This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnet users who tried the new Kinder Ice Cream Stick and the Kinder Ice Cream Sandwich with their families.

Here’s what Kinder Ice Cream has to say: “KINDER Ice Cream Stick and KINDER Ice Cream Sandwich are all 100 calories or less and made with fresh milk. Each variant comes in small portion sizes, with packs featuring a ‘Responsibly Made For Kids’ logo that will help families make the right choice when it comes to enjoying a tasty treat as part of a balanced and varied diet.”

• What did you like or dislike about Kinder Ice Cream Stick? What did your child like or dislike? They compared it to a mini milk with a little bit of chocolate but weren't massively impressed. They weren't very Kindery!
• What did you like or dislike about Kinder Ice Cream Sandwich? What did your child like or dislike? The biscuit was soft which I don't like. In general I think biscuit and icecream is a bad combo! DC were disappointed by the lack of chocolate. Again not very Kindery.
• Would you choose Kinder Ice Cream as a treat for you or your children over other similar treats? Please explain why or why not. No. For the price you can get something much nicer. I'm also not that bothered about the whole low cal thing. My DC are all very active and I'm not trying to restrict their calerie intake.

• If Kinder Ice Cream was launching a new product, what would you like it to be? Something more like a Kinder bar - replace the white middle with icecream and coat with chocolate. That I would buy!

We enjoyed it as icecream, but were disappointed with it as Kinder.

Both of us felt it wasn't very Kinder-y. A bit like a chocolate-dipped Mini-Milk. Nothing special.

We liked the soft sandwich. It needed chocolate, though, to make it more Kinder-like.

Not the stick. We will stick with Mini Milks because of the range of flavours. We might get the sandwich again as it's a bit different to our usual.

Probably not. It doesn't seem to understand itself as a brand. We love Kinder chocolates and other Kinder products, but these icecreams - while perfectly nice - really lack the chocolatiness that we associate with Kinder products.

• If Kinder Ice Cream was launching a new product, what would you like it to be?

Something that really tastes of Kinder chocolate! A 2-tone bar with milk chocolate and white chocolate, for example, or a little hippo stick with the same flavours and textures as the hippo wafer bar. In terms of small portions there is very little available of decent quality. Kinder are missing an opportunity here.

Quite satisfied. Both my children loved the sticks but my youngest really disliked the sandwich ones.

They liked the taste of the ice cream although I thought it didn't taste any different from any other vanilla icecream. And loved that there was chocolate on them.

Again my oldest liked the ice cream but wasn't keen on the biscuit part of it. My youngest didn't like any if it.

Not really. They are tiny and not much different from regular ice creams that are much cheaper.

No. Again same as above.

One that actually incorporated more of their flavours and not just normal ice cream with their name on it.

Adding to my previous feedback I have now managed to get hold of the ice cream sandwiches - at a supermarket an hour away!

DH is a huge Ice Cream sandwich fab, esp Oreo sandwiches and those ones you get on the continent. I feared he would be disappointed by these given the size and the lack of chocolate but he liked them just fine - as did I. Good flavour. DS was thrilled to try another new ice cream. He likes them too and said he wouldn't change anything. I noted how little mess me made!

These ones seemed a little pricey with only 6 in a pack but I would probably buy them on offer...

Both boys liked the chocolate on top.
I liked them as they were a good size for pudding.

Youngest DS (4) found the sandwich too big. Eldest (7) loved them.
I liked that they could eat them without causing a mess.

Probably not, as they are fairly expensive at £3.50 a box. Would consider if they were on offer.

We were quite disappointed really, they didn’t taste like kinder chocolate which is what we expecting

I thought they were OK, nothing special - a bit like mini milk dipped in chocolate. My daughter didn’t like the chocolate so picked it off

Again, I thought they weren’t anything special. Basic ice cream with a fairly tasteless biscuit. My daughter really didn’t like the biscuit and threw hers away.

No. They were far too expensive compared to comparable products like mini milk

I’d like something that actually tasted like the kinder brand, of these weren’t in akinder box you would never have known they were made by the same people. We love kinder chocolate and bueno in this house so we’re disappointed that these didn’t live up to expectations

Love kinder bars so was excited to try. The ice cream sticks where a lovely size for after dinner treat and at 62 cal didn’t feel guilty for eating. The chocolate coating was good ice cream plain and refreshing. Kids said they would like them on hot sunny day.

The sandwich was creamy and a nice change from a cone. More chocolate would have been good.

I would buy both products again and recommend them to family as a plain refreshing quality treat. Think sticks great for younger children and the weight conscious. Thank you for the enjoyment of testing

Both products bland and boring. No flavour to the ice cream part, the sandwich bit was soft, soggy and tasteless. Only the chocolate actually tasted of anything.

Liked the chocolate covering but wasn't enough of it. The ice cream was flavourless. They were very small, maybe works for toddlers.

