Hi all

This is the meeting point for the feedback session with Dyson's engineers on Monday March 10th at 1pm. We hope everyone who has been testing a new Dyson will join us. If for any reason you can't make it please feel free to post your feedback in advance (and send the absence note from your mum to MNHQ ) but we're really hoping for an interactive discussion session, so we hope as many as possible of you will be there on the day.

Thanks!

Scoobydysondoo,

To help cleaning your car you can unclip the hose from the wand on the DC25 then put the tools straight into the hose. Extend the wand then press the clip on the back of the hose at the top to remove it from the tube. Your tools will then clip into the end of the hose.

But also with the hose bit surly it is to do with how tall you are is well because you hold it by the handle bit so surly you can only reach as far as your arm will go & hight must come into this or am i going mad? talking about the DC25 by the way.

Camilla thanks for answering

My best friend has a wet one {B***L} and I thought OOOOOh I would love a wet Dyson - but perhaps not

I can be safe in the knowledge that my lovely DYSON gets dust mites out of the carpet and doesn't let them breed

did anyone test the handheld ones?

if not do you need anyone to?

soapbox · 10/03/2008 13:38

Now you see Ben/Tom - that was one of the tips that a proper set of instructions might have helped with

ScoobyDYSONDoo · 10/03/2008 13:38

Ah see i knew i should have read those instructions, dp did clean his car at the weekend but to be honest i never asked him how he got on Thanks for that info.

misdee · 10/03/2008 13:39

sorry i am latye here, have had connection problems all day.

i have the DC22 little cylinder.

  1. How did you find the out-of-the box experience and assembling the machine?
Pretty good and simple. I did find the amount of packaging a bit of a problem, but then i like things minimal (ie i just told dh off for buying an easter egg i na box with tonnes of packaging)
  1. Did you use the instruction manual?
I briefly looked at it, as have had a cyclinder before, have had uprights, my old vacumn was DC04 which is v v v old.
  1. How did you find the following:
a. Bin emptying. EASY! I DID HAVE A BIT OF A PROBLEM WITH DUST COLLECTING NEAR THE TOP OF THE CYCLINDER, EVEN WHEN NOT EVEN HALFWAY FULL AND FALLING BACK OUT WHEN I UNHOOKED IT BUT SOMEHOW IT HAS RESOLVED ITSELF. b. Attachments: did you use them? YES, HAVE USED THEM ALL. MY HOUSE HAS NEVER BEEN SO CLEAN, BUT I HAVE LEFT SIDNEY THE SPIDERS WEB SLONE IN ONE CORNER AS HE IS GOOD AT CATCHING FLIES. c. Filters: locate them OK? YES d. Manoeuvrability: get around furniture? sO SO EASY TO MANOVRE, HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET INTO ALL THE ROOMS, WHICH IS GREAT AS OLD DC04 WAS TOO BIG TO GET INTO SOME PALCES SO HAD BEEN USING DUSTPAN AND BRUSH. e. Cleaning stairs? NO STAIRS HERE.
  1. How does it compare to your current machine? VERY GOOD.
  1. Where did you store your machine? If possible: can you send a picture of your Dyson in its new home? THE PLAN IS FOR IT TO HAVE A SHELF IN THE LAUNDRY CUPBOARD, HOWEVER THAT SHELF IS CURRENTLY STORING PRESENTS ETC.
  1. Best thing? SO EASY TO USE. LOVE THE DESIGN AND HOW EASY IT IS TO PUT AWAY AND STORE. (I DID try it in the cupboard
  1. Anything that you would change? Longer lead needed please
  1. One addition you would make if you were a Dyson engineer? option to purchase a motorised head if possible for this one. i know i could've had the animal version with the motorised head, but then would've lost the all-flat head which i love and is fantastic on the wood floors.
BenDyson · 10/03/2008 13:39

woops, getting a little over excited

tom

BenDyson · 10/03/2008 13:39

Soapbox:
It's a good point about the pull back of the hose. It's partly to do with the fact that the high suction tries to pull the hose back but also because we have to make the hoses as robust as possible. We design them to last for at least 5 years and they usually see quite a lot of stretching in their lifetime!
I'll feedback to the design teams.

Soapbox: I will pass your feedback onto the graphics team who write the instruction manuals!!

RTKangaDYSONMummy · 10/03/2008 13:41

Please can you do something about the design of the red sticky bits on the attacthments

Cos they come off ~ well on the DC15 so I presume they will on the DC25

can you make them more substansial

soapbox · 10/03/2008 13:42

Camilla - did you mean to say 'draw' the instructions

As you can tell, I am being pretty picky but feel that you need to get comprehensive feedback, or your investment in us all is rather wasted!

ScoobyDYSONDoo · 10/03/2008 13:42

Ah right i see Lapin

wannaBe · 10/03/2008 13:43

was looking at the handhelds on the dyson site over the weekend . the animal one would just be so fab on my stairs.

FAQ · 10/03/2008 13:43

yes I'm with Soapbox - having not actually been able to go and see the DC23 demonstrated to me before I got it it took me a while to figure out how to get the hose etc on....tried using the instructions, but while the graphics were very good I didn't find them at all helpful. A few words can help people that can't follow the picture instructions so well.

SparklyGothKat · 10/03/2008 13:43

I want a handheld for my car!

BenDyson · 10/03/2008 13:43

sparklygothkat,

Regarding getting the machine onto a rug. It is something we are looking into at the moment so thanks for re-confirming the need. One way to help is to actually turn around and reverse onto the rug, not ideal but helps i hope.

tom.

BenDyson · 10/03/2008 13:44

RTKanga:
Yep, that's a good one. We've got someone looking into that at the moment. I'll make sure he gets your feedback.
Thanks.

RTKangaDYSONMummy · 10/03/2008 13:44

they are on DC25 the flat attactment they are sort of velco feeling

After a while they peel off

CamillaDyson · 10/03/2008 13:44

LOL soapbox...!
