This is the feedback thread for the 120 Mumsnet users who have a child aged 3 months to 6 years who suffers with dry, rough skin or nappy rash and have been testing La Roche-Posay Circaplast Balm B5. Cicaplast Balm B5 is a multi-purpose repairing balm that soothes, restores and protects babys’ delicate skin.

Here’s what La Roche-Posay has to say: “We are excited for Mumsnetters to try Cicaplast Balm B5, our multi-purpose repairing balm for delicate, irritated skin. We know babies’ skin and bottoms can be very sensitive and are often subject to irritation and redness such as nappy rash. Selected testers were sent 2 x 40ml tubes of Cicaplast Balm and were asked to use it with their child for dry, rough skin flare-ups or for treating nappy rash for a month.

1. How did you find the texture and application of the Cicaplast B5 Multi-Purpose Repairing Balm?
This balm is non-sticky and easy to apply. It is scent-free, absorbs quickly and leaves no greasy film. Skin feels nicely moisturised afterwards.

I saw an overnight improvement in my child's rough and scaly skin above her hips, that had been causing her itchiness and discomfort.

She has no more rough skin, so I would say that I did!

5. Would you recommend Cicaplast B5 Multi-Purpose Repairing Balm to a friend and why?
Finding over the counter products that do exactly what they say on the tin can be a matter of trial and error, so I would happily take the workload out of this process for friends by recommending Cicaplast B5 Multi-Purpose Repairing Balm. My daughter's rough skin had perhaps not been bad enough to warrant a trip to the doctor, and in the past we have been given enormous tubs of emollients from GPs when in fact we only needed a smaller tube like this one. The additional bonus of this balm is that it is helping to soothe all of our chapped hands after all the extra washing they are getting right now.

Yes, used on nappy rash as an alternative to our usual Sudacrem and it healed the skin nicely and took away redness after a couple of applications.

I found the balm was light and not greasy or sticky. It doesn’t have a strong smell. It was easy to apply, we didn’t have to use a lot because it rubbed in well and was absorbed quickly.

Yes it has improved a lot. My son had dry skin on his arms, legs, back and front / stomach. This balm has made such a big difference even in a short time.

1. How quickly after starting to use Cicaplast B5 Multi-Purpose Repairing Balm did you notice an improvement in your child’s skin condition?

We noticed an improvement within 2-3 days. I am confident that with continued use the balm will continue to make a difference and improve my sons skin even more.

Yes. There has been a massive improvement in my sons skin since we have been using this balm. He has suffered with dry skin on his arms, legs, back and front / stomach from a young age. Doctors refused to prescribe anything as they said it wasn’t bad enough, and we have tried many other products to try and improve his skin, none of which ever helped or worked. This product has reduced how dry his skin is and leaves it feeling soft and moisturised, instead of dry and rough.

1. Would you recommend Cicaplast B5 Multi-Purpose Repairing Balm to a friend and why?

I would definitely recommend this balm to anyone because it is the only product I have found that has actually worked and made a considerable difference and improvement to my sons dry skin. We will be continuing to use this product for as long as we need to, and will always make sure we have some at home in the future.
My husband and I both also have some dry skin. Now the trial is over, as we have some balm left we plan to try it on ourselves as well. We are certain it will help us as much as it has helped our son.
