This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnet users who tried the new Kinder Ice Cream Stick and the Kinder Ice Cream Sandwich with their families.

Here’s what Kinder Ice Cream has to say: “KINDER Ice Cream Stick and KINDER Ice Cream Sandwich are all 100 calories or less and made with fresh milk. First of all i want to say thank you for picking me to be a tester. I am on a super tight budget and it was nice to be able to treat my dc.
I haven't been able to find any of the sandwiches sadly. My local tesco only had the Bueno cones and an Asda Superstore in a city I visited only had the cones and the sticks.

Sorry I wouldn't choose these due to the price. I'm on a small shopping budget and £3.50 for these would just be too much.

I probably wouldn't no. Due to them not really being worth the price.

If Kinder Ice Cream was launching a new product, what would you like it to be?
Maybe something with those little balls in that they have in the Kinder Joy eggs.

We couldn't find the ice cream sandwiches in any of our local supermarkets and I even had to drive 8 miles to find the sticks!

Everybody in our household enjoyed the sticks, we thought the chocolate tasted just like kinder chocolate but I thought the ice cream bit just tasted like a mini milk.

I think they are very good value as you get 10 for £3.50 so 35p each is a good price but as a bargain hunter I would probably only buy them again if they were on offer.

I would recommend them to friends and family because they do taste lovely but I still feel they aren't much different from a mini milk.

The 8 year olds said they tasted like milk. They weren’t overly impressed. I really liked the portion size and thought they were good value at 10 for £3.50. The littler children were happy enough with them. Although all the chocolate fell off which they found disappointing. Understandably!

I couldn’t find these anywhere. I tried several supermarkets including Asda quite far away. I spent the voucher on bueno ones in the end which my 8 year old loved, but my 4 year old found too big. These are less good value for money.

I would, for the portion size, but my 8 year old is unlikely to go for it.

For small children, absolutely. Good value and nice size.

Like a pp, something a little more appealing for the 8-12 year olds.

We enjoyed them although I can't comment what the sandwich was like.

We all really liked the chocolate coating I was particularly impressed with it's flavor far better than a lot of chocolate on ice creams. Although my son would've preferred the chocolate to cover the whole ice cream! I found the ice cream part slightly icy and not as creamy as I might've expected.

Yes I liked that it wasn't too big and the calorie content is low which appeals to me as a parent.

• Would you recommend Kinder Ice Cream to friends or family? Please explain why or why not. Yes I would particularly if you're looking for a low calorie frozen treat. Although I do feel it is quite expensive for what it is so would probably only buy when on offer.

My daughter said a chocolate kinder egg filled with ice cream.

I haven't been able to use my vouchers yet, as when I finally found the ice creams, I was away, and didn't have the vouchers with me

My child and I really liked them.

My son liked the chocolate coating. He wanted more of the chocolate actually. And the ice cream which he said tasted just like Kinder Eggs.

My son loved the sandwich and the combination of flavours. No dislikes

Yes. I would now I've tasted them. And they are a good size for children

I'd certainly say to try them, as I have for this trial. I think if people like Kinder, they should try them out

A tub of ice cream, like a Ben & Jerry's tub, with chunks of Kinder chocolate in perhaps

Overall, how satisfied were you and your child with Kinder Ice Cream? Children tried a lolly each but didn’t want any more from the pack. I thought they were tasty; a slightly fancier mini milk, I guess! We couldn’t find the ice cream sandwiches so weren’t able to try them. We did get a pack of the Bueno cones which my DH and I both thought were very nice but our DD4 and DD7 found far too rich.

What did you like or dislike about Kinder Ice Cream Stick? What did your child like or dislike? Liked the combination of ice cream and chocolate. They did melt quickly in this heat and were a bit messy. We all thought they could taste more ‘Kinder’.

What did you like or dislike about Kinder Ice Cream Sandwich? What did your child like or dislike? We didn’t like how they were not stocked anywhere in our reasonably-sized city.

Would you choose Kinder Ice Cream as a treat for you or your children over other similar treats? Please explain why or why not Not for our own children because they didn’t like them that much, sadly. I don’t think there was enough of a point of difference to make us choose them over similar (and cheaper) alternatives. They did not have enough of the Kinder chocolate flavour to them.

Would you recommend Kinder Ice Cream to friends or family? Please explain why or why not. I would recommend the Bueno comes to anybody who loves the Bueno bars or Nutella! I think the lollies were fine but just not anything special, and sadly the ice cream sandwiches were not stocked in any of the three supermarkets we visited.

If Kinder Ice Cream was launching a new product, what would you like it to be? Choc ices with a more authentic Kinder taste, maybe, or some sort of lolly/cone that incorporates the surprise element of Kinder eggs.

My ds's liked the kinder ice cream sticks, they were not keen on the sandwiches.

Both me and my children thought there should be more chocolate - you could not tell they were supposed to be Kinder. I thought they were expensive for what they were.

