends and think you are living in a Tampax advert.

Actually, let's get Kerry Katona to fill it in!!!!

GreaterFence · 22/04/2010 21:47

My "me" time consists totally mostly of MN and chocolate

squeaver · 22/04/2010 21:55

I think you might just find that the winning response is something along the lines of "my me time is best spent enjoying a fruit based drink fortified with vitamins and minerals"

[cynical]

BeatrixRotter · 22/04/2010 21:56

Sleep in, read magazines. Just being able to drink coffee and eat food uninterupted and in peace.

SammyFace · 22/04/2010 21:57

Do some gardening then, if the sun is shining have a little snooze on the grass.

whomovedmychocolate · 22/04/2010 21:58

Or 'I sparkle with 5 alive goodness during my me time'

squeaver · 22/04/2010 22:00

whomovedmychocolate · 22/04/2010 22:02