No I wouldn't recommend as I thought both products were bland and not a treat.

Something with flavour. My kids love Kinder eggs and Bueno. These had none of the flavour.

All these poor reviews are making me want to go and buy them to see for myself! I'm surprised so many people are saying they need to be bigger/more chocolatey/more flavour etc the target market is small children, surely smaller and plainer is better?

I love the kinder ice cream I think it’s the best thing kinder has done bringing that out as ice cream my daughters love them 3 different kinds a got highly recommend for kids also myself taste of kinder is amazing right down the middle of it also definitely must try well worth the money also

I liked the taste and the fact they're made from milk. I like to know my kids are having milk and calcium. What did your child like or dislike? They liked them alot. They said the taste was great and they wanted more. The only thing is they're fairly small but they still work great as a small treat

We all liked the biscuity flavour. Only thing I disliked was the texture was a little soft, like day old biscuits. It's not too bad a thing though. Kids didn't dislike anything. They said it tasted fab.

Yes I would as it works well as a small treat for little hands that nutritionally isnt too bad. The price is a little off putting though. I'd prefer to buy them if they were around the £2 mark.

Yes I'd recommend them to anyone with young kids. They're a tasty treat and the kids loved them.

A nutella dipping ice cream that comes with a little pot to dip it in.. nmm yum!

I liked the design of them they are easy for little hands to hold. My children liked the filling the most.

Yes as my children really enjoyed them and they are a good size for a treat.

Yes, I have family and friends with children similar ages to mine and I feel they would enjoy them.

An ice cream lolly with salted caramel or honeycomb in it.

Mixed, two thought they were really nice, the eldest thought they were a bit bland.

I liked the chocolate shell, wish the whole stick was covered in it! Tasted just like Kinder chocolate. The actual lolly was ok, same as a mini milk.

Youngest liked it, oldest not fussed. Made a change from the usual lollies and ice creams I would buy, good novelty value.

If they were on special offer then yes I definitely would, otherwise there’s cheaper alternatives which are just as nice.

I think these are really good for younger children, especially the sticks.

A choc ice or Magnum type lolly covered in kinder chocolate.

We found kinder ice cream too be tasty and enjoyed by the whole family. They are a little on the small size but I like that they are a real treat in terms of taste and flavour as well as quality.

The ice cream sticks were like mini milk with the added treat of chocolate so were a win win with the kids.
The ice cream sandwich were a different concept and were mixed results and a divide in the family as half really liked and half did not like as the sandwich cookie was a weird texture and not really like a cookie at all.
We liked that they contain 40 percent milk so a a healthier treat and were both creamy.
I have already recommend to both family and friends as I love the range
and choice of products to suit all ages.
A new product would be a blend of brown and milk chocolate taste in a ice cream tub or egg shape!

Extremely satisfied just what I expected before even trying it out. All 3 of my children thoroughly enjoyed it wanted more.

We expected the outside to be crispy tbh - obce we got over that we rather liked it. One suggestion from dh was to add a layer of chocolate on the inside of the biscuit

Possibly but we had to work quite hard to track them down - our nearest stockists were over 5 miles away and we have 5 other supermarkets in a 3 mile radius so I would have to make a concerted effort for them. If they were more local yes i would - although the sandwich is pricey for 6.

Yes, overall satisfied. I liked there was 10 in the box. Kids & me not so sold on the Flavour.

I liked that it was a child size Ice cream. My child did not like the chocolate on the stick but liked the ice cream. It did get compared to a mini milk.

I liked the size of it for kids. It was very messy to eat and had started melting before it was finished. As it had no chocolate on it it did not remind me of Kinder.

I wouldn’t choose for me as too small. I think is a good size for my children though expensive compared to other similar products in the shop.

I thought they were a bit bland in taste but they are a nice size for a treat
All 3 of my kids loved them. They thought they could be a big bigger.

I thought it tasted quite nice but the outer layer was a bit soggy.
My eldest liked it but my younger 2 didn't like the taste and found them a bit messy to eat.

I would consider buying them if they were on offer only as I think they are expensive to other similar products.

The children really liked them, I thought they were ok taste wise (what I got of them!) but very expensive.

These were the most popular, kids really loved them and I thought they were nice and very Mini milk-esque.

Kids thought these were ok but weren't wild about them. I don't think they'd be pestering me for these in the shop. I thought they were ok too. I like the soft biscuity-ness, reminds me of an Irish ice cream bar that was my all time favourite but again, I don't think I'd especially buy them again.

In theory I would buy the ice cream sticks as the kids loved them and they aren't massive. But they are expensive compared to others. If they were on offer I'd absolutely buy them again.

Yes, the ice cream itself was nice and if they were looking for treats for small children then I'd tell them to give them a go.

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find either of the Kinder products, (have seen the ice cream cone ones that aren’t part of the survey). Have tried multiple Sainsburys, Tesco’s and Asda’s...