Children did not like them, my dh who will eat anything, took a couple of bites and put it in the bin. Very bland and the biscuit was soggy. Also very expensive for 6 .

Only if they were much cheaper.

No because they were really nothing special.

Something more kinder-y! Kinder is quite distinctive and these ice creams were a bit boring.

I liked that they were small - I only give my kids mini ice creams and ice lollies as feel full sized are too big. The kids loved the chocolate at the top, although on two of our pack the chocolate tops came off when unwrapping which was very disappointing. I thought the white ice cream bit was bland and tasteless

I thought these were vile! The biscuit was tasteless and the ice cream tasted chemically. The kids did not rate these either

We all thought it was far too watery and didn’t really taste of anything,sorry.

We understand it is a small treat but even a mini milk ice cream which this is clearly based on, tastes of more.

Again, this tasted so much more plain than we wanted and it just felt like a waste of calories being completely honest. My daughter preferred this to the stick but that’s because it was bigger!

Absolutely not.there are many more, better priced alternatives on the market. I felt these were extortionately priced for what they were.

No, as above, there are nicer tasting alternatives available

Please include some flavour,some Nutella layers or hazelnut pieces or something.these were just not good enough to warrant the price!

My children enjoyed both products moderately, but both said they'd rather I bought their favourite neapolitan ice cream sandwiches next time. So, they were ok but not amazing.

I liked the chocolate coating but wished it was on the whole stick, not just the top half. I liked the creaminess of the ice cream. My children felt the same - my eldest said he would like one where the ice cream tasted of kinder chocolate too.

I liked the sandwich but did feel it was a small portion for the money. My children loved the cookie coating but felt that the ice cream was a bit bland - they said it didn't taste of much.

I probably wouldn't buy them again - the price is too high compared to similar products. With a pack of ten mini milks costing more than a pound less, with more variety of flavours, it would be daft to choose the more expensive product. Similarly, our usual brand of ice cream sandwiches cost less than half what the kinder ice cream sandwiches cost.

I would recommend it only if the friend was specifically looking for a product that had fewer calories or sugar for their children.

The ice cream sandwiches but with more interesting flavours, like Bueno or chocolate flavour.

• What did you like or dislike about Kinder Ice Cream Sandwich? What did your child like or dislike? These were the favourites my son particularly liked the wafer part which had a nice consistency.

• Would you choose Kinder Ice Cream as a treat for you or your children over other similar treats? Please explain why or why not I generally buy ice creams that are on special offer so if these ones were then yes I’d buy them.

• Would you recommend Kinder Ice Cream to friends or family? Please explain why or why not. I think they’re a bit on the expensive side and probably geared more to the under 7’s as my older ones found them too small.

Not particulary satisfied, Ice Cream sandwich was terrible and felt both products are over priced for what they are.

Something that actually tastes like a Kinder Egg

I havent been able to find the icecream sandwich anywhere but we have the sticks.

I liked them but my children werent so keen.

They are similar to a mini milk but a bit bigger. I liked the chocolate coating but it would have been nice if it was a bit thicker. There wasnt much there to get a taste.

The middle was nice and did taste like kinder chocolate bars.

I think they are a bit pricey but would probably buy them if they were on offer.

Has anyone else had difficulty finding either of the kinder ice cream products?
I feel bad I haven’t left a review, but I can’t seem to find them anywhere for love nor money!

They were ok, just the right size for a little treat (we tried the ice cream sticks), nice taste and plenty in the box - they were a little bland though.

Update - finally managed to track down the ice cream sandwiches. I thought they were quite good but thought the outside biscuit was a little soft for my liking. My children both loved them and would like me to buy them again.

The bueno cones for adults maybe but not for children.

I fee awful that I wasn’t able to but these and taste them prior to the 22 April. Finally managed to get some sticks yesterday, still can’t get hold of the sandwich.

Only tasted the stick but found it really bland, the small amount of chocolate is tasty but the main part doesn’t taste of much.

Kids weren't very impressed, found them quite sickly, I thought they were bland without much flavour.

The ice cream stick was great as a snack on a hot day .

Apologies for late feedback. We tried the sticks. Despite a search of supermarkets right across my region and beyond, we never found the sandwich ice creams, much to my daughter's disappointment.
The sticks were akin to a Mini Milk but the chocolate coating was nice and bitey and had that Kinder creamy taste, we'd have preferred it to cover the whole stick though.

I did think £3.50 steep at first but I suppose 35p each is not much at all and a box of ten lasted a long time. They were nice for an after-tea treat. Would probably buy them again but I'd suggest a 2 for £5 offer on the Kinder products.

I quite liked these although DS wasn't overly keen and preferred the ice cream stick. They were somewhat bland.

I would - I think they are a good child size for a treat as opposed to say a magnum, and at 35p each quite reasonable
